If price is your biggest concern, I love these pads from Amazon - Microfleece Heavy Flow Cloth Reusable Menstrual Pads by Simfamily. I've had these for 3 years in heavy use & they are still in perfect condition. The shape offers protection exactly where I need it (front for daytime & back for night), and keeps it from moving around like my other pads that don't have one bigger side.
My mom got me this mini washer when I started having issues affording our apartment's shared laundry room. It has been a life saver since I started using period panties. Toss them in the bucket in the morning, do three ten minute cycles (soap, vinegar, rinse), and hang dry. I do the same thing with my cloth pads at the end of the day.
Bambody is made of highly processed fabrics, so they make me very sweaty. I have hypomenorrhea, so I also just need a liner. Neione is cotton, and for me this is the best option https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DXHP4FT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
From your description, we have similar period flows and I had a very similar experience with Knix.

These ones aren't fancy, but they have worked magic for me. I have been using the same three since September 2021, wash in bathtub during period and then machine wash after my 4 days of period (air dry). I don't use them with a tampon. They hold up over night even on my heavy overnight day 2. Hope that helps!
Goat Union is your answer!

I got these based off someone's recommendation here & they're super comfy!
You are not wrong though, they used to have a cotton one! I have their cotton one and their original nylon one. (the cotton was like this https://www.amazon.com/Thinx-Organic-Cotton-Period-Underwear/dp/B088RKYX4F ) They change it like every year 😂 You have the modal one? Do you like it? I hesitate because I have some modal shirts and I hate them so much
I really can't tell the difference in absorbtion between the Aisle & cheaper Leekalos. The Aisle pads feel & look a little higher quality, but not a huge difference. Maybe just prettier? I've had my Aisle pads (used to be Lunapads) for a few years now & they are still in great shape. The Leekalos I've had for about a year & they are still in great shape for now, but I can't say how they'll hold up long term. The only 'downside' for me with the Leekalos is they are white cotton, so they are a little stained now. Which doesn't really matter, I'm the only one who sees them! The Aisle pads are black, so the stains don't show (but I'm sure they're still there). I'm sure there are more cotton reusable pads on Amazon at a similar price as the Leekalos. I just looked on Amazon & saw these Langsprit Reusable Cotton Pads, with pretty good reviews. IMO, cheaper is better for something I'm bleeding all over, lol. I'm not too concerned about how they look as long as they work. If they happen to last 1/2 as long as 'prettier' pads at 1/2 - 1/3 the price, I'm still saving money if I have to replace them. Still keeping hundreds of plastic disposable pads out of landfills.
I highly recommend lingerie soaps for period undies and regular panties that gets blood on them, we’ve used them since I’ve gotten my period as a teen. The only ones I could find in the states are the Japanese brand Kobayashi Lingerie Soap, and you can get them in most Japanese stores or just on Amazon. A couple drops in a bucket or basin full of water does the job for removing blood. I generally just add my period undies to it then I rinse on day 3 or 4 and toss them into the washer. Works incredibly well on panties that’s gotten spotting on them or any clothing that got blood on them.
And, just because I live with someone that gets all kinds of crap on their clothes, 🤦🏻♀️, I highly Stain Fu, we originally got this for carpet cleaning but since it’s all natural we started using it on clothing. I’ve used this on grease, like I’m talking about pot roast juice that got on the shirt (cotton) and whatnot, spray this stuff on, couple minutes, can’t even tell a trace! Stained your carpet with red wine? Spray this stuff on, no need to brush or do anything, just come back 10min, stains are gone, no trace!
Unfortunately, if you are working out and getting sweaty you’re not going to be able to wear them more than once without a full laundering, even if you don’t bleed while you are working out. I recommend buying a multi pack, like this: Neione Period Underwear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DXNPJS5?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’m in Canada too and only use period panties as back up. I found the same thing with Knix. I really like the neione panties. I usually wear Med and I bought large. Full front and back coverage and decent price.
Here are the ones I have
Holy moly, these hold so much fluid: Goat Union Overnight Period Underwear for Women - Absorbent Period Panties Heavy Flow https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08KGTSPWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_DAA2KR05QVBY2SZ0TGY1
I’d make sure to get 100% cotton if you tend to get sweaty. I do too, and I sweat sooo much when I wear nasty synthetic fabrics like modal and polyester. The Thinx, modibody, bambody, etc. that everyone seems to rate highly are just awful for me. It’s hard to find cotton ones with coverage up to the waistband so I can wear them at night. Aisle period panties are all cotton, but only the shorts are full coverage and they are $$$. These ones are pretty much my holy grail: Neione Period Underwear | Absorbent Leakproof Panties | Menstrual Sporty Briefs https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08DXHP4FT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_DWQV8SDFYTHSJ8DASG78?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and they come in extended sizes.
I have oxi clean odor blaster powder. I soak them for 3-6 hours in the solution before washing them with unscented laundry soap (I use hypoallergenic soap). Works better than vinegar soaks. They haven't smelled since. I always air dry, but I've occassionally accidently put them in the dryer. They're fine. Disclaimer: no idea if Oxi powder breaks down the material. I've used it for a few months and haven't noticed any ill effects.
I love Bambody period panties! This style specifically wears like a mid-waist brief for me, my entire bottom is covered as well as the front. I feel very secure with these on, and they do so much better than over night pass! Have not had any leaks when I wear them to sleep for the past couple years.
The only thing I’d say is maybe don’t wear them on your heavy days during the day, like if your flow is so heavy you have to change pads every 3 hours then you should be changing period panties every 3 hours. But other than that, I wear them throughout the entirety of my period at night when I go to bed and during the day for the second of my period.
I completely agree! Their thongs are great, but the regular briefs are terrible for front coverage.
I only use my period panties for light bleeding or cup backup, so take it with that warning, but I really really like the Neoni brand off amazon (US or CND). These are the ones I have, and I love them. Neione has different styles, but these are the only ones I have tried. I usually wear a medium, but some of my medium underwear in regular cotton were feeling a touch too small after washing, so I ordered these in a large, and they fit me perfectly (my lower widest bum/hips: 39", upper hips 36.5-37", belly button waist: 35"):
Here are the ones I have. The protection doesn't go all the way up in the front, but there's decent front coverage, especially for a light day (for me anyway!!)
These ones are even better in some ways. They are cotton, so they won’t pill from washing as quickly as the viscose or modal ones, but they do have a wide elastic waist band. Neione Period Underwear Menstrual... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DXHP4FT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
If you do go with Bambody, measure yourself prior to purchasing. This is the link for the set that I got on Amazon, I’ve purchased the exact same set (3 X Black) for the past five years (I have 3 sets total atm), they’ve done wonders for me and I wear them mostly now at night when I bleed.
Their prices go up and down you can always put an alert with CamelCamelCamel so they email you when price drops, but overall I find them to be the best bang for the buck and quality.
I have been using period panties for about 5 years. I wear them for work as a back up for tampons and at night for free flowing. I would say it works during the day and night but sometimes I have accidents are night. I use a waterproof mattress pad always as I have a dust mite allergy so I throw it all in the wash with chlorine bleach and it all washes out perfectly.
I use Knix & Thinx panties. I just got some reusable pads on Amazon too that are highly rated. They look promising as they have a near perfect rating and the pad is made of absorbent bamboo. Teamoy 10Pcs Sanitary Pad, Reusable Washable Cloth Menstrual Pads/Panty Liners with Wet Bag, Super-Absorbent, Soft and Comfortable(3pcs×7.9"+4pcs×10"+3pcs×11.6") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078S6KRX2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2S2VB7QG859MKY740ZYS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You might find panties made in a similar way. Both pads and panties are a good back up for a cup or tampons. Or just free flowing which I find the most comfortable.
I also use Tide scent remover pods with my normal laundry detergent. Works great on many things.
Good luck and use whatever you find comfortable. I have saved money on disposable lines and pads and feel more comfortable. Not like your moms “diaper” pads of years ago. There’s a lot of products now that make us women feel better and more comfortable. ♥️🌺
I like the Bambody underwears, idk if there’s another way you can get them other than Amazon, but their semi-high waist period panties has never done me wrong. I sleep in them and as someone that leaks all over the place during night time, these worked so much better than pads (I have night pads that’s extra long and also put a couple liners at the end to avoid leaking). I don’t constantly wake up feeling hot and humid down there, and in the morning I just toss them into a basin to soak.
The largest size they carry is 6XL, they have a sizing chart on their listing so for best fit I highly suggest measuring yourself.
The style I linked is the one I like from their brand, they have other styles and I’ve also tried the hipster, I hated the band on the hipster and ended up tossing both pairs.
I have a set from Amazon from the brand Neione (was called Intimate Portal when I bought them - I think they re-branded their period panty line). Anyway, I've had them for about 2 years now & they are still in really great shape. Super comfortable & breathable, the fit is great. They def can't handle my heavy days, but work great as backup or alone for light days. They say they replace 2 tampons. They are very affordable, the set I have is $25 for 3 pair - LINK. They also have a couple of other styles. Link to Neione Amazon store.
I have 2 super heavy days, and just period panties alone don't cut it, unless I want to change them every couple of hours. Even then, sometimes it's so heavy I get leaks where wings would be on a pad. For reference, I don't use my large size cup (about 30ml) on my heavy days, because it will overflow in about 4 hours. Not at all convenient at work! On those days I wear my huge overnight cloth pads, which I still need to change at least every 8ish hours. I still wear my period panties those days for extra layer leak protection. And believe me, it is needed almost every month! I have some inexpensive pads I bought on Amazon ( link ). I've had them for about 4 years & they're still in great condition. I like the shape, they're bigger on one side. I can arrange the bigger side where I need it (front for day & back for night). I think the shape keeps them from moving around too. I have some older cloth pads that don't have a bigger side & they move around a lot.
I finally tried them! I ordered them late last month and got them the day after my heavy day.
It is defently long enough, Feels like the leg holes should be a little higher(?). It soaked through the front, and leaking from my legs, but I did not have to get up in the middle of the night it did what I needed them to do \o/
These were the ones I got
(not sure if I'm suppose to reply to myself or edit my post, I mostly lurk on Reddit)
I put mine in the dryer until they are merely damp which minimizes the time it takes for them to on in the rack. I use this rack: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00KQU1C60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_D00HD8WAQDQ7BW2W28ZY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I rinse them in the shower, wring out the water, and toss them in one of these wet bags until I have a handful of them to wash on delicate. I dry them using an ikea octopus rack.

I use reusable pads for my heavy days as they are easier to switch out than underwear (plus cheaper).
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076BB5V9M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I snap them on regular underwear and then I wear tight period underwear over that for extra protection in case of leakage (which rarely happens). The pads move if you don't have something tight over them, hence the extra underwear. Seems excessive but it works and the pads hold a hell of a lot more than disposable pads. Thinx sleep shorts work great for the second layer protection.
I only use the long reusable pads because they provide a ton of front and back protection.
Modibodi - but only their MAXI-24 collection has decent coverage up the front
Also interested! For some reason not every seller shows what area their pants cover, or their capacity.
The modibodi maxi 24 hour range does, and has 50ml capacity.
One of the intimate portal styles - just checked and it's currently called sporty but think it used to have a different name. Says it has a 2 tampon capacity, so 10ml? It's a good budget pair if you only need low capacity. I use them for backup for my cup or on very light days.
I love cloth pads! Way more comfortable than disposable ones, and more absorbent too. I have period underwear but they're not very absorbent, more like panty-liner replacements than pad replacements, so I only use them as backup for a cup or on lighter days at the end of my period. The more absorbent period panties are expensive, so a more flexible and cost effective option (imo) is to use cloth pads WITH period underwear if I don't feel like wearing my cup on a heavy day. Period underwear protects you from leaking into your clothes, while the cloth pads does a lot of the work.
But seriously, super comfortable, and they are absorbent enough that I don't feel wet until I've had them on for quite a while. I think I bought these.
