Great idea, writers.
Janeway ended the Borg.
Queenie stabbed Seven in the gut, then “saved” her by making her a Borg again? Queenie gets no credit for that, she caused the injury. All the injuries.
But, now it’s going to be different.
No more kidnapping and murder. Now the Borg offer assimilation to people who are lonely and lost, or people who are dying and have no other hope. Of course, we have no reason to believe people could leave and have implants removed if they later change their minds.
The new people who choose to join the Borg will travel away from all the things they found stressful.
New Borg be moved away from their former friends and family.
New Borg won’t have to worry about what they should do, because the Borg Queen tell them what to think.
New Borg will be too busy everyday with Borg tasks to think about their old lives.
Being Borg still won’t be a hobby, they won’t be able to leave the Borg.
I didn’t know Eric Hoffer wrote episodes of Star Trek.
Now instead of being mass murderers, the Borg are a cult.
Way to go, writers.
I've been listening to the Make It So podcast.
I'm a casual fan of Star Trek, to me these guys seem to know their stuff without gatekeeping.
You'll want to read:
Star Trek: Picard: The Last Best Hope - it's the prequel to the show and covers the evacation of Romulus and all that transpired on mars. It also gives you several star dates (and years oddly enough)
Don't want to spoil it - if you liked the show you'll enjoy the book.

Since you mention CBS All Access, assuming North America / US. The only other option besides CBS All Access is Amazon Prime:

Yes, you CAN watch it via Amazon Prime in the US, but you have to subscribe to CBS through Amazon. It will stream via Amazon's servers and app if you do that. Comparing it to something already released, for Star Trek Discovery some people said it looked better via Amazon but I don't know if anyone has ever done a direct comparison. That show was not shot in 4K, so Picard might end up being the same. With Discovery, the one actual difference between CBS All Access and Prime was that Prime offered 5.1 surround sound support for the show while CBS was just Stereo. Prime does not offer HDR for Discovery, even though it is in HDR on Netflix outside the US. I guess we won't know until it's live whether HDR will happen.
