I got this one from Amazon for my classic as well. Make sure you get some nuts bolts and washers to seal up the holes on the back side of the drum to improve to airflow.
What Throw Away Troll said for sure. Otherwise you can use a spatula to scoot it to where you want it, especially when there's food on the grates, like when I smoke burgers for a while then want to give them a little kiss of flame at the end. Otherwise, yes, awesome heat resistant gloves. Honestly, the only time I tend to move the plate is before and after a cook once cooled or when doing burgers. Every once and I while I forget to close the plate before going it up and bought a really nice pair of heat resistant gloves where I can use my hands to pick up the grate and move the plate. Don't feel any heat at all. I love em! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RUBZNDQ/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_cVZfFbE5MHAMC
I bought some of these off Amazon.
Folding Shelf Brackets - Heavy Duty Metal Collapsible Shelf Bracket for Bench Table, Shelf Hinge Wall Mounted Space Saving DIY Bracket, Max Load: 150 lb 2 PCS (12 Inch, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KX3TRYL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_Q6HTCJW9AJJ3N962RC52?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
There are holes in the side of the grill. They didn't match the holes in the bracket so I drilled into the brackets. Added a wood shelf that folds down and the cover still fit over it!! Unfortunately I sold said grill and dont have any pics. Sorry! It did work well
I agree with what everything everyone else has said. I don't empty my hopper. I keep my cover on it when not in use. Never had an issue.
And, get one of these or something similar. It'll keep the grease and other garbage off your controller when you're using it.

Dude, might want to consider going lower. You can get one of those for that price from Walmart or Amazon with significantly less risk.
i use elevated trays with drip pans so the smoke can get to the bottom

I do as well. I find that the heat on the smoke side is a little too intense and since the top rack is too small to put larger cuts of meat I bought one of these to raise what I'm cooking a bit higher so that the heat isn't as intense. I've used it for burgers, pork butts, and brisket and it works well.
Hmm.. I didn't get to the flameout portion, but I think the suggestion that it would make cleanup messy, along with catching grease and possible get into the grease run-off channels, is definitely a negative on the idea. Including the idea that it could promote grease fires.
I'm back at using fire or clay bricks (like what pizza oven stones are made of) if your looking to retain heat. That way you can position them very easily over the grease channels, or back/sides of the grates, and not directly under the food your cooking (bread being an exception). And they are far easier to clean up.
I'd just be cautious about placing them too close to the thermoprobe as that could make the PID think the chamber is still hot enough, when it isn't.
Also, for the concern about the pellet grill not feeding in enough pellets/smoke, there is always a smoke stick. (I don't know if this is a good one or not, just an example).
Finally, on a side note: to get increase temperature for searing or just general cooking, I've read of a few people getting stainless steel utensil holders, and using charcoal in them, like little mini charcoal starters.
So, I've had a few weeks with the grill. I haven't even burned in the vertical yet. It's on my to-do list.
I've grilled burgers, brats, dogs, and chicken. Smoked countless veggies, briskets, turkey breasts, and chicken.
I found that I need a smoke tube to get the flavor I'm looking for, but I don't mind that one bit. It allows me to run cheaper pellets in the hopper and flavor pellets in the tube.
I don't like grilling directly, as the heat seems to concentrated. However, adding a cast iron griddle (or two) make this perfect for grilling (and makes cleanup easier.)
It does appear that there are "hot spots" around the smoker. Now that I've found where those are (a couple cheap oven thermometers helped with that) I use them to my advantage when I have things that just need to stay warm or need a little extra heat.
I use that access when only using PB probes. The test probes wouldn't have all reached the base unit in this particular case.
For what it's worth, I love the app and ease of use with the Govee Meat Thermometer. But the temperatures were all over the place. I need to see if there's a way to calibrate them. For now, I'm sticking with the factory probes.
Good choice! I upgraded from the Lexington to the Pro 850 series and before I used two smoke tubes, a 6in tube for short cooks and a 12 in tube for long cooks.
Check out these grill covers. I purchased quite a few over the years of various brand and Unicook grill covers are the best I’ve come across yet.

If you search "pellet storage for smoker" on amazon, it ends up in the list, just gotta scroll a bit. If you don't care about it being clear, this appears to be the same thing for a few bucks less.
My control board went out literally on my first smoke. I ordered one on Amazon bc I couldn't wait for delivery because I was so close to Thanksgiving. I've been using the third party one ever since. Link below if interested

This is the one that came with my 4 burner fits over everything
I checked the Pit Boss website and it doesn't look like they make one.
Most people DIY one with a welding blanket. Here is one on Amazon for $40. If you read through the reviews and Q and A, that is what others are using it for.
I bought this one:

We use this brand for our patio furniture and Weber summit kamado, and it really does well protecting from moisture. It's raining pretty hard tonight just outside of Chicago.
Will let you know if it doesn't hold-up.
I use the gmg pizza oven in my kc combo…think the Laredo is similar build so it should fit. Works pretty well!

Pretty weird, just noticed it was quietly replaced. Apparently this version was released in August according to dev page, last updated Sept 1st
I bought this 15x15 Round Pizza Stone - Amazon for $25.99 a few months ago and am loving it. Cooks pizza perfectly.
This fits the Navigator 850, so if that's the 850 you're looking for, it should work. I'm thinking hard about getting one for my Austin XL.
Just get a Lodge griddle like this from Amazon for $30. Works great.
I live in the north west part of Virginia where it doesn't usually get too harsh in the winter. We bought ours a year ago and still used it during the winter. One thing that we had to do was purchase a small culinary torch as we found that the colder it gets, the harder it was for the hot box to heat up and ignite the pellets. The torch we purchased was one that you'd see a chef using to 'flambe' a dessert with like this one..
I have the tube on order now should be here Friday in time to smoke a pork butt Saturday. Morning.
Ordered this pellet smoker tube and gonna see how it does. Was told to fill it with pellets, llight it for 10ish minutes while the grill gets up to temp using a torch and It should "smoke" for "4" hrs which is more than enough time to give it a good smoke rings and smokiness flavor.
I still have my offset so maybe I could do a combo smoke session. Smoke it in the offset and finish it in the pitboss... hmmm....

I bought one of these from amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BXCGD76/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I also couldn't change anything from my phone so support is sending me a new controller, will see if that changes it.
Support generally is pretty good, but I had a different model that temps were off as well. It's not a huge deal as long as I can adapt it.
I found the link for the probe thermometer I bought. There's a lifetime warranty on the probes: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014DAVHSQ
Looks like they've updated the probes...mine has an older style ambient probe (it's rounded on the end so that you know it's for ambient, and the clip is shaped differently). I bought it in 2016 and it's still alive, despite almost weekly use when we bake chicken. :)
I bought this and put it along the edges of the lid. Works great it keeps the temps pretty stable and the smoke in.

> I’m intrigued by the charcoal pellets
Try em. I wasn't impressed too much by them, but that's just me. Lots do like them. As far as brands, I'd say try as many as you can until you find one you like. If I don't like a particular pellet, I end up just using them for fuel and run my smoke tube with the particular flavor I do like, so even if I don't like the pellets, they're still useable. At the moment, these are my go to.
Also, think about getting one or two of these. They're great if you want to punch up the smokiness, or if you want to try cold smoking something.
Mine looks the same. As I'm not actually cooking on that surface, I'm not too concerned. If you feel compelled, purify it with fire. Or get a replacement.
Though I feel like there might be cheaper options out there than this particular link.
Edit: And there was
Thanks for the comments! Here are the links for the magnetic shelves and hooks I purchased on amazon. It’s a bummer pitboss doesn’t offer any accessories like this, so I had to go find my own. Cheers and happy smoking!!
