I use this air tag holder and connect thru the collar ( the collar thru the two hole). I only use it when i go visit my friends and parents since they live in a suburbs with big back yard and i let him run around.
It doesnt bother him at all since it is not dangling around his neck.
Don’t listen to that guy. Airtag is Bluetooth based but it is tracked by every Apple product with an internet connection. Mean you can track your dog in Mars if there’s an Apple product with a stable connection.
I attach it to my dogs collar. Cheap and efficient way for just in case
I use the link below, but it will pull out the undercoat fairly harsh. I recommend using a detangle spray, chi has a really good one. Also poms are drama queens, once she started to realize her little temper tantrum would do nothing she is completely fine with it. Not saying be overly rough on your pom but their coat does need some tough love

I agree, poms look great in all sorts of cuts. Sometimes it’s good to just clean up the look, especially when it gets hotter like it is here in the south!
Thanks for the kind words about my girl :) I myself am impressed by how beautiful her coat is at her age. She was shaved down and had a skin infection when I adopted her— so, any hair beyond that is bonus, haha.
Re: food— nothing fancy, she eats Pedigree for small dogs (https://www.amazon.com/Pedigree-Small-Targeted-Nutrition-Vegetable/dp/B01MQ489KS) mixed in with a little wet food to help her old teeth out.
That’s so cute! Mine is a sling so he can hide incognito or be a proud pupper the funniest is when only his head is out and people think I’m walking around with a stuffed animal! pup sling
For another birthday we got him these. They smelled so good, I wanted to eat them LOL
https://www.chewy.com/nutri-vet-dog-eye-rinse/dp/48412 I tried a bunch of things for my Poms tear stains and this is the only thing that worked. I put some on a Cotten pad and then wipe around his eyes before bed. It’s also not super expensive which is a nice bonus! People have commented on how he no longer has the stains.
I did not use meds because I read that it was risky using supplements or meds and I did not consult it with a vet. This is the carrier I used. The Sherpa one has more openings so I think is better. I will probably buy it soon to travel internationally because you need one with 4 openings.
Occasionally I give my Pom a huge cured ham bone, not a roasted bone. It keeps her busy all day long. Kind of like this one but not exactly this one... https://www.chewy.com/navus-naturals-genuine-serrano-whole/dp/291919
Here is the link for the one we got.
It’s going to take time for any dog to get the food out, even if they are super smart.
We also use yak cheese to keep her entertained.. Especially when we have company as she tends to get a bit stressed. I won’t let her have it unattended though because sometimes pieces break off.
There are reusable potty pads on Amazon such as these. I flush the poop and wash the pads in hot water and add some vinegar along with the detergent to eliminate any smells.
There are also those doggy lawn patches you can put on your porch so you don’t have to go into the wet grass. I tried Fresh Patch, but my dog didn’t take to it. It was a great product and is supposed to work with most dogs, but some dogs just don’t catch on and mine seemed to be one. Not sure if that’s more true for some breeds than others, so that may be worth researching. She did like to lay in and eat the grass 🤣
Maybe some extra treats when it’s wet would motivate her 😊

I groom my dog with this bixypixy slicker brush and it works really well. I shelled out for some $20 a bottle shampoo and conditioner at petsmart and also bought some random cheap dog shampoo from a discount store for $2 and honestly they work the same as far as I can tell, they both smell good and my dog hasn't had any noticeable issues from any of them. Be very sweet with them while it's happening, doesn't hurt to bribe them with treats. Make it something to look forward to for them with a tasty reward after they're all done.
Also start getting your dog used to you examining their ears and teeth so you can clean them as needed. My guy doesn't like examinations but he will allow them in short bursts which is an improvement from when i got him a few months ago.
It seems like the little guy isn’t properly potty trained. Did the owner tell you about his behavior before asking you to dog sit? I’m sorry you have to go through this. It must be frustrating for you to constantly have to clean up after him. Back when I was potty training my pom (he had notorious accidents around the house), I would constantly take him outside for a potty break an hour after he finished eating and drinking water and if he didn’t go potty, I would bring him back in crate him for a little bit before taking him out again to potty. Eventually, he got the idea that he had to potty first before he was allowed to play inside the house.
I know you mentioned that you tried setting up potty pads inside your own house, but have you considered using a dog litter box. You can have him do this business in inside of directly on the potty pads in your house to hopefully avoid adding more dog pee onto your carpet. Best of luck! You’re doing awesome!
They make gloves with a comb like surface for kitties. And thank you, I just realized I can brush my baby with these.
Mine always grazed, just make sure it doesn’t turn into too much food as she grows. If you’re worried about blood sugar, you can give her some nutrical a few times a day, this will keep her blood sugar up.
You might want to consider switching her off purina to a better quality food that tastes better to her as well. Wellness has a small breed puppy food, that can’t be much more in cost than purina. Or if you’re in the US, this food is really amazing.
Try a rolled leather type collar for your poms. Flat and nylons collars are the ones that cause matting. Here is what you want to look for: https://www.amazon.com/Rolled-Leather-Collar-Small-Dogs/dp/B09JNS7VW9/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?keywords=Rolled+Leather+Dog+Collar&qid=1652633036&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1
They can still get a few tiny knots from the tag and buckle, but those are easy to prevent with some brushing. Way better than flat collars and they don't 'cut' the fur line around the neck.
I used to have the same Puppia harness, and I absolutely hated it. I have 3 Pomeranians, and I use these Voyager harnesses. They’re awesome and they have a wide range of sizes. I have an XXS for my youngest Pom who is about 4 lbs (it is a just a little bit big though).
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0171MQW56/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KTWF9HSVCHCV33CWC8M4
Puppia do a step in harness. They are called "Soft Vest" harnesses, it's we have used for all our Poms over the last 16 years.
Our breeder sent us home with a list of suggested products that he uses and this was the recommended shampoo: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001VPEG5S/
It's been great for our pup! We also use this detangler and shine spray every time we brush him: https://www.chewy.com/biosilk-therapy-detangling-shine-dog/dp/171917
There are a lot of various shampoos out there that work well. So, it's really going to depend on the individual dog but a good start is a basic oatmeal shampoo like this one Espree Aloe Oatbath Medicated and if you want you can even just use basic Mane n' Tail Shampoo. Its not a medicated formula but it's infamous for promoting hair regrowth.
How short was the coat taken down? I forgot to ask this.
The best solution I found for our senior samoyed was this: PawFriction - Paw Pad Traction - Increase Your Dog's Quality Of Life (Packaging may vary) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075XT2H5F/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_Y3TFDGQVSDX1HWWNXJNS
This stuff stayed a long time, longer if it didn't get wet. It has more than 1 application for a medium size dog, so I imagine a pom would get several, maybe 4 or 5 uses from one box? It didn't scratch the hardwood nor did it seem to bother our dog after it was done being applied. She seemed to completely forget about it and gained a ton of confidence back from being able to walk and get up from any position on smooth flooring (like she could when she was way younger). We liked it so much we used it on our other dogs too, and it helps so much.
Tried the paw grips, they fell off quickly. Also tried the claw gripper thingies, they work if you get them on just right, but aren't great for long term, since it displaces the weight bearing position of the dog's feet.
Grippy socks fall off and spin around, so those are useless on their own. Maybe with a suspender set they would work better.

I got it off Amazon, it’s decent for the price of it
I could not find the big g in stock so I settled for the slight cheaper baby K and I could not recommend it enough. It’s the only brush my pom will tolerate and it works amazing

YAY! My number one recommendation is a toy (or two or three) that keeps their attention without you having to pay attention to them. It helps with building independence and preventing separation anxiety. You’ll probably need something smaller for when they’re an itty bitty baby, but we stuff treats in this thing and it keeps our Pom’s attention for hours: https://www.chewy.com/starmark-treat-ringer-flexgrip-turkey/dp/180623?. We never had a problem with chewing, so long as she was kept occupied.
Also, it is absolutely essential for your puppy’s health that you post pictures of them to this subreddit. Can’t explain it, and if you ask your vet about it they might not know what I’m talking about but believe me - it’s a life or death thing 😊
Sorry for delay in reply. I customized this flirt poll toy (which hasn't failed to motivate the 3 poms and one labradoodle pup...or whatever they're called):
But the poll and two toys it comes with gave him like 80% of the happiness (that and the red babble ball with the lights are my little guy's favorite toys by far).
Best, Christian

Hasn't happened to my pom but my Chihuahua gets flaky dry skin like that in the winter. We slather him this stuff once a week, making sure to get his armpits too
We use this Pawtitas harness. It’s step-through so pulls across the chest and nothing around the neck. Our Pom has worn the same size (XS) when he was small as 3.5 lbs and he’s now 6lbs and still wears this size.
My Poms love Bil Jac dog food and it doesn't need water mixed in because it already easily crumbles when chewing... (PetSmart carries these for cheaper)...

Toni is so adorable!
I’ve been using this one for my 12 1/2 year old Pom who has lots of joint issues. She lovessss it. She puts her little head on the bolster while laying down as a headrest lol. I like it because the cover comes off and you can wash it easily once a week.
Believe it or not I went for the size medium. My Pom is only 6 pounds but she loves to stretch out end to end on the medium.
I really liked the fresh patch when she couldn’t go outside because she didn’t have all her shots yet. If she didn’t worry me so much I would have kept using it 😂
But I got the pads on Amazon this is the little one and this is the bigger one . The little one absorbs really well we haven’t had it leak through.I just have the bigger one down incase she misses and so she won’t drag the little one around her pen.
Hi, I got it from Amazon. I attached the link :)

Yep, I got it off Amazon! It's called a 'Chuckit! Ultra Ball', and I got it in the size small :) They're about the same size as the ball in this video, so perfect for Poms! Link for Amazon
I fly with my throw back. Around 15 1/2 to 16 pounds and I used this carrier:
Maskeyon Airline Approved Pet Carrier, Large Soft Sided Pet Travel TSA Carrier 4 Sides Expandable Cat Collapsible Carrier with Removable Fleece Pad and Pockets for Cats Dogs and Small Animals https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081P14MJD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YC2CKSA49ZKYGT95Z1FS
I flew JetBlue and asked to be seated in any open seats if possible. They let me keep her in the carrier on my lap and she was fine but I had to put her under the seat for take off and landing. Once we were in the air I very discreetly opened the zipped panels to allow her more leg room. She’s a throwback as well and rather tall so she needed the extra room to stretch out. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I’ve been flying w mine for years and prior to the stupid federal law banning ESAs I used to fly w her in my lap.
Welcome! He will definitely fit this one then! You can choose step in (don't get roman-they are over the head. Thank you! I hope you find a style you like. They have lots of designs to choose from. I know exactly what you are talking about with the over the head ones!! I got this one.

12 inch - 18 inch. I measured around his chest and he was already 12 inches. So I figure he can grow into this one.
You are awesome for looking that up to help me out! The new one you have - is it the 10-13”? These look like they are a great size for little pups!

My pom has never loved the car, but he settles down in his raised car seat. The one I have is from snoozer and it’s basically a very sturdy foam block w raised sides (and a cover over it), so they can snuggle into it like a bed or sit up and see out the window. He’s almost 6 now, and I still have the one I got when he was a puppy
Wanna advise against this particular rake tool. You never wanna use the rotating ones, as they pull out both dead undercoat hair and live. Always use the non-rotating ones! My pom loves the little kong squeaky toys toys too! We have the bear, duck, frog & beaver and he likes all of them
He also loves flat, low/no stuffing toys (like skinneeez or similar). I think he likes that it’s floppy and squeaky & he can shake it like a dead animal, lol. And yes to getting some bigger toys too! Mine loves toys that are technically for bigger dogs.
Mine hated the car too, until we figured out he felt unsafe and unsteady. We bought him a dog car seat and he loves it. It's his own space that he can feel safe in. This is the one we got: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00XTN4FV0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_NZ3PTJ8SSV2TR2MT9RZX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Earthbath!!!
I bought this on Amazon for my mischievous rescue Pom and it has been great for keeping him out of areas I don't want him to go into. It's short enough that the cats can jump over and has a tiny door he can go through if I want him to come into the forbidden room. It also allows him to see me in the other room so he won't bark. You might also want to invest in a large crate for nighttime.

Lucy uses this harness. It has an X shape so it doesn't come up near her trachea.
I find that a harness which slips on quickly and easily works better in terms of lowering the Pom’s anxiety. I recommend this one:
It’s triple secured with Velcro, a buckle, and a clasp ring. I literally can get it on my Pom in under 3 seconds. It’s very easy to use and is by far the best of all the ones I’ve tried. Be persistent in training your Pom to accept a harness. My first Pom suffered from a collapsing trachea but luckily he responded well to medication (prednisone and one other). Still, we still had to take him to the vet immediately about three times when he was experiencing difficulty breathing.
The groomer put them on but I already ordered some lol

By far our pompoms Mojo & Moxie fav snuggler. You will likely have two beds, one for your room and one for the living room or area you spend the most time in, so you can go ahead any buy a smaller round one and a larger rectangular one for them to streach out in and enjoy. Also can use larger one in kennels for training when needed.

I often see questions about stains. I’ve been fighting the good fight for a year now. I’ve used like several brands from amazon and pet stores, natural/ chemical/ even considered a voodoo healer from deep Louisiana swamp. Anyhoo these pads have mostly done the trick. EVERY POM IS DIFFERENT. I’ve heard everything from the type of food to the water but drink could be the cause of it. It could be like a Yeast/fungus I’m no scientist 🤷♀️
The problem is it takes months to fully work and u gotta wipe the little buggers like 5 times a day. I’ve read that they essentially have to regrow the fur for the stains to be fully gone. I have to use em twice a day to maintain. If I’m out for a week I can realllllly tell.

For a long time I had problems with that, and since they’re white the “crying stains” were so flashy. I bought in Amazon a special serum to clean their eyes instead of the standard one I got in the hairdresser. Once I changed the product I automatically saw the difference!
I leave you here the product, but I’m from Spain so I don’t know if you can buy this one (I always assume everyone from Reddit lives in the US hahaha).

My poms LOVE it and honestly I can’t even remember last time I saw one of them itching. Hope this helps!
We use the Puppia soft vest harness and love it. It is a Korean brand and so it runs smaller than American brands. Our 3kg pom wears a size medium! https://www.amazon.com/PUPPIA-International-Puppia-Harness-Medium/dp/B0013MVJRW
Yeah, my pom is afraid of anything that has ever made noises or fallen over (puppy gates, treat balls, those potty doorbells, roll out keyboard drawer, etc) and she reacts the same way when you step on her. If you even start to step on her she shrieks.
My papillon and collie are not scared of most of what she's afraid of, either. In fact, our collie doesn't even move when you're walking over him, but he's much bigger so that might have something to do with it. I keep running into him because I'm expecting him to get out of my way like little dogs do :p
You know, some people might not agree with this method, but it worked for us:
My Pom would be home while were were at work, sometimes for up to 8 hrs a day. We never had expectations that he could hold it for that long, so we had "pee towels" that we put out in the corner of the bathroom where we kept him kenneled - he knew he could go on these if he needed to. Then, when we came home, into the wash it went. He would always prefer to go outside when were were home.
Now, we have a Pom puppy coming in a couple months, and while we won't be leaving him at home for that long for quite awhile, I do plan on doing the same thing with him, only I'm considering using one of these rather than the towels
Maybe something like that would work for you and your pup?
You shouldn't need to bath your Pom once a week, her fur shouldn't be getting that oily so quickly. Are you brushing her everyday? Brushing can help her natural oils get distributed.
As for food, try adding canned salmon or flax seed oil to her meals. I've used this stuff for my Pom, and now my Cavaliers: HERE
And it works really well to promote a healthy coat. Helps to build the natural oils and makes the coat shiny and soft.
What type of shampoo are you using on your dog? Maybe you dog is allergic to it, or is having a reaction, or just doesn't do well with it. I don't know anything about this Tropiclean grooming products, as I haven't seen them in pet stores where I am from.
I would try maybe switching shampoos, adding the salmon to the diet, increase brushing and hold off on the bathing. And maybe something positive will happen!
I hope one of these suggestions help :) Poor puppy, skin problems are the worst to deal because you always end up trying so many different ways/things to solve the problem before you finally find the perfect combination.
