Not a drinker myself, but I have heard good things about Strap Tank in Spingville, just south of Provo. September is a great time of year because the temps are starting to drop. If you are outdoorsy at all there is so much to do here:

Timpanogos Cave
Provo River Trail (both in town and up the canyon)
Mountain Biking @ Sundance up Provo Canyon (you can take the lift up so its all down hill!)
If you are a hiker, check out https://www.alltrails.com/us/utah/provo
For driving:
Alpine loop
Nebo Loop
Bonneville Salt Flats

Hey you could even go to a BYU football game if you wanted to. Just be warned, it won't be a good game!

https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/battle-creek-falls is a great easy hike. It's great for an out of shape guy like me to take his kids on, so I think it qualifies for beginner/intermediate. :-)
A couple of websites that might help:
Aspenwood Manor - Never been here, but might be worth looking into.
And for those prices, there are cheaper hotels on S University Ave in the East Bay area (by I-15). Sleep Inn, for example, at $59/night.
I am in provo and have a lighting set up. This is one of my kits.
