Can't help you with your first question. But I will say from experience working computers and gaming headsets. Take lots of pictures. Lots and lots you will need a diagram to get it back together. If you have repeated or similar colors of wire it is best to take some masking tape and label them and label the other side on your hand drawn digram.
Second don't clip the wires that will introduce interference in the system when you put them back together and it adds more failure points.
Unsoldering them is your best bet this the pictures and digram should let you put them all back just fine
Heat your iron then press the iron to the solder blob until the wire comes out repeat as many times as needed until all wires are Free.
I have this kit it's cheep it works it's not for pros but it will do this job and be good for occasional use.

Maybe you guys can help a noob out. Just got a Team Wendy Exfil SL with the 3.0 rail system. Looking to add good ear pro for now and I have the Exfil Peltor quick release adapter I ordered with it. I want something that will fit and work well with the helmet without breaking the bank. Looking at these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QUYKS8Y?pf_rd_r=R6PZC8CS542ZTQYDWF45&pf_rd_p=edaba0ee-c2fe-4124-9f5d-b31d6b1bfbee
Not sure what’s compatible with what for mounts and just looking for advice. Pretty new to this and confused.
Peltor soundtrap tactical is what I’ve used for a few years. You won’t have to mess with your helmet pads to fit them and you can take them off while keeping your helmet on

Mechanics gloves don't last long under hard use. Amazon has them in black and ranger as well. Get yourself a few pair for when those blow out.
Oh man here I was thinking I might get away with not being asked about the dangler ...it's an Amazon special, honestly, but I'm happy with it's construction and cheap enough to replace one day with no regrets if I find it lacking. It's holding an IFAK and I stuck a soft armor piece in the back of the pouch as well cuz why not.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZF6RJQK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IkqyFbKCXJ09R
This is what I got for about $10. If you want to get something NIR-compliant, then the HSGI Bleeder/Blowout pouch fits the ticket.
Can concur. The AWS has held up best durability wise so far. I haven't had it long, but I've had a few shooting competitions and rucks and milsims, it's performed better for me in almost every metric than blue alpha gear and AXL.
One thing I absolutely recommend is you buy something like this:
It takes up a single molle column, is cheap, and I use it to hold batteries. Cloud defensive makes a more expensive and more bully carrier, I use this and individually wrap batteries in plastic wrap to waterproof, it's held up through brutal conditions and come in very handle handy more times than I can count. We use so many electronics now, I have spare batteries for both my optics, both my lights, my headlamp, and my radio. You can find a different way to do it, but carry extra batteries. Just make sure you secure them with isolating material somehow, for example don't use aluminum foil to wrap batteries and then stick them in a pouch on your belt.
Take a look at these. Good price and decent quality, wiry knee pads.
A smaller IFAK pouch is definitely my next step for this belt. I've gone from a sketchy pouch with sketchy contents to that same sketchy pouch with legit contents, lol, it's due for a replacement.
Your alternative is to wear some neoprene sports padded sleeves example. It’s not a perfect solution but helps.
But yeah I’ve used the Hatch XTAC and they worked well enough. Problem with external knee pads like those is that your pants ride up and may expose the lip of your boots/shoe and lets in debris, that’s if you use shoes or mid height boots which can be remedied with hiking gaiters.
If you're in a place where you just want an affordable holster until you get a light I'd recommend going on amazon, searching for the holster you want then finding a used one. here is a safariland m18 holster that doesn't require a light and also has on used for ~$19.
replace the strings on your zippers with pulls like this and it'll make unzipping one handed a breeze
this set has an assortment of sizes all the way down to 3 L. I use the 3 to 4 smallest sizes and pack them in a 60L pack to create light weight dividers. you can also use the larger sizes to bundle things like your sleep system and keep them in the bottom of your pack
I would just get a set of these fractional weights for barbells and throw them in thr plate pocket.
To help be more specific, you're talking about the Rifle mag G-Code Scorpion not the pistol mag scorpion.
Walker's Razor Quad Electronic Muffs- 4 Mic 360 Degree Sound Capture https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06W576CHT/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_89D4K7CVHQMXE106W5G0
So would this be a decent option to start with? I'd love a helmet someday but don't know when that'd be in my budget so if I have to upgrade ear pro as well so be it.
Another option is to use a more standard size back back, and let it stick out the top. If you stick a cut down cardboard mailing tube over the top, you just look like a courrier, or architecture student or something.

I suggest these airplane pilot battery holders. If you wanna get super high speed you can add velcro to the back of them and velcro them to the insides of your pouches. These IMO take up the least amount of space while holding the most amount of batteries securely. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AKIQ1RI?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
I used a 5.11 radio pouch for years. Nothing fancy, but it worked and despite the 5.11 quality going downhill faster than my stock portfolio it held up very well.
They're a great company, took around 8 days to get my package. They also have a lot of odd Euro gear if you look through their catalog.
The dump pouch pairs really well with this mag pouch along with a 10-speed dual pistol mag pouch.
I bought a pair of ear muffs for each of my children. The ones below that I bought go small enough while they are really little (I have a pic of my daughter taking a nap in her infant car seat with them on while I was at the range). I have used them with my kids for concerts or going to the range. They also come in handy if I am mowing the yard or am using power tools in the shop and they want to hang out where I am. They also fit on my head so they will work for my kids as they grow.

As for if there is an over the ear Bluetooth option, I would look at some of the options that are available in the construction section. I know some guys that use them at my work to listen to music, but unfortunately I can’t put more perspective other than that. Oh, and Axil (the company that made these earbuds) also have an over the ear version that presumably has the same capabilities than the ear bud.
As for wired, funnily enough I have switched over to wired from these for my music. Very surprisingly these cheap earpro/headphones from Amazon have worked wonders for me. I don’t like talking number when it comes to ear pro, because based off of how much hearing you’ve lost and how they are inserted is going to drastically affect your experience. That being said, it says something like 29dBs of hearing protection and I would say that it’s pretty close. Also the audio quality is surprisingly good. No microphone on there, but I’m sure there’s one that you can try that might work and would be leagues cheaper than the Axils. But if you don’t want to buy a more than likely chinesium ear buds and don’t care about the price or comfort of the Axils, then I think you already know your answer. It’s definitely serviceable for what it is, but I would not shell out $170 for it. Shop around if you are dead set on getting them.

Frankly you sweat like mad anyway in that kind of heat. It does provide some evaporative cooling as it fills with sweat a bit then gets cold when it evaporates away. Mine isn't silk though. It's basically this guy only it wasn't $50. I'd bet one of the Chinese $10 masks would work equally well to evaporate away moisture in heat.
As for suffocating, again, warm weather balaclavas should provide some ability to breath through them. Not all are created equal though and you'll likely find that breathability varies. I also have some 'buff' type sleeves that are fine enough, but breathing through them for even a short period of time causes a lot of moisture inside it which is far from pleasant. I opted for a cheap multi pack though so it could just be an inferior material blend. You can fold those guys up into a balaclava shape too though and ultimately I would guess they could be more versatile.
I wear Blackhawk suspenders and they fucking rule. They take basically all of the weight off of my hips and put it on my shoulders. They fit around my duty belt just fine.
Couple links for them:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003ELFHOQ/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_FY7PVQQY2GVEH41VH4X7
So my problem now is my rig belt is hook and loop to my inner belt. I hate using keepers to attach the two. My current suspenders use clips to attach the suspenders to the keepers, which works fine until I need to undo all the keepers to take the belt off. So I tried attaching the keepers only to my duty belt, but with all our crap it winds up blocking so much of the dirty belt that it doesn't properly attach to the inner belt.
My idea was to get suspenders like this and attach some sort of under hook so that I can just hook it under the duty belt and inner belt, then adjust the tightness. This way I can just loosen it slightly to unhook and he free of the suspenders.
Apologies for the basic question, but I'm also the owner of an M&P 15 Sport II. How do you like the UTG Rail? I've been looking at upgrading the plastic heatshield/handguard and I'm looking at mlok options.
I was under the impression that I was only looking at drop-in carbine length handguards. I'm seeing on your gun you have the rifle length on there? And that can work? It looks like it just screws onto the end of the drop-in section.
Also wondering about the optics. I was recently told that the Romeo5 + Juliet 3 was a really expensive option. Am I missing something with these products? Under $300 for both combined with great reviews. But people were telling me to "save money" and buy like a $500 scope. I'm open to other options, I just don't know if there's some catch i'm missing.
Apologies if links aren't allowed, I'll remove them if so but I didn't see it in the rules.
Durability wise, it sucks. It rolled around in a camping box and just from rubbing against a mildly sharp edge it started to fray. And the zipper is dog shit.
But if it’s not a hard use item, this thing is incredibly warm. I love thinsulate with all my heart. I fucked up and took only my summer sleeping bag, and using this as a liner fixed my wagon down to 35 degrees.
Since most people keep saying to go look at backpacking forums, I’d recommend the book Lipsmackin' Backpackin': Lightweight, Trail-Tested Recipes for Backcountry Trips
Plenty of used copies for 5 dollars, has over 200 recipes, lists nutritional info, weight, prep (at home and on the trail), etc. Pick your favorite recipes, buy the ingredients and put aside some time for prep. Has room for like 10 extra mags. I keep all my cleaning materials in it and also some random tools (mallet, armorers wrench, multi tool, etc) I carry tons of stuff and have zero issues with it.
I got a couple pairs of these Kevlar laces on Amazon. One set got me through two pairs of Danner boots over about three years with heavy use. They're still fine functionally after all that, they are just a little funky looking. Definitely very happy with them for the price.

Regular power bank
120v to USB for wall
USB to USB for, uh, other USB devices?
Does this cover it? Is there anything else you're trying to scavenge? This probably is not going to be as elegant as the Galvion option, but it's gonna be a hell of a lot cheaper. Could probably do something with a hard case to keep it all organized.
I may have exaggerated slightly but you can scope it out locally at your nearest Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart, etc as well. I found mine at Home Depot and haven't used half of what I got yet. I'm pleased with the mag pouches I swapped over though. 10/10 would do again.
those Portable Aqua tablets are nice. just got me some and tested it out, works great
yeah theres videos about it on the internet. essentially you take a sawyer mini, cut your tubing and then attach the filter to both sides of the hose. if you really wanna get creative, get some quick disconnects (i used 2 males and 2 females) from camelbak and now you can detach your filter for cleaning or stand alone use without having to take apart your whole system. i carry 2 sawyers on me. one on my camelbak and the other is the sawyer gallon filter kit. the Sawyer mini kit also fits perfectly into an alice m16 pouch
> more options for accessories like shoulder mics
There are plenty of accessory options for the UV-5R, like shoulder mics and even PTTs for Comtacs. Definitely won't argue the other points: my UV-5R is more of a squad radio and have yet to expose it to the snow, so we'll see how that goes this winter.
I also wanted something compact. I settled on a knockoff of the T.Rex MED 1 pouch. Modified the elastic insert to my liking as its not as well thought out as the T.Rex insert. I don't need to get to my medical kit faster than it takes to undo one side of a zipper and imo its more secure than the BFG. Fits 1x 4" NAR ETD, 1x Celox rapid z-fold gauze, 1x compressed z-fold gauze, 2x compact hyfin chest seals, and a TQ on the bottom. Could definitely cram shears in there if you wanted but I keep those elsewhere.

Nope, not even those. If I had to guess the reasoning, its because Here's one on Amazon, and there's no way to tell if its real shit or not until you open it. Even then, when shits going down, its going to be hard to know for sure if you're using good stuff. A ton of businesses here have public access kits, so I feel comfortable walking around without any kit on me.

You are using the Defense Mechanisms radio pouch correct? I've been looking for ways to get a radio on my Spiritus rig and have had some issues. While the design of this one looks neat its not really compatible with the Spiritus H harness I'm using. Their stand alone pouch might work though if I paracord or zip tie it to the straps. I bet you could use something like this split wire loom tubing. And wrap it in cloth tape.
I'd probably use heat shrink tubing. It's not wildly flexible but it should be good enough.
For soldering, they make solder connectors that all you have to do is stick the wires in and hit it with a heat gun. No soldering iron required.
As long as you have it a-part you might want to look into some conformal coating. Idk how often you get wet but it never hurts to protect your gear from water. Just be sure to pull the battery and tape off the battery connectors before you use it.

Cheap flexible cutting board. Walmart, Target, Amazon, Dollar General. If you pay more than $2 for it, you probably overpaid for your intended purpose. If it's flexible enough, you could tuck it somewhere into your gear but why would you really ever need it outside of your own home?
I got these at Walmart or somewhere for $7 and don't like them much for a cutting board (warps after a while and curls so anything moist you cut makes a mess) but you could make more than a dozen of what you need with them.
Hell, get a few old milk jugs, melt them down in your garage, and cut to the size you need. Free.99.

Hey there.
Yessir. I've put my review ultimately on hold until I have more time with the jackets to tell everyone else.
That being said, I think my initial frustrations with the WindCheater while founded, are ultimately because I was not the intended audience. I need more time to test.
THAT BEING SAID. This jacket I'm linking HERE is cheap, effective and ultimately serviceable. My ONLY two complaint as to this jacket is the interior stitching seems poorly done but strong still and it has a garbage zipper.
Seriously fuck this zipper.
That being said, for less than 1/4th the cost I have no qualms rolling in the dirt and tearing the shit out of this thing while staying warm.
In high winds you will want a L5 / hardshell or underlayer to break the wind for the record. It is my now daily wear to and from locations, wherein once arrived and static I will switch to the windcheater.
I've found the WC really does excel in active scenarios under armor. Otherwise it's a comfortable casual wear jacket indoors. Extensive testing required.
I have no experience with it, but I am going to get something like that. I do have my eye on this:

I was referring to non-rechargeable lithium, such as your standard "Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA Batteries" this variety is the best for preppers and inclement weather. These preform better than lead acid in almost all cases, but are more expensive.
Gotcha, I mean most of the mid tier G-Shocks should be good to go. Depending on your price range, I’d suggest with looking at the Rangeman and Mudmaster models. That should help narrow things down quite a bit for a feature comparison.

If you don't wrestle with crackheads for a living you can get a Safariland ALS holster and a mid ride adapter to save money on a level 2 ALS Duty holster.

Would absolutely 100% recommend using a gooseneck antenna on a radio. If you’ve got the blade threaded straight in you run this risk of snapping it off at the base if it ever takes a really hard hit like if you have to go prone hard.
Thanks man! I really dig it. Believe it or not, found this little gem on Amazon. Here's the link, in case you're interested: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074QX7P86/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Rolling with a set of Comtac IIs connected up to a Peltor PTT into a baofeng UV5R via a Disco 32 adapter cable. Rocking an upgraded antenna from Abbree.
If you’re not going to run an antenna relocator, I’d also recommend getting a gooseneck for your antenna so you can move it around out of the way if you’re going to run a longer, better antenna(which id definitely recommend). Also you’re way less likely to snap an antenna off if it’s got flex in it.
The antenna and adapter in question. also it ships way faster than the amazon page says. Think mine took two and a half weeks to show up from China.
