I'm in the western nevada mountains, high altitude. In the summer it's very hot and we have ~30% more UV radiation than sea level. It's very dry though; I'll take 100 degrees of dry heat over 80 degrees with heavy humidity any day.
There are some jobs that are just plain stupid to do mid summer. Last year I was working a chainsaw and with all the protective equipment it's just way too hot.
I was doing some trenching over the last few days and it crept up into the 90s, so I'd throw out this advice:
Lot of Debby Downers here. Don't lose hope! As others have said, that's not a lot of land, but if you're clever, you can make a living. Look in to value added products and selling direct to consumer. The book You Can Farm will teach you a lot. You may also want to watch this video by Vanguard Ranch.
Hmm, I don't know if I'd rock those lol. The one I got just has metal tips so it's a little less in your face, but ultimately it's your call here. Here
Terrific, I'll give those a shot. I found this one, I might have to nuke those tassels unless someone can convince me that those are okay.

I think this comes down to how creative you are, how much work you’re willing to put in, how much vision you have, and if you’re willing to change the way you see things. I suggest reading the book Dirt to Soil, and then generating a game plan.

I'm slowly adding internet to the entire ranch. I'm close enough to a small town that I was able to work a deal with a rural internet provider to run fiber optic all the way down to me. So I have high speed internet in the middle of nowhere lol.
So from the house I'm setting up a network of long range wireless. The devices themselves are cheap and real easy to configure. Power and the fact that they are line of sight is the hard/expensive part.
I've set up a couple of small solar power stations, but that's where it gets expensive mainly because of the batteries.
My end goal is to have cameras all over the place so I can see what's going on all over using zoneminder to manage the cameras.
I set up a raspberry pi to run zoneminder so that the power draw is not much. Also use anydesk so that I can connect to it remotely.
I don't live at the ranch so it helps me check on things from afar.
you should be able to get a bare frame for back packing and strap most the stuff on. Something like this. I'd pack it in with my horse though.
