Where I live, only Spectrum is available so they have me locked in. My internet got so bad, I was unplugging it multiple times an hour. It was unusable. Two things I did. First, I filed a complaint with the FCC. That got me someone at corporate who came out and did some actual repairs. Second, I got my own modem. Everyone I talked to at Spectrum said they've been having issues with their modems. They have several models which all look the same on the outside but are different on the inside. Some of theirs are awful and will drop the internet constantly. I was never able to get one of the modems with the 'good internal components' so I just got my own.
