There are the ones I have here, worth a shot. I find it calms the lightning down a bit 😆 Air Massagers
This is honestly the only thing that actually helps me, too. I ended up buying two of these (one for each leg). It doesn’t make it go away completely, but the compression/ice combo alleviates it enough that I’m no longer in total misery and can actually sleep.
I have used something similar for over a decade: medi-rub foot plate massager. When I was pregnant, I would just turn it on and sleep with my legs draped over it. It’s well over a decade old now, still running like a champ.
Highly recommend, if shaking your limbs or vibration works as a distraction technique for you. Worth every penny:

I've been using it for years. It used to be in the Harriet Carter catalog but like everything else, is now on Amazon...
Was taking 6mg a day of this at first (3 pills daily) : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PR0U7I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But then a week later decided I wanted to do 10 mg so got this one and took two of these daily and two of the first type: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083JLLS1S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As best as I can remember, it stopped while I was only taking 6 mg a day, so within the first few days. Bear in mind I wasn’t taking it for RLS, just realized I don’t have RLS anymore. Total time on boron has been about a month.
Yeah, it took me 30 years to find out that this is not just me with quirky legs, but it is an actual health condition...
Try a hand massager like this https://www.amazon.com/MegaWise-Massager-Handheld-Shoulders-Powerful/dp/B08F22SGN1 - do it until you feel a lot of buzz in your calves. Beware that it wears off rather quickly, don't mess around and try to fall asleep while this buzz is stronger than RLS.
How is this different from calf massagers like this? https://www.amazon.ca/Human-Touch-Reflex5s-Vibration-Massager/dp/B07WJZCCKK
These are the ones that I use. Work great and are easy to put on with the zipper. Have not tried them out on a plane yet, but I think they will work welll.
This is what I'm taking right now. It was the only option Amazon had for same morning delivery one night I got hit had by RLS. It recommends taking 3 capsules @ 300 mg daily, but I usually just take two before bed when I remember and two if I ever wake up with RLS. I might look for a cheaper option when I'm through with it but if that one doesn't work, I'll def go back to these. Not sure if the other ingredients help.
I've tried a Garmin before but I wasn't sure about accuracy... Have you tried using your fitbit with an ankleband?
It might not be exactly the same but when I read your post I got a sense of deja vu! I use 'toe alignment' socks when I'm trying to sleep (thats when its at its worst) maybe they might help you?
I was taking oral iron after my low ferritin number. The sleep doctor freaked when he saw how fast I shot up though and asked me to stop. I have stayed in the 80-100 range ever since (4 years now). I would like to try raising it a little higher, but I"ll need to go in for tests every 90 days or so to be sure I don't over shoot.
I really don't think it matters, but I was taking this: https://smile.amazon.com/MegaFood-Builder-Production-Constipation-Gluten-Free/dp/B0001532T0 with 200 mg of vitamin C, which helps with iron absorption.
When i feel my rls acting up I always use the strongest cooling massage gel that you can buy in my country. It provides instant relief because the mint provides the cold feeling which suppresses the nerve sensitivity in my legs
This is the one similar to what i use: https://www.amazon.de/SwissMedicus-Pferdebalsam-k%C3%BChlend-extra-stark/dp/B075FRBTXB

Give the above a try before bed & as a "rescue" option if you don't mind the expense. As far as indica (cannabis) goes - have you tried smoking/vaping as a rescue option?
That's a very low dose of gabapentin and if it works, keep at that dose. I am up to 1500mg/night if I need it and know that some folks talke 1800-2000mg/day. If the 100mg doesn't seem to be working, tell Dr that you'd like to up the dose. You can go 100mg up at a time.
Gabapentin has been the only thing that has worked for my RLS. I've tried to dopamine drugs the AL2 drugs and nothing worked.
I am also prescribed Ambien CR 6.25 mg/at bed and Klonopin .50 at bed, though I don't take the klonopin that often as it makes me crabby or even angry in the mornings.
I took the book "Clinical Management of Restless Leg Syndrome" to my neurologist so he'd be just as informed as I was. This is a go to book for RLS doctors.
I was desperate and had tried just about everything recommended with moderate results. I started talking taurine as I was getting into bed and it's made a significant difference. Look into how it interacts with an SSRI before though.
This is the one I take. I take one tablet at bedtime and another if I wake up during the night.
I bought one of the Renpho models. Renpho Percussion Massager
I have had it for a few months and so far it works great and holds a charge a long time.
Yes, it was the best thing for my first pregnancy (which was totally mismanaged from an RLS standpoint).
I have this one, well- the model they sold in 2010. It’s lasted and is still going strong.

I got this one from amazon, two different covers. The cooling one is, well, very cooling. I feel like it kinda smothers my rls, like my legs just can't bother to move much.
Yes, I have severe primary RLS. It was out of control with my first pregnancy. I was on Mirapex at the time (and augmenting), and had to go off of it— it’s counterindicated in pregnancy. My physicians actually encouraged Benedryl, which is the worst. I barely made it, using this foot plate massager in bed:
Second pregnancy, I was with a top doc and on different meds. I still had to stop the Horizant and Neupro, but stayed on methadone and tapered down to the lowest possible dose to have relief. My son (now 8) was born a little lighter than my first (6 lbs vs. 9 lbs), but completely healthy. A low dose of methadone is considered the gold standard for pregnant women with severe RLS.
It freaked me out at the time, but I learned about the risks (neonatal abstinence syndrome - NAS -, aka baby goes through withdrawal, and low birth weight). But all the research has been done with pregnant women going through addiction and heroin withdrawal. They take exponentially higher doses than women with RLS, so the research doesn’t exactly line up. My son was on the small side, but totally healthy and had no withdrawal symptoms.
If you have any questions, please feel free to DM me.
I'm not using it right now. Tried CBD first lol. But here's a link for some powdered type:
I would likely go with a product like this bc it's orange flavored. There are others, but I've heard the flavors can be iffy. You could buy empty capsules and put this in them. It's also available in pill form. Second link is pills.

I've done the ivory soap under the fitted sheet off and on for years, and can't tell if there's any effect. Still do it, though.
Yeah, seems like if people do find a partial or full solution it is often quite unique. I haven't tried a eucalyptus rub. Is this the cheapest you've found of the good stuff other than BenGay, which I detest the smell of?
My symptoms have evolved over the years, and I'm dreading growing old and losing all semblance of control. I've had periods of intense daytime symptoms, though not currently.
Bought some CBD oil (no high) from a local head shop (WA State), but haven't gotten it together to give it a go yet. Takes me a long time to follow-through anything, between the RLS and ADD.
I'm hoping I'm about ready to address both again. It's hard to keep the focus.
The mustard packet in the mouth -- sheesh, I guess I'll have to try gargling with it. Has it come to this?
Man, you just described what my RL triggers are to the letter.
One possible cause that I've been told about is a condition I have called Crohn's Disease. A gastrointestinal issue that's more complicated than to go into here, but one of the problems that it causes me is internal bleeding. This causes me to have a much lower hemoglobin count as a healthy person should, which causes anemia, which has been shown to exacerbate RL. Fun, huh?
For relief, I take gabapentin every night about an hour before I go to bed. This is a prescription anticonvulsant medication that seems to help.
I've also found that if I put hot compresses on my legs for awhile after getting into bed, that helps quite a bit as well.
Another part of my night routine before bed is to drink a cup of herbal tea.
