Biggest piece of advice I can give is that it’s likely your baby will hulk his/her way out of the swaddle, so you might want to look up a double swaddle option so your little Houdini doesn’t wake himself up in the middle of the night with an errant arm. I found this arms only swaddle band because I didn’t want to have multiple layers (we live in Southern California and it’s hot), but I know others who pair their Snoo swaddles with the Love to Dream swaddle. If you live somewhere colder, the layers might be a good thing.
Drowsy but awake is something you’ll hear a lot, but it can be a frustrating experience for new parents, especially in the early weeks when all you want to do is get more than a two hour stretch of sleep. That being said, the Snoo is really good at doing some of the hard work for you, so sometimes drowsy but awake does work because the Snoo’s rocking and soothing will carry you over the sleep finish line.
Drowsy but awake works best at night for us. Our bedtime routine includes baby massage, soft lullaby music, dim lights and a bottle of expressed breastmilk given to baby by dad. He burps and changes her when she gets midway through the bottle so he doesn’t rouse her from her drowsy state. We finish off the bottle, burp her again then strap her into the Snoo. She’s usually awake, but sleepy, and will toss and turn a bit before settling down. Sometimes the Snoo does need to go up to the higher levels but most of the time, the Snoo does the trick for us.
I’ve been practicing naps in her crib so she has two places where she’s comfortable sleeping and I can get ready for the eventual transition. But in those early days, feel free to put baby down in the Snoo all the time, especially as you get LO acclimated.
You NEED to watch this video from Dr Karp (SNOO inventor). We watched it at about 2 months and we wish we watched it sooner. You have to understand the 5 S’s to soothe your baby and how the SNOO actually works to be able to fully utilize it. We had the same issues as you and once we figured out we had to calm our baby down enough first BEFORE going into the SNOO, he has slept beautifully. I think this video highlights “difficult” babies like you and I likely have. Maybe most babies you can just put them into the SNOO and it rocks them to sleep but that never worked for us. We had to get to the point where he was nearly asleep in our arms before putting him in. The whole “head jiggle” was a game changer for us. The video displays it beautifully and I believe it was made before the SNOO even existed

I purchased these (looks like they went up in price to around $18 in the last few months), but I think most flexible bassinet sheets will fit the SNOO. Pro-tip: turn the SNOO mattress over and adjust the fit from the back side.
These are recommended in the Snoo Babies FB group. I love them.

This was about the time we moved our guy from batwing swaddle method to double swaddling the snoo sack over the love to dream swaddle. Helped him transition to arms out (it took another month because that's about the time he discovered he has HANDS and wouldn't fall asleep when they were free to move around).
But the batwing method was what we used before that because we couldn't keep his arms down with just the velcro no matter how tight it was.
If you end up wanting different sheets, thesefit well. I think they have different designs .

Definitely extra sheets! I didn't think to get those at first and found myself improvising a makeshift fitted sheet at 3am. I bought these off-brand sheets: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D6MLZH9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and they work really well.
A friend recommended this when our son was about 6 weeks old. So we started late but caught up quickly. Such a life saver! The Dream Feed Method: How We Got Our Babies Sleeping from Dusk Till Dawn. We really only needed a second snoo swaddle a couple times, so I doubt you would need 3! You are doing laundry so often anyways with a newborn, that it's not a problem. Here are the sheets we bought, they seem to get recommended a lot for the Snoo.
We got these for our bedroom and they helped a ton. They are super easy to install and remove once our kiddo moved into his own room

Okay so this is not the SAFEST or AAP-approved solution, but I feel pretty comfortable with it because the baby is obviously swaddled and strapped into the Snoo. We bought this on Amazon for her to have something to look other than our boring white ceiling, and have found that draping a breathable, muslin blanket over it provides a little bit of darkness. There's no way at this stage she can pull it down.

I would suggest a combo: anti-scratch tape + spraying citron oil (or any anti-scratch solutions on it). That way he won't be attracted to lick it.
Our cat does the same with OUR bed every 5am, so we had to almost fully wrap the bed in anti-scratch tape. He is just showing he is up and wants us to get out. Also sneaky, smart bastard - whom we love but hate at 5am. Good luck!
Hm... We can't hear it at all on our first floor. Snoo is on the 2nd floor.
Try a rug on top of a rubber floor mat to insulate the sound and vibration.
A cheap rubber mat like this: https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Plate-Rubber-Flooring-Rolls/dp/B01DCR5FI4/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?keywords=rubber+floor+mat&qid=1662759521&sr=8-9
A rug on top to cover it up and hopefully that will work.

They're for the spindle on the motor, not the bearings that surround the outer edges.
This fixed it for us! If you've got jerking motion and/or stoppage, and you've got a pile of black powder on the motor, this is probably the problem. I did not have to replace the motor bearings.
My twins both have flat spots. We tried the tortle but they haaate it. We bought pillows like this and they kind of help keep their heads straight. They take daytime naps in the cribs, and so we attached fun things for them to look at on the side of the crib where we wanted them to turn (e.g., one of my babies has a flat spot on the right side of his head, so all the fun things to look at are attached to the left side of his crib).
My problem is that one of them DOESN'T turn his head so it's the back of his head that is flat. The only thing that really seems to be helping him is increasing tummy time, which I have done for both, and I am seeing small improvement over time.

Here’s what’s so far been working for us with a really gassy and fussy 7.5 wk old baby:
Nutramigen These anti colic gripe water alternative drops: Colic Calm Homeopathic Gripe Water, Colic & Infant Gas Relief Drops, 2 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00282S83E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_YZBJCAPBZGDDVE7R4TCF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
We give them to her in the morning, latest until 11a depending on if we remember them for her 8a feed. And then again in the evening during her evening feed around 7.
For every other feed we give her the little remedies gas drops.
Hold her up for 15-30 minutes with some solid cupped patting on the back plus up and down rubbing motions. Get about 3-4 good burps out of her usually with some spit up.
Incline her pillow up just slightly with one of the swaddle blankets from the hospital we still have (this is in her snoo). In her regular crib we have a crib mattress wedge meant for gassy babies, and then put another towel on it. We bought a Velcro swaddle for her in that that kept her locked into place because otherwise she’d rotate herself upside down completely and have reflux which led to more screaming.
Since we made these changes, the spit up mid slee has reduced dramatically.
We’re doing our first run with the snoo right now and so far so good so we’ll see if it continues.
Something that helped me with my supply was fenugreek + blessed thistle supplement 3 tabs 3 times daily. amazon has it
Hope you feel better soon OP. Being sick with a baby that little sucks
A friend recommended this book when my son was 6 weeks old and it was amazing for us. Using the methods even earlier with my second child.

We have the Snoo but but we put it on weening mode right away. She didn’t really like the motion.
Hope this helps. It’s been a life saver for us.
There’s no way I could have fit the crib through my doors (old house) and I was not about to take it apart then put it back together. I just put a pack and play on the raised setting (like this ) and it’s perfect for us.
The Ana and Eve swaddle inside the Snoo sack has been a life saver. Didn’t find out about it until our first was a few months old, but using it from the start with our second.

Also sorry about the spelling... I wrote that from my phone while I was feeding him at about 3 am. Also I agree, I thought 6:40 was early too but it's made a huge difference for us, we had to move up the bedtime slowly but now we are consistent with that time and he goes down really easily and stays asleep.
Our twins spit up A LOT. Like all the time. We had two extra sleep sacks and two extra waterproof sheets for each baby. It might seem like overkill, but I never had to dry a sleep sack in a panic and I always had a clean, dry replacement in case each kid destroyed everything twice.
We used these portable black out curtains. They are easy to install behind your existing curtains and you can move them to the nursery or take them with you when you travel.
I think it's called a "phone wire butt terminal connector" believe it or not, here's a link to something that looks similar on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Hilitchi-200-Pcs-Terminal-Connectors-Assortment/dp/B072BSP7ZD/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=1ZZ3ELXNWGR82&keywords=wire+connector+button&qid=1642379896&sprefix=wire+connector+button%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-5
The thing that matters most is the gauge, and I think the Snoo wires are the smallest. These button connectors are good though because you don't have to strip anything, you stick the two wires into the slots and jam the button down which cuts through the insulation. You don't need the special pliers I just used regular pliers I had already.
Honey though if you went to an electricians store and explained it, I'm sure there are ton of other ways to securely connect two wires together.

For reference I used an M2 drill bit to carefullt drill out the screws then purchased an M3×.05 dye to create new threads and finally purchased these new set screws:
This is what we did, too. We got this one and it works to keep our baby’s arms down. We’ve also tried Love to Dream, but he wakes himself up more in it.

Fellow batwing believer over here! We kept them until 4mo when we knew she was good and ready to graduate to arms out. We used these Muslin Burp Cloths: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NSVTFS3/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_6MY67BQ61Q5PQAW6HBKP
We had our bub in a onesie and used a muslin burp cloth (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NSVTFS3/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_dl_WTJ03NGSCCXSW1Q9HAHJ) to do batwings (https://www.happiestbaby.com/blogs/baby/baby-breaks-out-of-snoo-sack-swaddle) to keep her arms in.
We kept her in the batwings until 4mo and it was a seamless transition to both arms out.
We bought these from Amazon and they work okay. The elastic is quite tight and they bend up the thin Snoo mattress a bit, but it’s generally not a problem. We keep the Snoo sack attached into the Snoo and just take the baby in and out.

Yes. For the first 2.5 months I used a velcro swaddle because he'd break out of any swaddle blanket. Then I transitioned to one of these and I'm still using these now. He finds his thumb and sucks on it to self soothe in the middle of the night.
I did have clothes underneath but we kept the house pretty cold (and it's cold here at night now). I never zipped the snoo sack up fully, just the waist strap and then put his legs into the bottom of the sack and zipped up his legs. I put him in the footed onesie pajamas, thinner material if it was warmer or fleece for our current weather. Of course that's not necessary if your house is warm, but my husband likes to sleep with windows open even if it's 50 degrees out!
I bought these and started letting his arms out for bedtime. I just use the velcro strap across his chest/waist now from the snoo. During the day we've been doing all crib naps in a zipadee zip for about a month.
I think you can unzip the snoo sack so the arms can go through. However, I bought a few of these sleep sacks. I put my son in this with 1 arm out, then just put the velcro band from the snoo around his waist. Don't bother with the rest of the sack.
We used this - we moved it from Snoo, to Babybjorn Bassinet, UppaBaby Bassinet, etc

Similar to what others have said, I would suggest:
3 extra sheets (your SNOO will come with one), which will cut down on laundry. Don't spend the money on the Happiest Baby brand; general fitted bassinet sheets will work and are much cheaper. We purchased these from Amazon
1 extra sleep sack (not sleapnea) in sizes Small and Medium and 2 extra sleep sacks in size Large (your SNOO will come with 1 in each size). I found our LO spent the most time in the size Large and that was when he got them the dirtiest too. He would occasionally pee through his sleep sack (which makes sense when he was sleeping 11 solid hours) and also had two rounds of a stomach bug in his Large (thanks, daycare!). Having 3 of the Large was a relief!
Don't buy the extender legs. Tuna cans work just as well. Don't buy sleapneas; we never used them.
Extra sheets - my baby was refluxy and after a few times of finding her with a wet head I wised up as started putting her down on a burp cloth. You'll need extra sheets. I got these on Amazon. A pillowcase also works!
Extra sack in current size
My daughter did that, she's still doing it after stopping for awhile but I think it has something to do with sleep regression. Hopefully it stops soon. We aren't room sharing anymore so that helps a lot!
My suggestion to you would be ear plugs. I promise you will hear baby when they need you but if they are just making regular crazy baby sleep sounds it helps mute that a little. This is what I used while we were still room sharing because I'm a side sleeper: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LPPTC46/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_NSAHHTMV1PJERQVPV2EH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I was about to find a few free minutes to head to Kia today. I measured and there's no way the Snoo fits in the trunk even with the 3rd row in it's most upright position. It won't fit in the GLS trunk either so I'll have to get a cargo carrier like this one and put it in a weatherproof tote.
We got the Lectrofan based on a recommendation from moms-on-call. It’s certainly less interesting noise than Snoo, but it gets the job done without needing internet.

I used this arms up swaddle under the snoo sack and it worked really well for us: https://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Baby-Transitional-Swaddle-Sterling/dp/B0775VNY72
It has a bit more give in the arms than the other arms up swaddles I tried so my baby was able to suck his hand through the fabric and it was a good transition to arms out. Bonus, it costs a lot less than the big name swaddles.
We ended up just getting this much cheaper alternative to the stand to use with the SNOO in our room and have the wall mount in the nursery over the crib. It does come in handy to see baby from the monitor because we can check to see if she’s actually drifting off without her seeing us and waking up.
Oddly enough, leaning back didn’t help me much the first few times I tried it! It took some practice to find a comfortable position where her latch was solid so maybe play around with it. One thing I noticed is that it’s really difficult to feed leaning backwards if you are engorged (I think the force of gravity comes into play here because she is essentially face planted into a hard basketball) so I try to express milk first before trying that position. And I hesitated to buy a scale as well because of the cost, but I am planning on reselling it once we no longer use it. This is the one we bought and it’s not a huge investment: Beurer BY80 Baby Scale, Pet Scale, Digital, For: Infant, Newborns, Puppy, Cats, LCD Display, Weighs [LB/OZ/KG] Highly Accurate, Hold & Tare Function, Curved Weighing Platform (44 lbs) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00QHK99CC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_M8740XDNJEDZDTSRA8TJ?psc=1. If you decide to buy this one, I should note that there is a switch underneath the scale to change between pounds and ounces. I would pay careful attention to that because the measurements can be confusing if you don’t have it set to the right unit! I really hope some (any) of this helps and I wish you all the best. These last several weeks have been so incredibly amazing and yet so challenging and frustrating—it is comforting and therapeutic to talk through the experience with others who understand!

Second this - if you are in the UK, these sheets fit well (not perfect ofcourse) and are waaaaaay cheaper BabyPrem Baby Moses Bassinet Pack of 2 Fitted Cotton Sheets 80 x 40cm White: Amazon.co.uk: Baby
On the sacks - We had 2x Small, 3x Medium, 2 Large. Baby outgrew the small sack quite quickly (4-5 weeks) so be careful how many you get especially since you don't know the size of baby.
Also, there are two iterations of the sleep sack, the new versions have an additional strap across the crotch area and are a lot roomier..... which makes buying choices more complicated. At 3 months and c.6kg, our LO is tight in the "old" M size sack but could last atleast 2 more months in the "new" sacks! If you get the new sacks, then maybe hold off buying Large, until you need them..... we don't think we will get to it with the new style sacks.
Absent blow-outs and lots of reflux, we change sacks/sheets maybe every 5-6 days. We got cheap sheets on Amazon: BabyPrem Baby Moses Bassinet Pack of 2 Fitted Cotton Sheets 80 x 40cm White: Amazon.co.uk: Baby
This halo sleep sack is what we used to transition at 6 months. We started by moving the bassinet into his room from ours on day 1, day 2 we put the snoo on weaning mode, day 3 we started with the crib for both naps and night.
We did our own version of Ferber but he really didn’t cry for long before figuring it out. I want to say 20-25 mins (with check ins periodically) was our max.
For us, any arms out in the snoo in an effort to wean just didn’t work. He would touch the sides and wake up. He honestly sleeps great in the crib now on his belly. It did take me awhile to get used to him sleeping face down but he was a strong roller when we transitioned him so it helped ease my worry.
We skipped the Merlin for the same reason you mentioned - we didn’t want to have to transition out of something else.
This one! I just open the arm holes on the snoo sack and he's able to wiggle his arms around without waking himself up too much)
Got an update. We got the GLinet travel router. Link below. It takes the open hotel network and allows me to create my own 5ghz and 2.4 ghz network. It also comes with ethernet in and out.
We got the SNOO (only supports 2.5ghz), Nanit, 2 laptops, 2 phones and a tablet. Working great.
My son is only 6 weeks old and so far, we haven't needed more than 2 sacks. We've been almost exclusively using the medium since birth (he was 8 lb 1 oz at birth, dropped to as low as 7 lb 1 oz early on) since we double swaddle him, so I wish we didn't get bonus smalls. He spits up quite a bit, but it never usually gets on the sack.
I definitely recommend at least 1 extra sheet. We bought non Snoo sheets that work just fine, they're just not a tight fit like the Snoo brand one.
Not late to the party! Does swaddling work on your LO in general? Another trick we do that hasn’t been mentioned here is we clip this Tiny Love mobile (link below) onto the SNOO. We put LO into the SNOO, engage clip, not yet turning the SNOO on. LO stares at the mobile in amazement. We back out of his room like cartoon characters, close the door, watches him on the monitor and then remotely turn on the SNOO via app.
We just hit 18 weeks today, and have had both arms out for about a week now. Had one arm out starting around 15 weeks. He still startles sometimes when being picked up or lowered in, but sleeps great. Neither move has alerted his sleep habits at all.
He's always hated being swaddled so we used these from early on - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0081GJ038/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_WZ339GMF5BVYTBH1Z6BJ
They're very lightweight, if you reconsider double-swaddling.
Otherwise, id say try one arm out and see what happens.

We use this one in our bedroom - have had it for 5 years. It has several different options from low tones to high tones and gets loud enough. I understand you can also find the actual Snoo sounds on Spotify and play on a speaker, like a Sonos, on a repeating loop. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E6D6LQY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_T8ZN36HSTF7SC2R6YGEC
This is what I mean just to be sure we are talking about the same type of thing. I use it on delicate sweaters and lululemon pants so I’d imagine it’s gentle enough.
We got these extra sheets and they fit the snoo great! Our baby has reflux and we’ve been through all three sheets in one night before so it was worth buying these. We also have three sets of small and medium size sleepers. No need for extra mattress as it wipes clean easily!
We were doing Taking Cara Babies method and someone tipped me onto this book about the Dream Feed Method. Ideally it’s a technique you start at 4 weeks but we started at 6-7 weeks and it’s been really amazing. Basically they recommend a few variants of a pretty strict schedule where you keep stretching out feedings and build up baby’s ability to go longer without eating. This definitely trained me and my wife to work on a much more structured schedule. Kinda like when it comes to training the dog, it’s really the humans that need proper training.
Our guy is almost 3 months but sleeps now from 7:30 to 7 with 1 feeding at 11 and we will hopefully be able to drop the 11 in a few weeks. My wife was skeptical and first week was hard but then we started to see meaningful progress.

We also use a burp cloth, laid horizontally. This has worked for us for a few months and is still large enough at 4 months. It is nice bc it doesn’t add too much volume in the sack. We found a regular muslin swaddle blanket to add a lot of volume.

Love batwing.
I use a thin, small swaddle blanket. You know like the floral Instagram kinda ones that come with a headband for newborn photos? It's one of those. I told it into a triangle. It is maybe 36 or 48 by 36 or 48 inches?
At the start of the routine.
I put the sack in the snoo, fold saddle into a triangle and lay it on sack.
I fold it into a triangle, pull the corners under her body, check that the arms aren't too tight (meaning make sure her shoulders aren't being forced into an unnatural position.
Close velcro and sack.
Then I pick her up and get her sleepy or asleep and then put her back in. I never try to put my baby in the sack right at sleep time. It gets her all worked up.
Edit. This is the type of swaddle I use.

There are transition swaddles for the SNOO that allows the baby’s arms to be free.

We also went through a phase when our LO was a bit older where we would only zip the SNOO swaddle up to the tummy/chest area and allow the upper body to be free. This method can also be used if the baby is more comfortable in a swaddle that allows them to have their arms up by their head, such as a Zipadee-Zip swaddle. Just put them in the Zipadee-Zip and then the SNOO swaddle up to the waist.

These strategies worked well for us, but again our LO was a bit older when we introduced this method.
I got a three pack from BaeBae Goods on amazon for $19.99. They fit well and I appreciate having multiple because it’s no big deal to strip the bed down in the middle of the night— I never have to worry about trying to do a load of laundry before nap time.
This is the exact set I got but they do have other colors/patterns: https://www.amazon.com/Bassinet-Mattress-Collection-BaeBae-Goods/dp/B07445RTB7/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=BaeBae+Goods+Bassinet+Bed+Sheets+–+Bassinet+Fitted+Sheets+3+Pack+–+100%25+Jersey+Knit+Cotton+Cradle+Sheets+–+Bassinet+Bedding+for+S...
