You can listen to her on this episode of 'The Season of the Bitch podcast' talk about this.
> Also from a personal experience I once got into an argument with a tankie and I asked him directly “allies or axis, if you had to pick who would you pick?” And he made a very big show of refusing to answer the question and almost comically deflected at every turn. > > > > Which I think is pretty revealing. It shouldn’t take effort to get a leftist to say “I would not side with the Nazis”. > > > > So yes they have said this.
"WW2 was an inter-imperialist war" is a well established take on the left and not a specifically tankie one. Tankies tend to line up with Stalin, who of course led one of the Allied powers. The Myth of the Good War is a good example here.
In any case, no matter how you look at it, someone (probably not a tankie) refusing to pick a side between Allies and Axis because both were imperialist is in no way an example of someone saying they'd prefer the Axis.
