I bought this for my 17 year old lady who is not a tripod, works great, looks sharp, she uses it. It's not carpet, it's a cushion, but it's sleek and grey and soft. I got the medium. My tripod would use it if she were allowed anywhere near the old one, but they fight.
Good luck for your kitty! We bought a surgery "suit" for our kitty vs doing a collar. She was much more comfortable that way without being double imbalanced from the missing leg (rear in her case) and the collar. You can also probably make one from a baby onsie or t shirt I imagine. We used a two piece one similar to this: https://www.chewy.com/medipaw-recovery-protective-cat-suit/dp/285913. It was admittedly a bit of a PITA keeping clean after litter box visits (it has a hole in the rear), but it was worth the hassle I think.
Other thing we did was make sure she had a low sided litter box, and got a heated cat bed. She loved the heated bed and I think it felt good on her surgery site.
Our kitty was very rough first few days, she would try to stand up, fall over, panic, then do "crocodile rolls" trying to stand up. We kept her close to help steady and calm her down.
I've seen the plush ones shaped like flowers and toast and stuff - apparently cats hate them less than the normal Cone of Shame you get from the vet? They definitely seem like they'd be easier to eat in.
I got this one for my tripod. He’s missing a front leg too. It’s very large so it covers more of the body than the other ones I have for my other cats.
I used a 5 gallon rubbermaid kitchen tub for 3 or 4 days before my boy was back to using his regular box. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00063KZQU Or maybe I got that for when he had FHO surgery on his left rear hip (he is a right rear amputee). Anyways, for the very short period that he used it, a cardboard box and plastic bag would have held up just fine.
I adopted my girl after her amputation, so I don't know about directly after. She's missing one back leg and the paw off the other back leg. Without back legs, she has a hard time with scratching her ears. Vet reccomended a self-groomer kind of like this
My girls very much snuggles, and the stump can be a bit painful shen she hits me in the sternum in the middle of the night, but overall, cat.
Get some scratchers that you can put on corners. Helps them scratch spot they can’t get to, collects some loose fur, and will reduce them rubbing at other things. I also found that recycled paper pellet litter is more stable for mine to stand on. He’s missing a front leg though, but I assume it would help your cat as well.
Not much advice here as my cat had been a tripod long before I got him. But he has some skin issues and I have found this kind of cat cone to be really effective: cat cone good luck to you and your adorable kitty as she recovers!
Probably itchy, there's a thing you can buy that I've heard good things about from tripod owners that attaches the the corner of a wall and will let them scratch in their own.
Our cat enjoyed these little corner scratches, but he had always enjoyed rubbing corners.
hi! I don’t have a tripod but I did bring my cat on a cross country move. I bought this and while she wasn’t happy, she could at least move about and udr her litter. I didn’t feel safe having her loose (she’s a runner). hope that helps!
I got this for my tripod and he loves it. So does his four footed brother https://www.amazon.com/Irispets-Grooming-Groomer-Massager-Scratcher/dp/B07CZ3HMZT/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3CBRMDTDSYEI&dchild=1&keywords=u+shaped+cat+scratcher&qid=1596718611&sprefix=U+shaped+cat%2Caps%2C171&sr=8-2
