Here’s a better option if you still want to do this!
Better protip: spend the little extra upfront to grab a reliable laserjet printer. You can usually get replacement toner from Amazon for $9 shipped and they'll last you 2,000+ pages. Example Example toner
Remember, if you are getting interviews then your resume is good enough. If the interviews are not leading to 2nd round interviews or job offers then you need to work on your behavioral interview skills.
You can get Microsoft Office 365 (~~If you don't want to spend $20~ at CougarByte~~). There are details on the Access UH page.
Also, Vectorworks is an AutoCad alternative. You have to submit a picture of your ID.
EDIT: CougarByte no longer allowed to sell Office to students apparently.
This.
Had my vehicle totaled last year on my way to class, luckily they had insurance and the insurance company cut the check, but last month a vehicle ran a right light, swerved, and clipped my back tail-light and damaging that section.
Invested in a dash cam for peace of comfort because these drivers be cray. Got this from amazon https://www.amazon.com/Spy-Tec-A119-1440p-Camera/dp/B01HMZVYLY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1486742400&sr=8-3&keywords=Spy+tec+dash+cam
Make friends with your favorite profs. You want a good recommendation, not a bad one! If they're relatively high up in the department, even better. And keep a list of achievements and stuff you've done for them. Tell them what in-major classes you've taken, with grades if you can. Let them know if you've been President of Grass Examining Club or Director of Campus Cat Feeding. Any positions in organizations you've held, any research opportunities you've had, any opportunities you've had to present in front of an audience (ESPECIALLY if you want to go into academia!), awards you've won, etc.
Dr. Zarnow is a ton of work, but her classes are so jam-packed with information and experience that you'll be glad you've taken her classes. I took her capstone and she's offering it again this spring -- take it!
Get Zotero for research. It's free. /u/herropreese27 can attest to its amazingness. It has plugins for Chrome and Firefox and can import directly into Word.
Change majors if you hate your current major.
Most importantly, TAKE CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH. Do so off-campus if you can afford it and your insurance covers it, because the on-campus mental health services are kinda overloaded, but your mental health is the absolute most important thing to take care of. If your mental health is bad you won't be doing your best in school. You are more important than getting your diploma in four years. You can't finish your degree if you're dead.
Codecademy and Codeschool are great ways to get started with programming. But I could see animation or graphical design coming in handy with projects. Obviously, we don't desire to limit this organization to just strict computer programming. Graphics, animation and knowledge of different industries can all play crucial roles in development. I'll keep you posted for sure. http://www.codecademy.com/ https://www.codeschool.com/

I took Intro to Ethics by Edwin Aiman and it went better than I expected despite me not opening the book. All you need to do is attend, take notes and pay attention and you'll be getting good grade really.

Only con was that it's on Saturday so Idk if you're willing to attend during weekend. I didn't mind it since I live on campus/near campus.

Her name just changed. http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=2271779&showMyProfs=true This the woman you are take if you take her. She earned ever bit of that 1.5 too.
I tried to take the online version of this in the fall last year and the amount of extra crap she wants is just not worth a core class.
Make sure you log in to AccessUH, then see if the form at this link works for you.
If it does not, go back into AccessUH and log into Office 365 with your Cougarnet address ([email protected]), then try the form again.
Saw this via Facebook yesterday. I'm sure he did some great work, and I'm sorry for his family. He seemed healthy enough around campus in the spring.
That's as positive as I can be. His ratemyprofessor page tells the story as I knew it, but it's good to read stories to the contrary.

I don't recommend the hexagonal notes, like others said just print her notes for lecture.
However if you like having neat notes like I do, I bought this stencil from Amazon: r/https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Chemistry-Stencil-Drawing-Template/dp/B00MNKC0EE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1534356949&sr=8-3&keywords=organic+chemistry+stencil
It's pretty pricey but it's very good quality & neat freak approved (by me) so it was worth every penny, imo

Cracking the GRE Mathematics is what I studied. I took it with Almus and she had a great amount of resources, including past lectures, on her website. She's the one who recommended the book to us.
Yes, the Parking and Transportation Services customer service location in University Lofts is open. Because of COVID-19, you will need to make an appointment online first. Here is the link to make that appointment.
The COAST (Coogs on Alternative and Sustainable Transportation) program is located in the same location. To make an appointment to meet with the COAST team, click here.
sounds like a possible missed connection, OP :-(

it’s really hard to meet people right now so i totally understand where you’re coming from. have a little patience in waiting for that true love and join communities where you can meet people with similar interests (online or where you can meet outdoors) if possible :-)) best of luck!!
It's one of the requirements for my major, so I have to. haha. cries
What worries me to no end is that the other two have only one review, but with good ratings. Karonika is either made out to be a reasonable guy, or a complete nightmare. https://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=2244311 http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=2051048

This was about .5-1.5 years ago. I'm not sure now.
Yea he was bad but we spoke with the head of the department and he seemed a bit better. I would probably rate him a 3/4. If you asked questions and did your homework it was ok. Plus formula sheets.
If you can't get into Haaga's class, which I've never taken but fellow redditors seem to recommend...I'd go with Joshua Weisberg. He'll go on random stories and make the class fun, but yeah with Logic1 you can't fall behind because the material builds upon previous chapters.
Btw: TIL that the Philosophy department has some pretty interesting faculty from a guy with dyed dreadlocks to a lecturer who's said to dye her hair different colors throughout the semester.
I use Todoist. It's a pretty simple, intuitive 'to-do' style app., and they have a student discount for their premium features (which I'd recommend). They've got apps for Android and iOS, and you can use it via their website. Personally, I don't think using a calendar is very useful for tracking assignments as it can get really cluttered and annoying.
Thanks for the in-dept reply. I read the about the unemployment rate on this link. http://www.workopolis.com/content/advice/article/was-studying-worth-it-the-university-degrees-with-the-highest-and-lowest-unemployment-rates/ It shows MIS majors have a 15% unemployment rate which is really hard to believe. What exactly is RED Labs? I like MIS as a whole but which area is the most lucrative?
Learning Abroad actually has a fair scheduled for Thursday where they can answer all your questions :) RSVP
Thank you RedNaradza, I appreciate your kind words and enthusiasm. Yes, top 5 does sound very naive, lol. I don't use much books, I use courses on Art of Problem Solving, MIT Opencourseware, and Brilliant.org. In my opinion, these are a lot more organized then books. However when I do use books I primarily use:
- Pual Zeitz, Arts and Crafts of Problem Solving
- Razvan Gelca and Titu Andreescu, Putnam and Beyond

The first day is to figure out which books and resource materials to use, how to read/practice it.
Please feel free to recruit anyone you know that would be interested. And regardless if you can commit to the teachings or not, I would be happy to have you aboard. In fact, someone else already DM'd me as well.
First meeting is probably this Friday.
Many thanks,
StochasticHydraulics
My advice is that you start practicing coding early. Python is a great choice because it's pretty easy to learn and doesn't involve a lot of the technical details that a language like C, C++ or Java might.
Check out HackerRank. There are problems in various categories you can solve, as well as sections specific to particular languages (they have a Python section).
Start assignments early and go to office hours when you get stuck. Also, you don't only need to go to the specific office hours for your course; you can stop by PGH 313 and see if any of the TAs there are willing to help. Worst that can happen is they say no.
>Like how do CS people usually study?
You study the same way that math people study: do lots of practice. That's really the only way to get good at programming or math. CS degrees are a lot of math and theoretical concepts but practicing and creating projects are what develop the applicable skills that you would use as a developer.
It also helps to know what kind of programming you want to do. You learn basic programming in the class you're going to take but it's only going to give you a taste of it. You'll have to find out what you're wanting to get out of your education elsewhere. Personally, I like math and statistical programming so that's why I'm trying to go into data science. You might like something else.
My suggestion is to go download Anaconda which is a data science software platform for Python that allows you to download IDEs (integrated development environment). Download either Spyder IDE (What I prefer) or VS Code. You could also use Jupyter Notebooks. You're going to be starting with Python in COSC 1336 but it helps to have a good platform that you could practice on outside of Moodle.

> Did she make the exams herself
I would think so, during the exams, she had typos in the problems. She announced this during the exams. The questions did look like problems out of a textbook though. So I wouldn't worry about any obscure questions thrown in the exam.
>Are the homework questions out of the textbook.
Yes. Also worth noting, the textbook she uses is very terrible. It has a really, really low rating on amazon. If you do end up taking her class, it's not worth buying. A LOT of the students had PDF forms of the textbook. If you want a textbook to learn statistics, seek elsewhere because the textbook itself has a lot of errors in it and badly composed.
>Was the class heavily curved
According to some students, they had to pressure her into curving. Not sure as of yet, though. She's still grading.
>Are the exams free response
The first 2 exams did not have free response questions. The final did, 3-4 questions. Some of the Free response questions had like 1-4 parts.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Here's the amazon link to the textbook she uses: https://www.amazon.com/Applied-Statistics-Probability-Engineers-Montgomery/dp/1118539710
Most of the comments here say that the book is not worth getting. I haven't taken the class yet (just a first-year), so I got it.
It's $15 to rent on Amazon. Here's the link
Yeah I couldn't find it either now I guess it's the bookstore for me lol. I also need another one here's the amazon link for it https://www.amazon.com/Introduction-Biotechnology-3rd-William-Thieman/dp/0321766113

Do you have the textbook for that class? They recently updated the curriculum, and the textbook they chose is very good and is ubiquitous in embedded systems education. If you read the first few chapters of that book it will clear up a lot of terms and concepts that are preventing you from learning about embedded systems effectively. Also try this website.
The first microprocessors course is hard, but once you get past all of the technical terminology used in firmware/embedded software engineering, it gets a lot easier.
I already have the book but a searchable PDF version will make the final less ridiculous. He makes his tests retarded.
