Get the book Victory Over Vestibular Migraine. Everything you need to know is in that book. Topomax and propranolol are both very effective to many people. They can take months to work. There are several other medications to try. Amitriptyline is one that many find effective. Tell your doctor you want to try something else.
As suggested by someone else, diet and supplements help many. Try those.
I have been using this neck gadget and I swear it has nearly eliminated all of my neck pain. Specifically this one. I tried several others that were slightly different and this one worked the best. https://www.amazon.com/Shoulder-Cervical-Traction-Alignment-Chiropractic/dp/B082XYR2P2?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
Out of the blue I started having horrible neck pain. I bought this neck traction thingy and have used it for only a few days and its like a miracle. I bought 3 different ones and this is the winner for sure.
Maybe it's related to pressure changes. In that case, there are earplugs meant for helping with this during air travel. I used them in my pre-diagnosis past during flights, because I found the pressure changes very noticeable and uncomfortable. Now I know that I have Meneire's & VM, and prob had mild symptoms for decades before diagnosis. I haven't flown since diagnosis, but the next time I fly, I'm for sure using something like this again.

I didn't follow the diet very well, so I can't speak to if it works or not. I'm taking a shot at the diet again, but its not easy.
The book also explains why your doctor is giving you those meds. According to that book its all tied together. The book will explain how the migraine meds might help with the dizziness. Although the book doesnt generally recommend that as a first treatment.
I didn't even get headaches at all, just constant dizziness and vertigo attacks. But migraines was my doctors explanation to me.
I was having full vertigo attacks every other day for 30+ days when I started taking the supplements. The attacks died down after a few weeks, which is why I kind of didn't go all in on the diet.
I'm trying the diet again with the hope it may stamp out the constant dizziness. I found a cookbook based on the diet so I'm hoping I'll do better this time.
Vestibular physio is recommended. Also I read a book about vestibular migraines and the suggested supplements are magnesium, b12, vitamin d and there’s one more im forgetting. Keep perusing this subreddit, and looking at resources, lots of trial and error.
The hard thing about migraines in general is that it’s such a catch all. Two different migraineurs could have vastly different triggers and therefore require different treatment. In some cases vestibular therapy can help identify those triggers and give you a little more control over your symptoms.
Vestibular therapy is all about finding the sweet spot. The brain can’t fix what it can’t see. If you show your brain a small problem it can make a small adjustment whereas overwhelming the system can sometimes cause a vestibular migraine episode. Unfortunately, dosage is so case dependent that it usually starts with trial and error.
One of my local doctors recommends this book to people that have just been diagnosed.
