Another 'interview' just went up, this time about Warhammer and unlike the others, it's not with a developer. It's with one of the marketing people, which doesn't surprise me because WH is a marketing-led project. I also get a feeling that an actual developer that worked on the game itself wouldn't have much to say about it.
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-sale-summer-2021/
They wrote story blurbs for in-game events, which might be the only justification for considering them a 'developer'.
It's tiresome to read, but I tried re-reading it over again, but they make it clear they have no interest in talking about the game, only the volume of stuff in it.
Im always a fan of hex based tactics games like battle for wesnoth
RPG's have there fun place, western RPG's tended to always be more tactical with games like fallout tactics and KOTOR 1/2 etc.
Games where unit placement etc matters
Just picked up battle brothers in the steam sales, been crushed every game XD.
Then you have the pardox like games for the larger scale games.
I also made a review on Amazon, and it's the first one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08VYC9XPC/ref=pe_1572281_66412651_cm_rv_eml_rv0_dp?th=1
Others have mentioned the unethical, unofficial policy of low-standards and passive-aggression which signals that some people are fair-game and pushing back against the hype/misinformation-based marketing is unacceptable.
There are two main ways of interpreting the fact that currently the LIMITED EDITION boxed copy of WH3 is a massive 28% discount on Amazon.co.uk as of the timing of this post.
This is not the Collectors Edition box; they cancelled that for 'reasons' and anyone who wanted to collect the CE for the trilogy is left with a microcosm of the TW series as a whole: incompleteness, cut features, decreasing standards, non-credible non-explanations for why.
Brand-ambassadors have been responding to critics of the price with 'well get it cheaper on Green Man Gaming', even as they celebrate it's position on the Top Sales chart on Steam(which is only counting the £49.99 Steam store pre-purchases); they see no conflict. Nor do the Youtubers nudging viewers to buy through affiliate links, many with no discounts or much smaller ones.
That Warhammer apologist citing bracing being automatic is apparently unaware that CA is actually in the process of revamping bracing and making it actually do something, because it's done basically nothing for years.
It's in the Cavalry Beta:
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/warhammer-2-patch-1-12-1-cavalry-fix/
>Bracing: when infantry is standing still and facing the enemy, they will get a bracing multiplier to their mass. A braced entity can have significantly improved mass, reducing the collision power and damage considerably.
>
>Bracing multipliers have been increased to further improve the power of bracing against collision damage. The goal is to increase the difference between bracing and counter-charging in terms of how much collision damage is dealt.
>
>- Braced units now get their max bracing bonus at 8 ranks deep (was 6 previously)
- Max bracing multiplier for mass from ranks was changed from 3.5 to 4.
- Charge Defenders have had their bracing multiplier increased from 1.75 to 2.
Basically, once players started putting up a stink over how infantry charging into cavalry was causing the cavalry unit to just melt on the spot, they looked and finally, after years, realized that adding the magical Charge Bonus number to the collision damage is retarded.
So now they're reimplementing charging and bracing to be based on relative mass, and making bracing actually do something by causing it to increase the infantry unit's mass.
So for years, the bracing in Total Warhammer has done absolutely nothing.
Just got an update.
Its not to my specific inquiry, its a general post on C.A.'s Discord, and, will probably be common knowledge soon.
