If your microwave won't pop popcorn, then I'd spend the money on a new microwave instead of a popcorn machine.
Recipe:
Stir, microwave for 45 seconds.

Making desserts out of non dessert foods has been a long tradition in the Hungarian side of my family. Growing up I loved Semolina Porridge with Strawberry Jam and lots of sugar or Pasta with lots of Chocolate Sauce.
This is the volume eating version of that. It was yummy!!
Haha I actually got it from an International Market near my house, but here’s a link to something super similar on Amazon! Hope this helps :) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08J27PP3H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_D3VGCZSPQ0GSG3X1834K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
a mandolin might work too
Right now I'm using Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard (Vanilla). I'm liking it so far and it came up highly recommended on all the searches I did regarding whey protein powder.
I got it from an International Market near my house (kid’s utensils/chopstick section), but here’s a link to something super similar on Amazon! Hope this helps :) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08J27PP3H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_D3VGCZSPQ0GSG3X1834K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It’s a Nicewell food scale. I got it from Amazon. It ‘s worked pretty good for me so far and I’ve had it for almost a full year. Here’s the link to it.
A spiralizer like this could help you. Plus I find that cutting boring foods like apples into unique shapes makes me enjoy them more.
Melts at 160°. Solid at room temperature.
I’ve been looking for something with these properties to try at making volume granola bars or protein bars, to help keep them solid at room temperature (or even fridge temperature) without adding the usual things people might add for this purpose like Dates or Coconut oil or Butter / Fats in general.
I promise it’s not Soap, the label is just cut off, this is the full product name:
“Yellow Food Grade Pure Natural Beeswax, 50g Free Fatty Acid Beeswax Top Quality Materials for Cosmetics Soap Candles Making”
YesI buy that one, it’s really good for thickening oatmeal or instant grits. Or anything really!
This one:

Salted Caramel is my favorite and holds up the best in few ingredient recipes.
Vanilla & hazelnut work best in baking in my opinion.
I really like the Sweetwell cookies! They are pricey, but the best low-cal sugar free cookies I've found so far. Worth it, IMHO. Their chocolate covered nuts are pretty tasty, too! I like the milk chocolate covered peanuts. YUM!
This was a very happy accident, and it turned out tasty, filling, and stupidly healthy. I hate vegetables, and was trying to make a "green smoothie" as a way to get 'em in. I blended all the ingredients below and it came out as thick as pudding, and it was surprisingly tasty. I happily ate the whole bowl with a spoon, and afterward I was stuffed. Thanks to the casein, this was thicker than many recipes I've made with Xanthan gum, and without the "gelatinous" texture. You don't need all the listed ingredients to make this; feel free to just throw in whatever veggies you have on hand and give it a whirl. I'm sure it would work great with other veggies, or berries etc. The casein is key to the texture though. I think casein is a pretty under-utilized ingredient in general for volume eating. It's like whey but with a lot of thickening power.

I have an intolerance for oat fiber and all the other homemade brownies I've seen on this sub haven't turned out great for me (because I'm a horrible baker lol). This recipe makes a WHOLE 8x8 pan of brownies that are moist, cakey, dense, and super duper delicious.

Don't know where you are, but I see it in my supermarkets, maybe order off amazon?

I don't know any Asian-specific online retailers but Amazon has some for sure. I just ordered this box. Price is about what I usually get ($8 for 16ish) at the store near me. If someone has a better online retailer option, I'd love to know! Asian snacks are wildly good. My favorite is the seaweed tempura. 😍
Edit: I should say that I haven't used any online Asian food retailers. I pass by one for work occasionally and stop in when I can. I don't know if they're open now but I should take a trip there to see and stock up!
Quick Style Pho
- Cut up cooked chicken breast (I cook a batch in the crockpot - available all week, not dry)
- Slice up your veggies (I like green onion, peppers, cilantro, basil, and bean sprouts)
- Sub a bundle of vermicelli bean glass noodles for your rice (I like these)
- A teaspoon or less of this instant pho powder
- A bit of chilis and a squeeze of lime to your taste
Pop the chicken and bean noodles in all in a bowl with water and any veg you want warmed up. Make sure the bean noodles are below water. Microwave for 3 mins. Stir in the pho powder. Top with all the fresh veg and chilis.
I love this for lunch because its easy to pack and take to work, cheap, and satisfying.

I got this one about a month ago. It’s perfect for one person. A few little quirks I had to get used to, but I love it and use it multiple times per week. Very recommend, totally worth the investment.
Outstanding amount of information.
Tbh, I think I can afford to prune off a few steps of my process even if it means I get a little bit of clumping on the sides. I definitely have been noticing some more ice crystals when batching out the ice, so I think I will go back to just putting it all in in one go and going ham with the tamper. I am hesitant to drop big $$$ on gellan gum, but I do own a lot of konjac gum. I suspected it would have a similarly snotty mouthfeel as xanthan, but possibly with a better ratio of gums to liquid/ice it could be tolerable.
Also I found it amusing that my own personal set of low-cal cereal toppings almost exactly matched yours. Only difference was I include these
Try using beano (or a knock off like this). In my personal experience, taking more than the recommended 1-2 tablets usually works better. Typically I will take 2-3 tablets before i eat, then also crumble 2-3 tablets into the food itself once it has cooled down a bit.
Also available are more generalized digestive enzymes. I've never tried them personally though, so ymmv
do you think if i used this instead of the salted caramel one, it would still be good? i'm a sucker for chocolate orange flavoured stuff and the idea of low cal chocolate orange brownies sounds so good to me

It's essentially rice made from heart of palms. Their pasta is somewhat popular and I find the rice to taste even better than the pasta (and better than cauliflower rice)! The calories are so crazy low -- 60 calories for 14 ounces. It's a bit on the expensive side though on Amazon:

Thank you for this. I’ve been looking for things my wife would eat too (she’s a picky vegetarian) and I think this might fit the bill.

If I had to recommend one product to you that would help it is this:
https://www.amazon.com/Better-Than-Bouillon-Chicken-Base/dp/B07YN74MJW
It's a bouillon that taste just like chicken but is made from veggies.
You can use it in soups and sauces and lots of other things. A lot of vegans swear by it.
I have this one from GoWise USA and I love it! It heats up in about 1 or 2 mins, so you can get cooking really quickly. I've done crispy fried chicken, roasted meats, crispy brussel sprouts, home-made fries, and definitely a lot more. It's great for heating up frozen foods like pizza rolls and bagel bites, and I also use it to heat these frozen scallion pancakes I get from H Mart. I am not really into items that seem fad-like, but I think the air fryer is here to stay, since it's super versatile.
I tried the diet coke cake mix before and found it rather delicious -- but when using normal cake mix, the calories were still relatively high and as I have no self control, I would eat the whole pan. I then found some of the low-carb brownie mixes which had absurdly low calories for the brownie mix (1 box is 160 calories) but tasted a bit too buttery/oily when prepared with the instructions and come in at almost 1k calories.
So putting two and two together, what if I use the low-carb brownie mix with 3/4 can of diet coke to get a ~6x8 160 calorie pan of brownies! Unfortunately the brownies didn't even start to set after about 30 minutes in the oven.
I remember seeing a banana brownie mix on this subreddit so I had some bananas on hand. I smushed and added two bananas inside and baked it for another 25 minutes and it started to set!
I lost patience so I removed the brownies and put them in the fridge then freezer for 30 minutes each. The pudding tasted really good -- very fudgey with a hint of banana taste. If anyone has eaten magnolia's chocolate pudding, I would say it reminded me very much of that taste.
Tl;DR: Low-carb brownie mix + diet coke = water (160 calories for the pan). Added two bananas (200 cal) for a delicious chocolate banana pudding for 360 calories.

I will try this recipe next time:
Mix 1 package of low-carb brownie mix (160 calories), 3/4 can diet coke (0 calories), 2 smushed bananas (200 calories).
Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes
Cool for 2 hours
First this looks awesome! Second, do you have a mandoline? Shaved is the primary way I do brussels sprouts (though I have given up on advocating for it since the "roasted is the only way" meme is so strong) and I find it pretty straightforward on a simple Benriner mandoline like this: https://www.amazon.com/Benriner-Mandoline-Slicer-Japanese-Stainless/dp/B01CZXJJBU
Hey! They’re definitely there (and TJ and WF usually have much better selections than my local grocer) - they’re just hiding in a weird spot, most likely. You can usually find them tucked away in a fridge in the produce section - try by the salads, dressings, pre-cut fruit or veggies, etc.
here are the varieties stocked by WF - also search shirataki noodle and konjac noodle for more results. :)
Edit/ just seeing what comment you replied to - did you mean the rice?? i bought them on amazon
Amazon has them, not super cheap of course.. but you can possibly get them there. These are mini! 👇🏼

If you’re in the US they sell it at Jewel, Meijer, and Walmart. Also Amazon.
>Long ago I looked at most of the non-wheat pastas (chickpea, etc. like Lensi, Banza, etc.) but they all had the same or more calories
I went through the exact same thing. No caloric benefit sadly. You can find fiber gourmet on amazon too (assuming you're in the US). Good luck!
I just add it to the dish. I buy the individual 4oz cottage cheese cups and prefer to freeze them first. It gives it a more dry, crumbly texture kind of like a feta, but it'll still get melty and creamy when you cook it but with less liquid. Otherwise, just add it to the pot/pan/whatever while the food is cooking.
For rice or grits or couscous, I'd wait 'til all of the water is absorbed and then add the cottage cheese and let it stay on the heat a bit longer. For pasta, I'd add it after the water is drained, and same deal. Put it back on the heat for a bit for the cottage cheese to heat up and mix in.
I steamed shredded potatoes and shredded cabbage the other night and mixed the cottage cheese in at the start and just let it all cook and then mixed it together when it was done.
Honestly, I do most of my cooking in a Hot Logic so I just throw all of the ingredients into a meal prep container and let the Hot Logic do its thing.
For cookies, meringues. I buy them already made, but can be DIY'd.
For desserts in general, the old standby of high protein, low calorie yogurt with sugar free pudding mix.
Also, Drizzlicious mini rice cakes.
This is the set that I bought because it had variety. I regularly use both heights of the trivets, the solid bottomed container, and the silicone lid. I haven't really used the container with the removable bottom or the 3 section divider thing. There are a bunch of different kinds of inserts online. Some come with two or three containers you can latch together to make them easier to remove, which sound better for making Indian food where you could do one with rice, one with a curry, and one with a lentil or chickpea recipe.

This is the brand I get, I use a serving a day and it lasts me awhile
Pre-packaged is trickier. You didn't specify that in your OP. Pre-packaged snacks that are high protein are often low carb and may be high fat. Snacks that are high in carbs are often low protein and may be high in fat. Looking in my snack box at work, I have:
Dried chick peas: 168 calories, 8g protein, 25g carbs and 4g fat for 1.4 oz.
Dry roasted edamame: 200 calories, 20g protein, 13g carbs, 8g fat for 1.6 oz.
Whisps cheese crisps: 100 calories, 9g protein, 1g carbs, 7g fat for
0.63 oz.
Wasa cracker (carbs) and cookie butter protein spread (protein & carbs) but no fat. That might be a possible option.
Carrot cup and fruit cups are all carbs, no protein.
Protein bars? Nope. The ones I have are pretty high in fat.
I like fat. It's good for long term satiety. Good luck to you. I'm sure there are options out there that will meet your macro goals.
Yes put a bowl of water next to it in the microwave
Also I microwave it this container so your cook time might be different depending on the shape of your container
My go-to lately has been:
Walmart Chocolate Whey Protein which is 30g protein/190 calories per scoop
2tbsp powdered peanut butter for another 4g protein/50 calories
2tbsp Lakanto Monkfruit Golden sweetener for 0 calories
and about 1/8 tsp of xanthan gum.
Water to about a cm under the fill line or.... just slightly over a cup of Milkadamia Unsweetened for another 60 calories or so.
I prefer the light texture over Halo Top but it's hard to quantify good texture
My two favorite low cal tortillas are ole xtreme wellness wraps which are 50 cals for a full size tortilla and la banderita carb counter snack size tortillas which are 35 cals
sukrin (the brown sugar variety) has me intrigued. it's a Erythritol and Stevia blend so probably not something that would work for you but i might try it given that my protein powder is a blend of these. the reviews on amazon are excellent on the taste and performance. i like the idea of having something for both baking and general use where i don't have to double the amount for the level of sweetness.
Total lifesaver
actually did some more searching and apparently this one is better :) You have way more choice in the US than I have in Thailand!

Should even make your own. Relatively cheap and easy to make if you follow the proper procedures. I bought this kit by Masontops and honestly its not necessary but the concept still applies with or without their fancy glass puck. Takes ~4-5 weeks but I have had like 3-4 jars worth with 1-2 heads of cabbage.
TVP is my beloved staple for this!
I don't own a food processor. Maybe I need one? I have a hand held GEFU spiralizer. It's an older version of this one.
They are usually smaller "fajita sized" tortillas - maybe 15cm instead of 30. These are 70 calories on Amazon, different brand but similar idea

If your toaster oven has an "air fry," "air roast," or "convection" option, or something else running a fan inside, then yes! I use my convection toaster oven with the basket to make several servings of fries at once, and they come out amazing.

They compared it to other 'plant-based pasta brands' by promoting their 3.5 oz protein portion, yet the macros are pretty similar. You can see the macros here . Ignore the price on Amazon. One box is 2.85 at my Aldi.
I don't taste a difference really. But I can't tell sugar free substitutes from real sugar so I am not a good reference. I definitely like it more than lentil pasta or shirataki and have found that it keeps me too full, to where I do not want to eat later in the day.

I just recently found out about this as well! the cocoa powder I currently use is 366 cal/ 100gr, but I recently found this one which is around 241 calories/ 100gr!
so, why does the calorie count vary so much? well, the amount of cocoa butter, sugar, and other additives all add up.. so ideally, an unsweetened, NON-fat cocoa powder is best. they’re not easy to find, but it exists lol.
Once I run out of the cocoa powder I currently have I’ll definitely buy the Van Houten one.. even though it’s bloody expensive 😭
This is the one i bought but there are plenty of others too if you have different preferences. I thought cleaning the straw would be hard and get moldy easily but it comes with a brush and the straw part also detatches if you need to soak it. If you look up "water bottles with measurments" you will find a ton.

I've only ever had the Gold Mine brand. They're extremely thin and as long as I softened them enough they just seemed like thin rice noodles to me. I didn't have any issues with bloating, but I never did with shiritaki noodles either
I really like these: Skinny Pasta
Their whole shtick is that they are odorless. I personally think the texture is slightly better as well. Pair these with your favorite sauce, veggies, and a protein and you're good to go!
I’ve found this one has been great for crushing ice & smoothies. Might work if you add xanthum gum as well.
Hamilton Beach Shakes and Smoothies with BPA-Free Personal Blender, 14 oz, Red https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0017XHSC2/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_Q8VRT4SSE9GGM76NF4MZ
Well, I bought them on Amazon. You probably need to check what's available where you live. I bought both ingredients in a package for 23 € for 100 g calciumhydroxid and 500 g glucomannan... makes about 40 portions of shirataki (200-250 g per portion). I can buy shirataki for around 2 € in an asian supermarket therefore making them myself makes A LOT of sense!
You add 0,3 g of calciumhydroxid in 240 g of water, mix it, than add 12 g of glucomannan (konjac powder) and mix for about 30 sec. (works best if you run the powder through a tea strainer). You end up with a pretty jelly like but rather stiff consistency. Than you have to cook in water for about 10-15 min. I press the gel through a spätzle press but you can use a simple potato ricer or basically anything. Make sure to rinse the noodles afterwards and store it in water.
Heart attack survivor here. Cholesterol levels can be helped by diet, but the biggest threat is genetics. Medication, exercise, cutting down sugar, and a very high fiber diet will do the most good. Cholesterol binds to the fiber and gets flushed. This book is an excellent source:
Cholesterol Down: Ten Simple Steps to Lower Your Cholesterol in Four Weeks--Without Prescription Drugs https://www.amazon.com/dp/0307339114/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_8SWY7MQQVH9FRKFEM16S
At least 150 minutes of pulse elevating exercise per week was the last goal I saw. Also, a jolt of adrenaline without an immediate burn off (road rage, etc) causes the liver to put cholesterol into the bloodstream. Stress kills. Literally.
I can see why they recommend not using a blender--it does seem like it would be gritty if the blender chopped up the kiwi seeds. I've thought about using something like this ice cream plate. I've also made ice cream in a plastic Folger's can--you put ice and kosher salt in the can, then the ice cream mixture in a couple heavy ziploks and roll it back and forth until it freezes up a bit. That would probably work with this.
Another good recipe might be mango with plain yogurt, and maybe a little honey if it needs it. Like a mango lassie at an Indian restaurant, but instead of blending it (maybe with ice), you'd freeze it. I'll bet other fruit smoothie recipes would work as ice cream too. I might just have to try this myself soon to see.

Each bowl is 3 Tbsp of kernels(110calories). Two different types of kernels btw. This popper has been a game changer for me, I was making popcorn on the stove with no oil and it never was fluffy, came out half burned and just bleh. Did some research and came across this. This isn’t the finest engineered popcorn popper, but it is decent for the price. Careful the popcorn flies out like no other. And you need to physically pull the chord to get it to stop. It also gets quite hot, so don’t touch it…anyways, if all that hasn’t scared you off, here’s the link to purchase it: Presto Poplite hot air Popper, 1 Size, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006IUWA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_8HVDMVBJM9B5NZZ7HYZP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I second the lemon juice. If you find it hard to keep fresh citrus on hand, or too expensive, get a shaker of True lemon or True lime - or both. Acid balance makes a huge difference for flavor.
Tagine is another flavor booster. There are fat-free salad dressings you can consider.
All of that said, fat is a nutrient that your body requires. You need some fat in your diet.

Pancake syrup is good. But if you're willing to buy a specialty ingredient, a fiber syrup is even better at replicating the mouthfeel of real pb. Plus they are slightly less sweet which gives you more control over the sweetness.

Is it this one? The nutrition label says 130 cals per serving and one bag has 2.5 servings, which comes out to 325 cals, no?
I got this for Christmas and I love it. It churns the frozen fruit in such a way that you get really nice sorbet texture with only frozen fruit.
I have an electric hot air popper that I've had for over 25 years. It still works great. I love my popcorn with absolutely nothing on it just air popped. But it has a little lid in the top that you can melt butter in while the popcorn is popping if you wish to have butter in it.

It’s 20 cal per tablespoon and is a great sub for taco salads for me.
Also, if you’re into queso as a topping, you can use a 35 gram ‘slice’ of velveeta for 75 cal and then add salsa and water to it for a significant portion of queso dip. I feel like velveeta has gotten thicker the last few years so I was adding water already. Now I just add more. Feeds my need for cheese flavor on things.
Also, sometimes I just make a turkey/apple/bacon bit ‘hash’ in the nonstick Pan, and then I can add less than 100 cal of cheese and it works for me to ‘taste’ it without needing it in full.
Good luck! Cheese it my favorite food. It both is awesome and it sucks.
I use truffle parmesan and black garlic seasoning by Epicurean Specialty. It is 10 calories per serving and provides a great cheese taste. It is in my local Costco. It's available directly from them or Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Epicurean-Specialty-Truffle-Seasoning-Parmesan/dp/B08TGNSMDM

That's probably the post you saw it on. Linked to the guy's explanation when I asked him about it. I couldn't find it on Amazon but I found this
I'm planning to give that one a try after the holidays. Figure shit sucks hard enough for postage/Amazon workers as is and am not ordering it until well after the holidays.

If you want to get slightly more esoteric, you can mix I+G into your msg at a 1:3 ratio of I+G to MSG in order to get an even more intense umami effect. Might seem expensive, but if you get the 350g tub it is good for 1050g of msg (1400g total) which is not much per serving.
It’s a julienne peeler! It’s a total game changer and not as dangerous to fingertips as a larger julienne slicer. One of the simplest ways to include chia seeds in your diet is to add them to water. To make chia water, soak 2 tbl spoon of chia seeds in 4 cups (1 liter) of water for 20–30 minutes. To give your drink some flavor, you can add chopped fruit or squeeze in a lemon, lime, or orange.
>I prefer Green Herbo Raw Chia Seeds for this, as the provide good quality edible seeds.
I bought this one. I had a hand crank, but freezing the bowl takes so much time and pre-planning. This one plugs in and goes! It doesn't make super hard ice cream, but I prefer it soft - and you can freeze it for a firmer feeling, too. Ice cream maker

On Amazon here I like it, it's nifty looking in our mid-century kitchen, and it's pretty inexpensive. It's a little loud, but nothing I can't deal with for an hour. I think the bad reviews are user-error and expecting package quality. You're not dealing with the same stabilizers though, so it will taste a tiny bit icier. still delicious!
This brownie mix is super low calorie by itself so if you just used some egg whites & diet soda you could probably keep the cals per batch super low

I've never made my overnight oats that way :o the protein powder sounds interesting! Does it give your oats a weird texture? Or is that why you cook them first so the powder dissolves?
I bought these 100 calorie cinnamon oats from my local grocer. I use a packet of that, a half of serving of brown sugar and honey (I believe a serving of brown sugar is 2 teaspoons so halfed is 15 calories and a serving of the honey I use is 1 tablespoon so halfed is 31 calories) with a cup of regular almond milk and I let that sit in my fridge all night. When I wake up I top it with half of a sliced banana. It's 240 calories and it tastes illegal lol I've made it every night for my mornings since I've discovered it and it very filling! when I want some protein that morning I'll do two pieces of turkey bacon which is 30 calories a piece on the side making it a 300 cal breakfast, which is still pretty nice to me :3
Also not too much of a help on your second request but I've recently got into konjac replacing some of my heavily enjoyed carbs, specifically I've bought this lot many times. Paired with smarter sauce choices ( I've made Alfredo with a vegan cauliflower sauce that was delicious) it's helped me a stick to my CICO and volume eating journey :3
