I have noticed that the algae grows on things and considered if a lattice would promote growth. I was planning on just pouring half a jar off, sealing it and setting it somewhere dark to die off, then siphon the water off. A fresnel lens on a sealed container would be a good way to dry/char the remaining organics, but i wonder if there is more loss back to the atmosphere.
My logic was that aside from the primary jar at the moment which i have placed plant matter into, any organic material i have "captured" must be some part carbon by weight, and most of that will have to be atmospheric carbon. I also know that water captures atmospheric carbon (At room temperature, the solubility of carbon dioxide is about 90 cm3 of CO2 per 100 ml water (cl/cg = 0.8)[Google]. This is why i think it is important to have something disturbing the water, which in my setup is either the addition of water to replace the evaporated water, or the daily stirring.
Edit: this got me thinking, and putting 1 of these solar motors stirring each jar might not be a bad idea...
