~~yesterday was day 318~~
I ran the SF marathon on Sunday, with over 1000 feet elevation gain.... my time was 3:41:22. here's the strava activity: https://www.strava.com/activities/659965983
~~Everything hurts. I just woke up this morning. I am now preparing running the hardest 10k today~~
I just ran 10.1km this morning. It hurt so much, I wanted to cry...
Yesterday was 144 (I'll be looking for the 150+ flair next week :-P)
Had a 5k race yesterday that got me pretty excited to get some miles in again. I had been feeling out of it since my 100 week, but now I could probably get back to 40+ (but I won't because I hate the cold).
Back to the race - I was so close to a mile and 5k PR (but I missed both by 3 seconds) - I'm gonna blame the hill right at the end of mile 1 that I had to walk up a bit of. No shame in walking, but it does show me that I am still improving overall even though I may not be noticing it. I was REALLY close to a PR while having something like an annoying hill in my way? That sounds like speed to me. Link: https://www.strava.com/activities/767832641/overview
Anyway - probably gonna take it easy, legs are a bit sore from going all out yesterday. Work drama doesn't help.
Day 213.
I ran the Springbok Vasbyt 25km race on Saturday. "Vasbyt" means "hang in there" in Afrikaans. It was harder than I thought it was going to be - the race is about 25% on tarred roads and the rest on trails and I did all my training on the road, so I knew it was going to be challenging, but it still surprised me. I did enjoy the race and I definitely want to try and do some more off-road running in future. At the moment my legs are still quite stiff, but besides for the stiffness, everything feels like it is still working the way it should. Now I must just decide what race to train for next.
Also late due to the holiday (and birthday!) yesterday. It was day 38, in which I did an appropriately shaped birthday run. Unfortunately I didn't time this streak to be day 41 on birthday 41, but I did do 4.1 miles, which is close enough?
Thanks! Hoping it goes better than my last attempt, which involved hitting the wall hard in the Columbus Marathon last October.
For Strava, this is my account! I'm also part of the r/amileaday group! Full disclosure: the weekly mileage I put in my original post includes warmups and cooldowns from each run, I just don't include those on Strava because then I'd have three entries for every workout.
It's called 'Elite Running Log'
The creator/partner of the app creator posted it to /r/running about 18 months ago or so. I tried it out and loved how basic it was.

Garmin doesn't always load properly, so Strava doesn't reflect the full streak. Sort of annoys me that it doesn't accept manual entries.
Also, apparently I'm 2nd place for distance and time last week in this Strava group!
There's nothing like building your own plan. Nobody knows their body like you do. Not that its not worth looking at existing plans, but if the end goal is streaking and not racing, you can deviate from the plan anytime you feel uncomfortable. Books like The Science of Running can help with building a proper plan. But most of all, listen to your body and, if you have the opportunity, work with a coach. An a personal (counter)-example, I was horribly out of shape when I started streaking three years ago and I quickly built up my mileage to about 10km/day (6.21mi/day) with a weekly long run, yet I only recently got used to running the distance without serious effort.
Just chiming in for #4, I bought some old school "sweat band" style headbands and they are GREAT for keeping your hair clean. I used to have sweat dripping down my face after a mile or so and have to stop to wipe my face with my tshirt...had to wash my hair and the whole shabang afterwards. Now i just wear one of those and the headband absorbs almost everything. I just take it off and wash it after each long run. All my hair needs is a little water and smoothing out and youd never know I went running.
These are the ones I have and they're great https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VVCBJ5K/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apap_TMCcV3zMQLDfG
The road id app is fairly savage for this kind of thing , presuming you have mobile data available to you. Its more aimed at alerting a friend that you havent moved in the case of an accident , but might help ?
