I tested several books. All were made by Audiobook Builder and I listened to these books on iOS in the past. I'm pretty sure the files themself are OK at least as far as Mac/iOS is concerned.
I'll try to build a small sample book after the holidays.
What I forgot:
Use this library to support embedded track list (chapters) in m4b (mp4) audiobooks. http://mp4chap.codeplex.com/ And nuget package https://www.nuget.org/packages/mp4chap/
Without mp4 chapter support m4b "Apple format" audiobooks support is very incomplete.
I created this lib. Just had to sit down, read ISO standard and done it.
It's a very simple portable library. But it works. Already use it in one of my store apps. Feel free to use it in Audiobooked. I have searched for an open source c# lib to support m4b/mp4 chapters and because there was none I created it myself.
I've submitted a special version for you (it has some logging implemented). If possible, please give it a try (just wait couple of hours from now, once it's certified by the store). Try to hang the app then run it second time to make it run ok. The app puts some more infromation to BetaAudiobookedErrorLog.txt file. I wonder if it hangs somewhere during book initialization. The file you will find in Music/ASP-Audiobooks folder, if possible please send me the file. If possible please note the time when you have made the test.
Generally this should be able to work in parallel to Beta version, however there is a chance that may be a conflict, hope in worst case you doesn't have crucial info in Beta version and can reinstall it if needed.
I've downloaded the book - thanks. I've tried couple of times and cannot get an single hang. Damn.
I agree that the app is the best app on the windows platform. On the android side there's Smart AudioBook Player, not really sure what you could add that's missing (Maybe a sort of reading and listening sync). What I'd kill for is 1) sort by duration 2) Cover grid feature, something like Cozy.
