Someone recently recommended this book. The more I really look into it, there are no contradictions, only a few scribal errors from hand copying every single book for 1000's of years. - https://www.amazon.com/Demolishing-Supposed-Bible-Contradictions-2/dp/0890516499/
It's good we DON'T have the originals because the countless copies all prove we have all of this coming from the same sources. This thing is more solid than I ever realized. My faith is thru the roof right now. This really is the Word of a Holy God.
One Book I’ve enjoyed that is really insightful is The Untold Story of the New Testament Church, it may be just the thing. It’s a guide really with quite a bit of info given then you read the Bible along with it. https://www.amazon.com/Untold-Story-Testament-Church-Extraordinary/dp/0768422361

Hey, thanks for mentioning this book. I don't recall ever hearing about it before, but looking it up on-line it looks pretty interesting. Here is a link to for a free copy to anyone interested. (Note the book is 'free' because the copyright protection has expired)
>but surely they couldn't believe in reincarnation could they?
I don't think so, but anything is possible I guess. I'm guessing they thought the prophesied Elijah would be as you said ... the 'spirit' of Elijah in a man.
