I desperately want to read this man's dreadful-sounding novels. The one he mentioned, the idea of small lives explored over the course of a novel, could be interesting. Hemingway did it, Malcolm Lowry did it, Denis Johnson and Carson McCullers did it, Falkner, et cetera...except these people put meaning and thought in to the concepts; it portrayed a point larger than "this is what a person did over the course of a story", you can analyse method and subtext, psychology to their actions. So, a person writing, to just "write a story" with nothing deeper to it, sounds absolutely shite and I really want to read it. Although I don't want to pay for the "privilege".
Edit: This is pretty dire.
The scars I bore were invisible, but they were present nevertheless. I wondered if they would ever really heal.
Step aside Herman Melville, you fucking brainlet, there's a new Master in town.
May I recommend something a little more…sophisticated?

I'm having a really hard time believing this one isn't satirical. There's no way a Boss Baby novelization exists.
This is like the third time in a week someone has posted essentially the same question and it gets upvoted every. single. time.
It's apparent from that thread that arrbooks ideal book is one where (i) lots of things happen (unlike Beowulf !!!!), (ii) the characters are all likeable (Holden is a whiny little bitch amirite), and (iii) straightforward (Charles Dickens was paid by the word hurdur). May I interest you in Curious George Goes To The Hospital? Sadly no audiobook version yet :(
I recommend every one who is interested in writing Star Wars fanfic to read Orson Scott Card's How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Lit has 2 Rand novels? WTF?
Also, and I get that this might be my opinion alone, but there should only be 1 Steinbeck, at best, and To Kill a Mockingbird is a good novel, geared towards YA readers and not nearly as impactful for non-American audiences. I get that people love it, but I'd even put Money Crisco on the list before that book. Maybe it's just me.
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? WTF?
Why the ever-loving fuck is there a satire section? Why is the sci-fi section half the list? Why is there a speculative fiction section? Why a children's section? Why are there all these random sections?
Yeah, a predictably shitty list, given that lists are bandied about here like dicks at a frat boy's hazing. If not just choosing a good list of books, why not create a list that makes logical sense, instead of arbitrary sections which should be subsections, etc., etc., etc?
She didn’t give any specifics, but you’ll probably see at least 20 at Walmart: you know, those giant stacks of thick novels that were probably shat out within a week? You’d be surprised on just how many books there are of hot, ripped guys saving/falling in love with woman, and they come in all different sub genres:
Hunky, barbarian Vikings saving woman.
Hunky soldiers with a sweet six pack saving woman.
Sexy, hardworking Amish man falls in love with a city woman (that’s somehow one of the most popular romance sub genres right now)
There’s even Lockdown romance novels, which combine other genres like Sexy teacher with bulky arms, sexy billionaire with charm, etc.
My favourite of these books it this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Quarantined-Lumberjack-Locked-Up-Together/dp/B087LGXZ8Z/ref=sr_1_18?dchild=1&keywords=quarantined+romance&qid=1589108244&sr=8-18
The man looks nothing like a lumberjack and I fucking love it.
Ayn Rand and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn are good reads on socialism. The Harry Potter books lays out some solid, practical fascist political theory. This is a good book on centrism
> My dinosaur harem fantasy series is adding something new to the world, mom!
This one really? Seems kinda weird for subway traveling cosmopolitans. Anyway they could just watch this with Kevin Bacon, allowing them to concentrate on some more mature literature during their morning commute.
Here is an amazon link to the text by Harold Bloom which makes such an argument. I have no idea how seriously to take it, as I've never read it. But this is probably what that comment is referencing.
> a young adult fiction story that genuinely sounds terrible
lmao holy shit you were underselling this
wowowowow.... i just finished green eggs and ham and I'm blown away. I never read any of the dr. seuss literary universe before (the DSLU, for those of us who are more well-read) but after devouring some racist anti-japanese propaganda by dr. seuss I decided to read Green Eggs and Ham. It's so hard to find a good apolitical author these days!
The ending for the first page made me cry. I don't generally get emotional, but I do not like that Sam I Am was a statement that really resonated with me, because there are so many kinds of people I don't like, as dr theodore seuss, PhD, would understand. Also, I had been trying the read the first page all day, and my eyes were a bit dry and sore as well, I think that aggravated things.
I like the Moleskine Art Sketchbook, Hard Cover, Large. No plot, no characters, no chapters, no words, no illustrations, no lines, no inksmell. Nothing but pure perfect pagefeel. Comes in red, blue and black covers for your color co-ordinating needs.
I've mentioned it before, but I'll mention it again: Pounded in the Butt by My Own Butt is a masterpiece.
Yeah, "Urban Fiction" is a trip. One of the most successful and award-winning series is about a drug gang lieutenant who becomes a muslim ninja with multiple wives who ends up going to japan to fight a ninja clan for one of them.

If we're going for interesting romance, I think this one takes the cake: Kissing the Coronavirus
From the description: "She was supposed to cure the Coronavirus. Instead... she fell in love with it. Dr Alexa Ashingtonford is a part of a crack team of scientists tasked with finding the cure to the devastating Coronavirus. Little did she know she would end up falling in love with it, in this steamy viral-erotica.Kissing Coronavirus is a steamy tale about forbidden love and dark desires come to life."

I’m not going to pretend like I’m the next Shakespeare or Sandyboy, but fucking Christ, do these people… know ANYTHING about their hobby? Imagine if the r/camping was just “how camp?” over and over again for 10 straight fucking years. And when they do write something, it’s always fucking awful. Look at the weekly critique thread, every. Damn. Document has bad formatting, clunky prose that makes A Pickle for the Knowing Ones look like a poetic masterpiece. I’ve written better work jerking off onto a napkin than half the stuff these people write. There’s only one person who’s ever been successful on that sub, and it’s true person who wrote this book: https://www.amazon.com/Saving-June-Harlequin-Hannah-Harrington/dp/037321202X/ref=nodl_
Alas, that was li
Hold on, this is based?? This will take pride of place on my bookshelf right next to my esoteric philosophical early reader 101 Ways to Use a Penis!
Just read the alternate version instead. You must be reading the version that doesn't give any mention to Mr. Darcy's sick vaping skillz.
In the past months, I've discovered Habit Hunter (link IOS or link Android) and silly as it may seem, it has been helping me organize my daily schedule in some ways, fight procrastination, get some bad habits sorted out, and implement some good ones.
For the ones that don't know it, it's essentially a productivity app with an RPG theme, where your real-life accomplishments help develop your in-game character.
> Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
Of course this has to be on there! Truly a masterpiece of a novel that teaches about individualism and taking on personal responsibility.
Trans Wizard Harriet Porber And The Bad Boy Parasaurolophus: An Adult Romance Novel by Chuck Tingle is the book you are looking for.
honestly their versions of moby dick are just atrocious like the one I've got is this monstrosity
https://www.amazon.com/Moby-Wordsworth-Classics-Herman-Melville/dp/1853260088
which isn't as ugly on glance, but just gets more and more annoying the more and more you look at it imo
This seems like a solid choice
I highly recommend checking out the Doctor’s other work too, but I think this is a good place to start!
Still better than the edition I have , which appears to bear an image of Robert Forster seductively caressing his bare chest.
