Yeah - some of the C-sides got changed to make them easier in the 1.2.6.0 update back in January. Most of them were pretty minor changes; 5C was by far the biggest.
This is Matt Thorson's reasoning for the change (from the Discord Server:
>I do think the c-sides were a bit too hard. They had the least testing of any levels in the game because I made them right at the end. I decided to address it before the new content because it will probably be gated behind the c-sides
Main story would probably take between 7-10 hours I'd guess. If you're a completionist then probably closer to 20-25. The website howlongtobeat is useful for these types of questions
Contact pads wear out over time for any dpad and it can lead to stickiness, mushiness, or increased misdirects depending how it fails. The good news is you can always replace the contact pad for much cheaper than getting a new controller.
Also there is an alternative vendor with a split dpad buttons mod now. I recently installed this in a controller and it's been a good experience so far too. A little bit cheaper especially for those outside the US where battlebeaver shipping gets expensive. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097D3GWT4/
1.3.3.0 is an older version of the game. The current version of the game is 1.4. You can read more about the differences in the changelog if you're interested. http://www.celestegame.com/changelog.html
I'd still recommend submitting a bug report on Steam and/or Discord, and make mention of how in only seems to happen with the 1.4 update. All game updates have the occasional growing pains, and I'm sure the devs would want to know about this.

but it might still be claimed by a bot, just fight it because you probably got accidentally claimed. However, seeing that you are trying to make unrelated videos, i’m not 100% sure, but it looks like it would be fine. Try emailing one of them
Yeah, same here.
It looks like it's one of the more recent changes that hasn't hit consoles yet; the changelog mentions fixing a softlock in the Chapter 8 B-Side in v1.2.3.2, whereas it looks to me like Switch is currently on v1.2.2.1 and PS4/XBone is on v1.2.1.5
Good news: the 1.3.3 update is going to increase the frame window for super bouncing, which is going to make it easier without dashing.
Source (Under V1.3.3.7): http://www.celestegame.com/changelog.html
Original Farewell release was patch 1.3.0.0. Consoles are still on that patch. PC is on 1.3.1.2. There were some changes to a couple of the key rooms as well as a handful of other screens. I don't remember the exact detail of the key room changes though because I haven't played those rooms in quite a while. http://www.celestegame.com/changelog.html
According to the changelog there are just small bugfixes and little changes to some of the room in the last chapter (the one released in ver. 1.3.0.0).
You won't be missing out on any content if you get it for the Switch. The dev's have said they plan to update the console versions of the game, but no date has been given.
Yeah, the changelog lists this for v1.2.3.0:
>* Added 1 pixel (4->5) to distance player will wiggle to avoid bonking on a ceiling corner, but only when she is dashing straight upward
>* Added 2 pixels (3->5) to maximum distance from a wall that the player can wall jump, but only when she is dashing straight upward
...meanwhile XBone/PS4 is still on v1.2.1.5, and Switch is on v1.2.2.1. So, yeah, the window for doing a wallbounce is around 42% bigger on PC than it is on console.
No worries. And yeah, downdraft and moving block spikejumps tend to be a bit unreliable. Subpixel dependent and such. Holding a second jump button to trigger half gravity can be helpful, as that allows you to adjust the (fall) speed of your approach.
Keeping your primary jump short and buffered can help too. Buffered jump to immediately kick off the block, short jump to avoid getting too much height--and too much falling speed as a result. It's still a bit of a crap shoot though.
Facebook marketplace is the place to go, ebay sellers are listing them for way too much. I got this at a garage sale yesterday for super cheap. And then you'll need an hdmi -> rca adapter, be careful to not buy an rca -> hdmi one because that wont work, I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CH91V1W/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_64B7J7BZA332EFJA6AYQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Find the save data, and edit the file for 0.celeste
as xml (with a text editor, for example). Here's one of mine for reference.
Do not own any editing software
GIMP and Paint.net are great alternatives if you don't have €90 to blow on Photoshop (or however much it costs idk never bought it). They're both free, fairly easy to use, and don't take up too much disk space.
Alternately, you could use Tiermaker, which is what I'm fairly sure most ppl are using to make these tierlists.
Hope that was helpful :)
I downloaded via both itch.io and Steam. I wanted to GIFT you my key, but it appears Steam makes this impossible (I think you can do this via Humble Bundle when you get duplicate games in bundles).
Two guys who have never played Celeste write fanfiction about it:

~~I'm also working on a short story myself but with my track record it probably won't get finished.~~
Yeah, it's the Windows version. It might not be perfect, but a free game is a free game.
If you install EGS through Lutris, it uses a fork of proton by default, which should minimize any tweaking you have to do.
I only use Linux and I've been grabbing the weekly free games on EGS for about a month now. About half of the games I've tried so far install and work without any trouble on my machine (Celeste included).
This is misinformation. the "bumper boost" comes from holding the same horizontal direction as the bumper is launching you. https://i.imgur.com/gFgbRdK.png

I don't remember when V1.2 went live, but I think it was still in 2018 or at the start of 2019.
This might have something to do with Lena Raine, the composer being transgender. She stated this in a tweet in 2015: https://twitter.com/kuraine/status/583077278566891520?s=21
The LGBT flag is to represent the diversity of the orientations of the developers, who is who I don’t know, but I know Matt Thorson’s bio on Twitter describes Matt with “They/Them” pronouns. Or the mountain is gay; https://curiouscat.me/MattMakesGames/post/154779182
Just nitpicking, but Pico-8 is actually a video-game console and not a game, and the original Celeste (now dubbed CELESTE Classic) was a game written for that console. The new Celeste just made an almost 1:1 port of the original game to play on the in-game Pico-8 console. :)
It's not in that particular file, so I looked at a decompiled version of the game's code - since the game is in unobfuscated C#, it's pretty simple to use a program like ILSpy to decompile it. (This isn't always legal to do, but fortunately, the Celeste devs are generally cool with people using tools to reverse-engineer the game, as long as you don't, like, redistribute the entire thing, or copy large parts of it and claim it as your own.)
Specifically, it's in the ProximityExplodeCheck()
method inside the Puffer
class - it checks whether the player's CenterY
is greater than a particular value relating to the puffer's own height before allowing the boost. (In this game, positive Y is downward, so this amounts to checking whether the player's center is low enough.)
yep, I do want it, unfortunately I dont have much moeny to spend on gaming, and I have so many games I want (see: https://airtable.com/shrKfVnwdBEYfUAnF/tblB6evy28vWWrQZJ?blocks=hide)
In that case, I would search for something like an anti ghosting membrane keyboard or gaming membrane keyboard. You might be able to find something with less keypress travel than the mechanical keyboards, but more likely to work for you than a common office keyboard. This one looks interesting to me: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086168Y25/
Oh, it's not the main joycons. There's some different ones that add 3 extra buttons to loop the button, assign it and use it on each side. here's a link to them: https://www.amazon.co.uk/HORI-Split-Pad-Pro-Nintendo/dp/B07T5QKKVP
What I'm using is very similar to this here.
it dries quickly and is VERY light once it's done.
I don't really see how it's a ripoff. I went ahead and looked it up, and watched the video on the app page. There are definitely similarities, and it'd be fair to say there's a good chance they took inspiration from Celeste, but it's not like Celeste has any sort of exclusive claim to any of those mechanics. It has enough unique on its own and overall looks to be a much different gameplay experience, which I'd say is the most important thing. Plus, as another comment pointed out, they're not trying to monetize it at all; the game is free and doesn't have microtransactions, and according to the description doesn't even have ads.
I don't know if this will help you but I bought a pack on amazon that came with 2 joysticks and the tools needed to replace the joycons joysticks, all for like 12€. I followed a youtube tutorial and replaced mine in less than an hour (it's also really easy to do, I just was really careful). This was the pack if you are interested (from Amazon spain but surely there's one like this on wherever you live) https://www.amazon.es/dp/B07S61YG4D?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Looked it up and apparently 8BitDo makes their own receiver you can snag from amazon for something like twelve bucks: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Adapter-Nintendo-Switch-Raspberry/dp/B0786JC6VW/
Yeah I gave up on using the joycons real quick, I felt like I was going to tear them apart. I finished the whole game on one of these, it was way more comfortable but still not ideal. I'd say at least 50% of my deaths were from dashing horizontally or vertically when trying to go diagonally.
