Hell yeah. Time to hike for dozens of miles only to flush a single bird which I will totally whiff the shot on.
I swear I have the hardest time hunting those buggers despite big game hunters always telling me they are absolutely everywhere. I went on over 10 grouse hunts last year, and saw a grand total of 2 solo birds and 1 covey. Hopefully this year will be different. Also worth noting that the mountains have been ridiculously dry this year so they will likely be heading up high earlier in the season.
Also, mandatory plug for the mysterious grouse bible that popped up on the internet a few years back: https://www.docdroid.net/s1N7bSv/how-to-hunt-dusky-grouse-2-pdf
I don’t use it for a multipurpose day pack necessarily, but if your packing in this one does the job sufficiently without breaking the bank.

I think but honestly do not know definitively. My recollection of those Yeti 20L coolers is that they are pretty small. These look to be about the size of the one I used. Using the measurements, appears to be 31L. https://www.amazon.com/Pack-Reusable-Reinforced-Handle-Grocery/dp/B07W84D6PM/ref=psdc_1252210011_t2_B07T2NZ8TM
I personally don't plan to take shots beyond 300 yards, 350 yards max. I just don't want to push my ability that far and risk wounding an animal.
Anyway, that said, I think a good quality scope without parallax correction would be just fine. When I bought mine I had access to an employee discount and thus was able to easily justify the additional cost.
I have this one, but with parallax correction. Despite the modest price, it has been excellent for me, and you can't beat their lifetime warranty.
I haven't had them, but elk ribs are thing according to Steve Rinella's book. He is a big advocate about using every part of the animal and the book is full of recipes. Based on your comments in this thread, I think you would enjoy it.
