Practical experience is hard to come by without attending an in person course at a regionally accredited University with lab access. Or getting a job.
However if you are looking for a useful degree path and certifications, I cannot say this enough but check out Western Governors University (no I don't work for them). All of their Bachelor's and Master's degree career paths include technical certifications. It's extremely beneficial as they include the certifications at no additional cost. So you walk away with your bachelor's in IT and 10-14 certifications depending on the path.
I should say that in the IT field the best way to get practical experience is to do it yourself at home. Setting up home routers, servers, and firewalls are great practice for networking and sysadmin jobs. And a lot of websites have self taught self pace coding and regex programs. I use the website Code Wars. I have attached links below of useful information.
That's completely false. CCleaner is a wonderful and reliable application. It's very good not only for privacy but also boosting PC performance. Here you can see some reviews: http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/
You probably want to use virtual machine; https://www.virtualbox.org/ install this program than download Kali Linux ISO and install it on virtualbox. Check tutorial on YouTube. https://youtu.be/FVmWMogGX4Q
More practical than dual boot
I couldn't afford schooling, but was still interested in an IT/Security career because I was fluent with computers and I knew there would be a growing market for such jobs as technology improved. I recommend you check out Cybrary.it It has free online courses and give you the links to get all your IT certifications without needing to pay for school. (you'll still need to pay for the cost to take the certification tests but that pales in comparison to school costs imo) Even if you decide to go to school, this will let give you a good idea if you grasp the material well enough or not. I'm currently using it while working my barely above minimum wage job to pay rent and internet to take the classes. Hope it helps!
I am majoring in IT with a concentration in Cyber Security. I would recommend going to get some certifications under your belt. Now, the downfall to this is that certifications don't last forever so since you are still young you probably wont be able to put them to good use BUT it is a great way to learn a ton of information and you are going to need them when you are looking for a job!
I recommend studying for the CompTIA A+ certification, followed by Network+ and then Security+. You can rent books to study for these tests on amazon for around $20 and check out this website. Professor Messor's website has a ton of useful videos regarding everything about the A+, Net+ and Sec+ certifications all for free and these videos were a huge help to me.
Go check out the CompTIA website and take a look around. Its a great place to get started.
Sorry for sounding pessimistic, but nothing is safe online! We are seriously living in the times where we created network systems that can withstand nuclear attacks but are vulnerable to toasters. There are measure we can take to protect our own accounts and keep ourselves safe from phishing attacks but what are going to do when the system itself is vulnerable? Avoid putting your social media accounts at risk by implementing these five simple tips: Be selective with third-party applications; Use strong passwords; Install antivirus software; Enable two-factor authentication; Move passwords to a management program.
This is a great answer. Also, once you learn how to use things in Kali, in my opinion it's a good idea to also learn Parrot OS. They are pretty much the same and both have their plus and minuses, but Parrot seems to be more aesthetically pleasing for me.
As a contribution to the SMB and IT community, I am making the kindle eBook Free again through Friday, January 21st, 2022.

I agree with this article, but let's not forget upcoming technological advancements like AI and machine learning. Although billions of dollars are spent on cybersecurity, the number of reported cyber attacks and the magnitude of breaches keep rising. There are many frontiers where harnessing the predictive power of AI might give the upper hand to security vendors — and to us all, including individuals and businesses.
The measures undertaken in this law form an integral part of the sweeping push that President Xi Jinping is giving to further consolidate control over the internet in China. Some salient features of the new law: Imposes mandatory testing and certification of computer equipment; Requires companies to give government investigators full access to their data if wrong-doing is suspected; Makes censorship a matter of cybersecurity, threatening to punish companies that allow unapproved information to circulate online.
The election will go on, even if hackers attack. With cybersecurity researchers raising the specter of a cyber attack on Election Day state and local officials are doubling down on a different message: no matter what, the final vote will be legitimate.
There are many certification courses you can look for and learn some basic online tools which will help you. Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) these are some certification courses you can take up. Also start learning and using tools like MetaSploit, Nmap etc. I would suggest starting with Nmap, as it is available for all major OS. Nmap was basically designed for scanning large networks however it works fine on small networks as well. You can look up various other options you have at https://cyware.com/journal/top-5-ethical-hacking-tools-2016/
I used to restore them through my phone number, but it gets frustrating to keep on doing that every time. One of my friends told me to do it again and delete all of my personal stuff as soon as I recover it. I did that just recently, but I hope the hacker didn't save any of them to his/her computer. I've been reading real-life cases and it kind of scares the shit out of me. Read 2 victim interviews on PureVPN's blog and 1 on the Daily Beast. They are a must read, gives so much confidence and motivation to fight against such stalkers! Is there any way that I can find if my photos had been downloaded to some other device?
Give your family member a hug from my side! I know what it is like to be in this pile of mess! I've been trying to look up more stories since yesterday and it seems like PureVPN is also putting real-life stories. I have seen stories of 2 victims on their website, Kris Degioia and Alexis Moore. These stories kind of inform you of what could happen and how to deal with it, because my case got me depressed and frustrated! You recommend your family member to check out these stories too! They've helped me restore my confidence and motivation towards the internet.
