I use dr bronners peppermint castile soap and jamaican black castor oil. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071LG14JL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabt1_oVmTFbE38F37H Its probably much cheaper to get this at your local stores. I got the dr bronners from walmart and I got the oil from a local hair store for $3.99
I tried many products among them best is Patanjali Natural Shampoo( it's free from any chemicals, also there are many variants but only "natural" one I tried and worked for me). Don't use any conditioner because this Patanjali shampoo works like charm as if you used two in one shampoo and conditioner. Nizoral and Selenium sulfide shampoo also worked for me but they were not as good as this Patanjali one. I generally first wash hair with selenium sulfide or Nizoral but you can wash with any budget shampoo which is good for you (sauve antidandruff would be fine too) then wash with Patanjali Natural and it helped me like as if I came out of hell of oily head and scratching dandruff. I hope this method can work for you.
I would recommend getting one of these. It helps remove build up please it feels awesome! Also i love Avedas scalp benefits balancing shampoo. It is a little pricey, for me it's worth it. It helps remove the build up and helps with breakages due to build up. I have linked both items I've mentioned.
Please click on the link i’ve attached a shampoo that changed my life . I suffer from Seborrheic Dermatitis and this shampoo controls your symptoms from day 1 ! it helps with dandruff , dermatitis and everything else ! It smells a bit strong but i’m sure it’ll change your life just as it did mine ! Best part it’s only 7.99 !
Looks like cradle cap (can happen to toddlers as well).
Try mct oil to loosen the flakes and brush them out. For shampoo, use ceraphil baby shampoo ([link])(https://www.amazon.ca/Cetaphil-Baby-Wash-Shampoo-400/dp/B07C23S1YC/ref=asc_df_B07C23S1YC/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292925387438&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8119343514996373990&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&h...)
I have that in my hairline too! Not sure what causes it but to me it seems to be seasonal or potentially triggered by stress. Haven’t figured it out yet, but what has worked for me is this: SkinSmart Antimicrobial Eczema... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0O0TV7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share And also triple shampooing with the Dove dandruff shampoo (the one with some purple on the bottle). Even though it’s the same active ingredient as H&S that didn’t work for me. Only Dove worked and the triple shampoo is key. Then spray this a few times a day.
This product helped mine. It's strong, first week use 3-4 times till cleared, after that like 1 time a week.https://www.amazon.com/Head-Shoulders-Clinical-Dandruff-Intensive/dp/B09GTWFVCJ/ref=pd_lpo_1?pd_rd_i=B09GTWFVCJ&psc=1
Hi all, I hope I provide enough information here but if you need anything else please feel free to ask. Currently I am having very bad issues with my flaking to the point where the back of my shirts are covered in white flakes.
I’m 25M living in the UK. I believe I have thick wavy hair which tends to be very coarse and straw like. The water in my area is hard.
I have over the past 1-2 years I have been trying different approaches. I have tried a nopoo/lowpoo methods with just using conditioner to wash, I was using Garnier hair food the Aloe Vera one. That method did not seem to help much with my hair health as it tended to still be coarse and dry, I did still get some flakes but it was not to the extent of my current situation.
Currently I’m shampooing and cleaning my hair about 2 times a week with Aunt Jackies Moisturizing and Softening Shampoo, Oh So Clean! (Aunt Jackies Moisturizing and Softening Shampoo, Oh So Clean! 355 ml https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008R42AA4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TNX8ECJPM737Z0WCNNDR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) and using Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil leave in conditioner. I still have the Aloe Vera Garnier hair food conditioner which I use occasionally too. This is helping with the overall look of my hair but my scalp is flaking badly! I do like to style my hair but recently I’ve found that the leave in conditioner does a good job and I don’t need any product.
I’ve been using paraben/silicone etc free products for the past year. As I have thick hair not sure if I do in-fact need silicones? (Just some comments I’ve read)
From the CurlyGirlMethod the quiz told me I have Low-Porosity.
NB: I have never tried an ACV rinse.
Any advice on whether this is in fact dry scalp rather than dandruff and what methods/products I could implement into my routine would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Thank you for any help!

Have you tried using a silicone scalp massager brush thing? There are a lot of them sold on Amazon. Those can help a lot. https://www.amazon.com/Massager-EUHOME-Scrubber-Exfoliator-Dandruff/dp/B08VDL298K/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=scalp%2Bmassager&qid=1625849426&sprefix=scalp&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=AVK8K5JWA1NZO&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdG...

After years of fighting dandruff it's the only thing that works and we have similar symptoms.
I'm using Free & Clear anti dandruff shampoo and conditioner right now, it's not a two in one but it works. I also use the shampoo to diulate the dandruff shampoo since its a bit more strong than the head and shoulders and you don't get as much.

You really know what you’re talking about. I think it might be dandruff since it bigger flakes like you mentioned. I anyway washed off the oil that I had applied in one hour. I shampooed 2x with Tresseme shampoo red bottle and used a little Peeling Shampoo as spot treatment. I’ll have to consider using head and shoulders sometimes to see if that works. I usually stick to one shampoo as I find my hair gets too oily when I change products.
Ross for around $8, I did see it on Amazon for $16 and their website for $28. Below are links:

I used to get these and a scalp massager/shampoo brush works wonders for my head! I have one similar to this.
I have also started to use a clarifying shampoo and a conditioner that’s free of Parabens, sulfates, and all the other bad things. r/curlyhair has a list of conditioners that fall in this category.
I really like shampooing with a scalp brush. I have seb derm on my scalp as well and using it consistently have helped me not have as bad of flare ups. Amazon link .
You can find it on Amazon .. shipped thru Prime .. about 2 days if you are subscribed to prime ..Amazon is very good with fast shipping and reliable .. Eucerin DermoCapillaire Calming Urea Shampoo https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QE9YF34/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7vS9Db6E6CMEW
Hey so I'm using a selenium sulfide shampoo. The flaking has reduced and it's fine for now (90% less flaking). But I don't know how long this will keep working. Using it every 4 days. I don't think it's dandruff. Maybe it's dry scalp but I haven't figured out why it is so dry
If you wanna know which shampoo it is then click the link below.

Order a high frequency machine off just make sure it has a comb/brush attachment off Amazon. It has glass rods that help that in killing bacteria and will help get rid of that in your hair follicle. It will also help promote thicker hair and less dandruff. Do not use it if you have epilepsy or a prone to seizures. It will smell a little funny but that’s it killing the bacteria. And if you feel anything that’s shocking to you, you’re probably holding it too far from your skin. I had pretty thin hair no dandruff problems but it did help thicken up my hair. Plus you can use on your face and help get rid of acne and wrinkles.
I do facials I have this one for work found it on amazon-
NuDerma Portable Handheld High Frequency Skin Therapy Wand Machine w/Neon - Acne Treatment - Skin Tightening - Wrinkle Reducing - Dark Circles - Puffy Eyes - Hair Follicle Stimulator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06W5PD1KY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZruIEbJ0W8E3N
The conditioner is ‘built in’ because it is a 2 in 1 shampoo. I can’t find Citrus Fresh on Amazon.com, but Green Apple is also great. Here’s the link to Amazon
