If you have an Amazon account, this is an EXCELLENT book for both new and experienced hunters. I highly highly recommend it. It’s a manageable little paper book that I polished off in about 2 days, but the wealth of information is fantastic. It covers both archery and firearm shot placement, how to tell by the evidence on the ground what kind of shot you actually landed, and what to do for tracking in each scenario.

That belonged to a buddy of mine that was helping me clean and quarter it. I've seen it on Amazon
I picked this pack up earlier this year and liked it a lot during mushroom hunting, turkey & deer hunting season. Comes with a hunter orange rain fly which was nice to cover the pack during deer gun season so my back was completely orange. As far as items to put in the pack - orange trail marker tape, first aid kit, gutting/skinning knives, head lamp, gloves, grunt call, rattle bag, etc.

Knives or Broadheads? Sharper Broadheads are better but I have never reused one or sharpened one. Also never had one not pass through a deer.
For knives I used to use Lansky on my knives but it is time consuming with many knives I have between the kitchen and hunting. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B001CA5LZ6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_FMEE59FHP4VF0E2XSTE2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It's easy to use and fast. Keeps blades very sharp.
I got one of these a few weeks ago, it is a total game changer.
Plixio Gel Seat Cushion Memory... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P8VWJVB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Previously used a single-layer foam seat cushion, and would always be in terrible pain after 2 hours. This thing was 4 hours no problem several times.
I boiled, power washed, and then low boiled with this hair bleach.
I use this one for shorter hunts. Has a attached cap that is magnetic, kinda handy. Holds enough water for a morning or afternoon sit for me.

Price seems good, never used them before but I have a few of these out, they're about the same price and for $33 a pop I have no complaints.
Unsure if you all have Walmart up there but I use this spray during deer and turkey when it's warmer out. $10 bottle usually gets me thru both seasons. Amazon is more expensive but I assume that the $4 difference covers shipping.

Overkill? Maybe, however I really like mine and enjoy the larger optic. It's used on my 7mm rem mag.
Make sure your boots are big enough. In other words, never buy winter boots the same size as say your running shoes or office shoes.
My feet are my nemesis too.
I actually use something like this with running socks with hand warmers in the insulators. If I get too warm, I take them out.
If possible, change your socks when you get to your stand too...the sweat from the walk can cause some damage an hour or two later.
Here's one (Amazon). The product description explains the jerky make process in general terms.
Haven't used it so I can't recommend for or against it, just using it for example.
Not sure why you got down voted, but here's a very inexpensive red dot sight I put on my 12 gauge. Seems to hold zero pretty well and has been quite reliable.

Similar history with me as well. I'm a hunter by nature, so whenever I get in the woods, it is the most refreshing thing ever.
Have you ever seen a book that had 100% 5/5 reviews? This one does. I bought this book several years ago and it is by far the best, most insightful book about deer and deer hunting in existence.

Start with this book and you will know as much or more than a person that has hunted for 10 years.
Whether you hunt this year or next - get the book.
Ok... Now that you have that covered, get out in the woods (after hunting season) and look for rubs and scrapes.. Its also fun to go shed hunting (searching for dropped antlers) in March or so.
Do that and you've got yourself a great start.
Sog Seal Pup - I bought both sizes. This one is fantastic!!! I use it every year.
