Definitely HPs. I think you can opt for a mac if you are a certain level.
You will likely get a new one, but getting a handmedown that is still under service agreements is not unusual, especially for lower levels.
I can't remember if I got to pick my initial laptop or not, but when my refresh date came up there was a website I could log into and choose from several different models.
Whatever you do, most of them all run off USB C. Go out and get one of the new GaN chargers with multiple ports and stop carrying around 5 different power adapters. I like this one because you can use it with or without a cord: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XQMKQFV/
Any mouse will do. But this is my mouse and I love it a lot.

Please not it was not so pricey when I got it. Donno if it's worth it at this price, but something with at least a few programmable buttons in nice. I like having enter as a thumb button especially.
You're fine. No one's going to hold a witch hunt over it. Just don't do it again.
My #1 rule is that NOTHING gets plugged into my Deloitte laptop, or a client machine, ever. I either have my personal laptop with me if I need/can, or... for charging I bought an Anker multiport charger. Charges faster, multiple items (my whole team can use it), and NEVER any data transfer issues or even the hint of it.

Added bonus, this makes you a ton of friends in Airports if you can let more people use the available outlets, and charge their iWhatevers faster than the factory lego does.
