I looked into purchasing & dyeing rayon fibers, but in the end I settled on a jug of premade Woodland Scenics #FL636 for $14 on Amazon.
I'm still improving with painting, but I think it came out alright (I don't want to over-paint it). I printed out and carefully cut stickers for the handle covers, so I can change the beers if I want.
The Woodland scenic paving tape is for HO scale, which is smaller than Hot Wheels. At least the item I found when I searched for that term.
I have this tape, which I like, and is 1/64 scale.

I use that tape on fabric. Some questions have answers that state that it can mess wood up, contrary to what the product claims.
I think this tape would be much easier to use than what you’ve listed above. But maybe your son wants to craft his own roads. In that case, someone else will have to guide you because I have no experience crafting my own dioramas, I just happened on this sub and saw your question and thought I’d throw my two cents in.
Good luck.
The focus is mainly on architectural models or prototype models of stage sets but the information is transferable to dioramas. I found it very useful. David Neat also has a website which is worth checking out.
You can get pre-wired LED's that come with a connector and battery like this one.
This is also a great entry- level soldering project, as you can solder pre-wired LED's to a simple battery power supply.
Just plug lighting system is really simple
Here’s what I bought: Acacia Grove bricks

It's a modified dollhouse desk. I made it taller, added molding, painted it and closed the gap under the middle. The table with the stars team group photo was made from scratch. I used basswood for the body and balsa wood for the molding. It's held together with hot glue and resin.

That is what I used! Not sure if you are familiar with the water making process with those but it comes with two liquid resins, you give one a stir then the other a stir and them mix them together with maybe your own color dye. This was actually my third time using that stuff! Then made the little ripples with Modge Podge Clear gloss.
Superglue + accelerant (like this one)

It took me about a week, doing a few hours a day. I'd do one piece of furniture then set it aside to dry and move onto the next, sometimes having to go back to the first set later for additional steps.

Everything you need is in the box, though I recommend some bulldog clips for when you're making the books. Also, the glue in the box was rather poor and not very accurate in placing - so I really, really recommend getting a Stick-It glue pen - it's accurate, strong glue and hella cheap. Hope you enjoy the project, it's so wonderful when finished... the pictures don't do it justice. :)
No problem! We initially bought the first ender for personal use and then when the pandemic hit...we ordered two more and were printing PPE like face shields and masks to donate to hospitals and businesses in need. Now that there’s not much of a demand for it...we started printing little gnomes to secretly leave at friend’s/family’s houses that we’re able to visit now. So the possibilities are just about endless. Here’s an Amazon link to the model we have if you want to take a look.

I’m using this high density crafting foam from Amazon https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08MKT2RC2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_MADD0DT2PH6BM72FHHV9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 For tools I scored the foam with a 18mm utility knife. A weird discovery I made ; I used Tamiya extra thin cement trying to glue smaller foam pieces for the shore and found it melted the foam emphasizing recesses and texture. If doing this dilute the Tamiya cement (they come in small bottles and it’s strong) please do it in an EXTREMELY well ventilated area because it will emit fumes while drying
I‘m starting out as well, found this really nice air dry clay, 2 pounds, and it cures in 24 hours. I don’t know how useful it would be for modelling animals/creatures, but so far I have noticed it’s good for sculpting rocks and simple scenery. My only problem with it is that the edges tend to curl up as they dry, so maybe try and flatten the edges as much as you can.

Perhaps frame the rock with clear acrlic as if prepping for a resin pour and then use the sand art method to build up the layers like with a

The first one was a gift so I don’t know the exact seller but there seems to be several selling the same kit. I got the second from this seller.

Follow the directions and you should be fine.
whatever the maximum input the ion generator can take without burning out, lets say 9v dc. You find a wall wart transformer that transforms your wall out let down to 9v dc. thrift store or amazon for a few bucks. I got one for my ion box thing that came with an adaptor that let me screw the two wires in to the end, so like where your batteries connect that now leads to the transformer that plugs in to the wall. safety, safety, etc. make sure you don't go above the voltage your ion thing can handle, if it is not labelled, I haven't the foggiest how to tell.
I bought this DIY kit for 29.99 and had to go through the wiring and assembly and tool creation but it's a beast so far and I think this dude sells just the ion heart bit, his website is trash though so ymmv https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071W6L9Z8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
