Happy to give you some tips & techniques to help you. I'm an ex Flight Supervisor, who flew during 9/11 & encountered many situations during my many flying years. Wind is not a problem. The wind flags at airports are there for a reason and Flight deck & ATC work together to see how it is best to take-off & land at any given time. Each day, flight, route is different but safety is always the priority! Head wind will slow the flight down & cross winds are avoided as much as possible but please rest assurred pilots are extensively trained to deal with all situations. You’ll be fine on your flight!! One bad flight can do that though, that’s what made me afraid of flying too.
I read the book SOAR by Captain Bunn and it basically cured my fear of flying. I highly recommend giving it a read before your next flight :)

No, they’re like these.
Heard! Just flew today for the first time without my husband, who’s the love of my life and I hate doing things without. All the fears you have, I had! Notice I wrote “had.” I read this book - How to Overcome Fear of Flying -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/1733338500?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share - as well as many posts and comments on this sub, and I was fine. Yeah, a little bit of nervousness, but I listened to a guided meditation via Spotify for anxiety, and all those helped soooo much. I didn’t cry or feel my heart palpitate during takeoff, and when the fasten seatbelt sign went off I immediately went to the bathroom (I really had to go after waiting to take off for 40 minutes). Any noises heard or bumps felt, I changed my mindset to the logical reasoning behind it, which again was the help from that book and this sub. You’ll be fine. Planes are safe and pilots would not fly if the plane is unsafe, because they want to get back home to the ones they love as well. It’ll all be fine and you’ll be so happy you did it.
Lift your feet! As crazy as it sounds, it really works, for me at least. Amazon also has an airplane foot rest for $20 that might help.
Curious to know if there other good ones, I'm kind of just learning to confront my fear. Good luck!

Those are both great ideas! You really do have to trick your brain to get through it sometimes.
I overcame my flight anxiety and I'm working on developing a course. The pilot led courses are honestly lacking some. Some people love them, but everyone's situation is different and requires techniques that are different than what the popular courses cover.
I'm conducting research and if you are open to it you can schedule a free 30min call with me. If you like the call, schedule another one for free again. This is all for research and I'm not going to sell you anything. I'm just trying to make the best course possible.
I've already helped myself and others, so I'm hoping to build even more social proof that I know how to do this. I also suffered from health anxiety and panic attacks, so I'm no stranger to the struggle.

Congratulations on how far you've come so far!

I was terrified of my first international flight, but other than some rough turbulence that didn't bother me anymore once I found out it wasn't dangerous, the scariest thing was trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in.
As hilarious as this looks, I wish I had something like this! https://www.amazon.com/Sunany-Inflatable-Pillow-Airplanes-Earplugs/dp/B07GTGLTYP/
When you're getting close to your destination (usually a few hours away), the flight attendants will come around and give you your Customs Declaration Form to fill out. This is where you're put your name, SSN, reason for your visit, which countries you're visiting, contact information, etc. This is also where you declare what (if anything) you're bringing into the country. This only applies to food or other items that may be restricted - sounds like what you're taking doesn't apply. If you have any questions about the form, the flight attendants will help - they're very used to dealing with first time international travelers!
When you land, you will go through a line that takes you to customs where you will meet with a customs officer. They'll ask for your passport, and depending on how busy a day they're having, they might ask you a couple of questions about your visit. Just answer honestly, and you'll be good to go!
That's pretty much it. Just make SURE you keep your passport on you in a safe spot at all times. Something like this might be useful if you're at all concerned about that.
I know this is a late response, but...

The app has a G-Force meter that will function while on your flight. Read about turbulence in the basics section, especially about how planes are designed to withstand 2.5 G’s continuously and operate completely normal. For reference, normal gravity force is 1.0 G, severe turbulence (something you’re not likely to ever experience on a commercial flight) is about 1.6 G’s.
Not saying this will cure you, but having the meter on a flight might help ease your anxiety when you see you’re only experiencing 1.1 to 1.2 G’s at any given time.
Just a few little practical tips that help me:- - When you board the plane, try to imagine a force field of space around you. When seated, stretch a bit. Make sure your clothing is loose and comfortable. - Take off is actually quite brief. During takeoff, focus on your feet. (Think about how they feel inside your shoes. Are they warm or cold? Are your socks smooth or rough? Can you feel the floor through the soles of your shoes? Try to sense each individual toe. Notice which ones you can sense without moving the toes). Sounds silly but it gets your mind engaged and away from feeling anxiety sensations. - As soon as it is allowed, put in ear plugs or, better yet, noise-cancelling earbuds/headphones. Have some podcasts chosen and ready in case the films are available or aren’t engaging enough. This will drown out the noise of the engines, allowing you to focus on a podcast or movie till your anxiety abates.
(Probably not enough time to get these now late but TaoTronics makes excellent, lower cost, noise-cancelling earbuds.)
