Supposedly the one below works. I haven’t seen it in action nor looked into it whatsoever but I did know it existed. Please give it a try and report back!
highly recommend ya get some LavaLock tape - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00JO00S04/ & also try GMGs pellets. I've tried 3 or 4 brands of pellets and always go back to GMGs pellets. much less saw dust/wasted pellets & seemingly more consistent temps.
I ordered the connector from Amazon, it was plenty big to cover where the 12v lighter style socket was, it came with an end that I cut off and replaced the plug on one end of the power cable for the grill. I just put the plugs ends required so it plugs in exactly how the original socket was plugged in to the grill. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XLK4CH3/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_8UGMFbDRNHRRM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I’m using my JB right now, so I can’t check on mine, but by looking at this pic, there seems to be a plate (and i recall mine having these holes to index the late) that appears to be missing.
It’s hard to see in this video but it’s there.
Notice in this pic how it had 4 holes? When the plate is in place, only 2 of those holes are open for a bolt.

Agreed. Get a cast iron griddle/grill pan for a fraction of the cost. And you get a griddle too.
I have this setupthis setup, and used it last weekend with my trek (new DC) this weekend. The grill was on from 10am-3pm, and used 10% battery (I did not use the solar as I knew I wouldn't need it). Very happy with it, as that mean I should get roughly 40 hours of smoking out of it.
Not an answer to the OP, but I have been using this light, https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H38M7R2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for years. It has many placement options since it is magnetic. It is a bright light which is great for those dark evenings.
I did it last year. I am not super handy and didn’t find it too terrible. By far, the absolute worst part is drilling through the sheet metal with a hole saw. Massive pain in the dick. Everything else was pretty easy.
In response to your other comment, it’s very easy to keep the cig plug, which is what I did. I used these posi taps to tap the power line.
Only part of mine that’s a little janky is the screws securing power converter.
Overall 10/10 highly recommend.
For good searing you need either a decent amount of thermal mass (cast iron skillet for example) or a very high heat output, not just a high surface temp but the ability to maintain that surface temp.
That griddle looks like it lacks the thermal mass and the grills are not ideal at maintaining high surface temps as it isn't what they are designed to do.
If you want a larger surface area than what a skillet can provide consider getting a large BBQ plate to sit directly on the stainless grates. Something like this.

I bought a double male from an auto parts store. It was branded armour all. I had a good chuckle. If that’s the part that’s smashed you need a double male 12 V adapter. Most auto parts or RV supply places will have it. https://www.amazon.ca/Extractme-Cigarette-Lighter-Charger-Cable/dp/B08KZXXZ5M/ref=mp_s_a_1_18?dchild=1&keywords=double+male+12v+adapter&qid=1627652467&sr=8-18
A rib rack might be your best best if you're trying to fit more on the grill. I think you would fit more using the rack than doing the upper shelf on that grill.
I don't have this rack, just an example, there are lots of them on Amazon.
I’m wondering if the oven would fit in this. The dimensions GMG lists aren’t really helpful.

I had the same problem and I feel its due to the small size of the smoker and how close the grate is to the fire box. I bought an upper rack and put the brisket on it to give it more distance from the firebox. Btw, I did buy an single piece grease tray too. While it's nicer to clean and stops grease fires (grease got trapped between the two pieces even when wrapped in foil) it didn't prevent the burning of the bottom.
Hope that helps!

Measured the spot I wanted them and then just started with small bits and worked my way up until the threads on the thermometers fit through. Drill slowly, it works better!
Hind sight, I may have put them a little further up and inwards, but they still do the trick.
