Thats what I was saying last week and people were calling me dumb lol..This is the monthly calendar from wunderground. I really hope they are 100% wrong if it reaches 60 i'm gonna lose my shit.
definitely just a test -- supposed to be in the 50s and 60s the next few days. doesn't dropping below freezing anywhere on the shortrange horizon
Ever notice how you can see where the Green Mountain's spine is in many of these maps? You can see what I mean by looking at a map of the Long Trail that follows the spine.
Seems like recency bias to me? It's been a decidedly average fall in southern NH, temperature-wise, counting days above and below average highs and lows. https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/concord/03301/october-weather/329508
Up to the 24th, it was below average. And it was quite chilly that last week in September, so they weren't really wrong. There was a period of about a month where it was below average. This time around Halloween is seldom "normal" in New England. For the past 3 years, it's either been snowing or it's been an Indian summer. We have the latter right now. Should shift back to seasonably cool in about a week.
We don't actually want a White Halloween. That's typically an omen for a very mild and snowless winter (2020-21, 2012-13), as much as a warm fall is (2021-22). Extremes in either direction tend to bode poorly for a good, snowy winter.
Personally, I like the backcountry trails around Stowe, VT. Gladed and narrow old trails that never got lifts. Probably as different from the west's big open bowls as you can get, but still a ton of fun.

I'm pretty sure this is the boot bag I use, but I didn't get it with a combo that included a ski bag?... but there are probably lots of options out there. I wear size 11.5 shoe, no issues fitting the boots in there, along with my helmet and whatever else I stuff into those. Just carry through airport.

I have done a lot of air travel with my boots. I use to sling them over my backpack.
Now I have the Dakine 50l boot pack
My wife got one and I liked it so much that I bought one.
It also has enough room to squeeze in my helmet, googles, gloves and ski pants.
It easily fits in the overhead compartment. I love it so much, I bought ones for my daughters and their SO. Mine is several years old and is still going strong.
Got it! Hope you'll be able to ride the peek to creek soon!
Do you use any particular website or app to track the wind in the mountain? I usually use weather underground but I am not sure if it reflect the actual wind in the mountain.
These are my conclusions here. I just looked at the charts and drew my own conclusions - there are methods that I have learned and experience I gained that helped over time.
Either way I try not to look at the generic weather forecasting (weather.com, accuweather, etc) as those never tend to tell the "whole story." Helpful stuff includes the NWS AFD (Area Forecast Discussions), there should be a link to those at your nearest NWS office website.

here's a 12 dollar gadget that will put enough of an edge on them
Came here to say that but you beat me to it..so I’ll one up you with the kit

Aw, what a great staff (and whoever turned in your phone)! We bought phone leashes that attach to the pocket zipper so we don't drop the phones on the lift. They work great!
Motorola T260 Talkabout Radio, 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DM7AEY4/
I got these for my daughter and I to use. I ride, she skis, and sometimes we split up a bit when I fall and she doesn't notice.
We have used them 3 days so far and have had no issues.
You have a link? I found these
Baofeng UV-5R Two Way Radio Dual Band 144-148/420-450Mhz Walkie Talkie 1800mAh Li-ion Battery(Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074XPB313/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_69HH19H1TSBZ62F1Q2WQ
Put some hot hands in your gloves and you’ll be able to poach an egg in your mitts while riding the lift.
I went up for a few hours on Monday and it was really good. Few icy spots but I was impressed with the overall condition. It's currently snowing here, and we've got a real possibility of more over the next few days... https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/me/sugarloaf-mountain
Didn’t know this about jay. Was thinking about going there cause northeast Vermont is looking like it could get 6-12, and jay seems to tend to get a little more. https://www.accuweather.com/en/winter-weather/complex-storm-to-end-calm-stretch-of-weather-in-northeast-prior-to-new-years-eve/651760
Accuweather agrees cannon, loon, wildcat should be the spot. Tuesday probably the best day it looks like to me.
I use a thermal case like this. Works great.

The Athalon "Everything" bag is the bomb. $69 (lol) and comes in a ton of colors. Fits everything.
I got these and they kept me warm and dry in ~10 degree F weather.

On warmish days I wear my pair of Outdoor Research rain pants over my base layer and sweat pants - they're shells with no insulation. Any good rain pants ought to work well as an outer shell if that's how you want to go.

I got this jacket:

Columbia is not a high end brand like Arcteryx but I was able to score it for $100 and at that price it's a screaming deal. I've skied in it twice and love it.
Based on my experience, if you're shopping on Amazon prices can change dramatically based on how much stock they have and/or are trying to move. Sometimes even checking back 20 minutes later can yield a significant price difference.
outdoorThese are the ones i use i can fit my glasses no problem. Yes they are cheap ,but do not look or feel. I also got a few compliments on them.
I've been hitting the mountain more this year than usual, often two or three days in a row.
Needed something portable, so I got these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010A5JBPO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have my doubts about the in-the-boot dryer like that, but let's see if it works well enough for a cheap travel solution.
Silica is always great, too!
