I'm very much like you. I moved back to Ireland after 20 years away and no longer live in the area where I grew up. I've got a photography degree (not that that means anything), but it made me look at how and why I make images. I walk and cycle a lot so most of my photos are made on my little trips.
I have a number of projects to do with historical buildings, so I spend a lot of time researching and planning trips, the actual photography could take 1/60th of a second after weeks of planning..
My advice would be to make a list of your passions / interests and think about how you could photograph them. Do some research and don't worry if someone has done a similar project as you'll put your own slant on it.
Maybe pick yourself up a cheap 35mm film camera and play around with that. Buy The Photographers Playbook as this will give you little projects to do https://www.amazon.com/Photographers-Playbook-307-Assignments-Ideas/dp/159711247X
You should buy the twin packs individually from Amazon, it's always cheaper! Right now they are a little higher ($13.99), assuming because of the holidays, but on average I pay around $11.50 for a pack. They've been as low as $7.49, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen again.
But even at the current price, you could have saved ~$4 by buying 3 twin packs instead.
60 sheets for $34.88 on B&H Photo Video is the lowest I’ve seen. That’s $0.58 a shot.
Editing to add that there actually seems to be a sale on Amazon right now. 120 sheets for $67.20 instead of the usual $79.99. That’s $0.56 a shot.
The Wide cameras/film have been out for quite a while (I believe 1998/1999) while the Square is still relatively new.
They did just release double-packs of square for $22.99 (MSRP?) which should come down in price over time. At release, most places wanted $16.99 for a 10-pack of Square.
I've had good luck finding it locally very cheap (even less than Mini!). Lots of sellers on Offerup/Craigslist have it for $4/5/6 per box: https://offerup.com/item/detail/454994259/
They just released the double-packs about a week ago.. they're not terribly cheap, but they're an option.
Depending where you live, I've found a LOT lately on Offerup/Craigslist for cheap.. https://offerup.com/item/detail/454994259/
These are $6/box.. I bought some recently in bulk for $4-5 per box for the square
Best prices I've found are the mutlipacks on amazon. They used to sell a 60 pack but I think they upped it to a 100 pack now. Also, if you find a better price on the packs at amazon, bestbuy will price match in store if the Amazon listing says "ships from and sold by amazon" so if you're in a hurry for more film that's one way to go.
Edit: it's a 120 pack now for $72. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWRG5T4/
I use this scanner (https://www.amazon.com/Canon-CanoScan-9000F-Color-Scanner/dp/B003JQLHEA), but I'm confident that you can use one in a lower price range and get a really good result. This scanner is 10 years old at this point.

I bought a couple different things on Amazon that all turned out pretty well, I'd link them but I bought the square format ones and I think you're using the rectangle mini... The first three are just little acrylic frames shaped in different ways, one's a double frame in a V or open book shape, the other is a single frame upside down 7.
Shop around a little, the 3-packs are often cheaper, mine were from a brand/seller called CAIUL. I also bought these other acrylic frames that are magnetic, kind of a splurge since random magnets and a little film sleeve (or nothing at all) would be cheaper, but I like them. I bought the mini ones too for my mother who shoots mini so here's a link.
Bought a little Woodmin branded album too that's working out alright for stuff I'm no longer displaying or haven't given away.
If you haven’t already, see if you can contact Fuji in Europe via their support #. Maybe they can sell you the replacement part directly.
https://www.fujifilm.eu/eu/contact-us
Edit: is shipping from Amazon any cheaper? https://www.amazon.com/FujiFilm-Instax-Replacement-Battery-Cover/dp/B00O968JHC
I got it from amazon.de. I think it's this one.
I usually just put them in the pocket of my bag, but sometimes they bend. That's why I bought an album jelly album . It's small, and I can always put it inside my pocket.
Am thinking something like this. Can usually find them second hand for cheap https://www.amazon.com/Cokin-Graduated-Filter-Holder-Filters/dp/B01HMWKUBW/ref=sr_1_11?crid=G5N2NQOJS9UX&keywords=graduated+nd+filter&qid=1663790505&sprefix=Graduated+nd+%2Caps%2C171&sr=8-11
Just in case, they also sell x-ray bags for film that you can buy to protect them, in case you're ever traveling to an airport and they refuse to do hand check or if there's any confusion/language barrier that could cause an issue. They have a few different sizes too.
Also use the delayed timer feature on the mini90 so your button press doesn’t shake the camera.
They have, I own it, and it's wonderful!

I use this brand. I have a pink, black and blue. They’re perfect. Square Album
Personally I would say this one. I bought two and they're nearly filled up so I'll probably be ordering the larger version next. Only downside is they don't sit perfectly inside so if you aren't careful and hold it upside down some pictures may fall. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0769G28RQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_VQ8FYPQ65DAC713RPDA0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I just ordered one that popped up for me on Amazon the other day. It's the only one I've seen that says it's strictly for square format. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098T9SF26/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_NJAB7MKEG68Q5PCYPRDK
I will say another option is using google's photoscan app available on android and iphone. I use this to scan my instax mini and can provide examples. Here's the link to the app (https://www.google.com/photos/scan/) if you want to check it out.
I use this. I took the dividers out and usually carry around 3 or so cameras in it. I put my photos in the front pocket. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JGHW78J/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_CAASDAAZQBFXQNAMCAHV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
If you know some one in the US there’s these ones currently available, https://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-Instax-Instant-Stickers-Cleaning/dp/B08YBY923J/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=34C2XOE9ZLV72&dchild=1&keywords=instax%2Bsq6&qid=1635266000&qsid=133-2528296-1537845&sprefix=instax%2Bsq%2Caps%2C173&sr=8-3&... and they’re shipped by Amazon. The issue is how do you get it to France (or to Ireland for me) without paying a an absolute fortune and then also customs/import taxes?
There is a service by our national postal service to have stuff shipped to an address in the US but you get screwed on import taxes. I ordered some AirPods last year that were on sale in the States, ended up paying nearly the same price as I would have getting them from Amazon UK (but still slightly less than I would have paid here in Ireland if I bought them locally).
I bought one of these on Amazon Canada, might be in other stores. It’s not the fanciest, but it’s not super flimsy either. The cover is made of a thinner plastic, similar to a flexible binder. The pockets fit well though and haven’t ripped or anything on me and it doesn’t look too bulge-y full of photos. Sorry about the long link.
I haven't been able to find any nice albums that can hold tons of photos, look nice, and are the right size for Instax Wide. I just use a couple of these albums I found on Amazon. The photos fit well, but they don't hold a ton.
I'd suggest buying the 256 sleeves photo alum specially made for Instax mini photo storage from Amazon. it's portable, convenient to carry with your camera, storage, and protects your instant photos easily. just storage the photos in the album and sort out the special moment for your collection later.
I use this scanner (https://www.amazon.com/Canon-CanoScan-9000F-Color-Scanner/dp/B003JQLHEA), but I'm confident that you can use one in a lower price range and get a really good result. This scanner is 10 years old at this point.
Wow... yeah, just tried checking Mexico (emphasis on "tried", I don't know where to look and don't speak Spanish) and prices don't make any sense there. Like, an SP-3 cheaper than the SQ20, the SQ20 cheaper than the SQ6?
The weird thing is, if you look up the SQ6 on the US Amazon (here) it says to me that it would be $110 total with shipping and import fees to deliver it to Mexico. That works out to around 2100 pesos, way less than either the SQ6 or SQ20 on the Mexican Amazon. Not sure if there are any complications with that though, I did hear that you guys have some crazy import taxes but those seem to be accounted for already in this.

I used these for my instax wide prints. The thing is, when you fill it up, it’s difficult to close.
you can use anything that is made for credit cards. I use a big credit card holder as an album. Here's mine: https://photos.app.goo.gl/83bVgeGiz1hfW3ku8

you can store photos in the wallet or wherever you want.I like mine because you can get creative with it and decorate with different stickers.
There are mini 9 cases on Amazon that look nice, I'll try to link one for you.
Fintie Protective Case for Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Mini 8+ Mini 9 Instant Camera - Premium Vegan Leather Bag Cover with Removable Strap, Marble Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G6WB3H7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_lU9hCb5SN69C1
A case can cover and protect the camera if your friend doesn't like the color. There are also black silicone cases that dont look like bags, which may be a good option as well! Instant cameras are so much fun, he will likely appreciate the thought even if he thinks the camera looks a little feminine. People at social gatherings won't care what color the camera is, they'll just be excited to see an instant camera put to use!

These are the best instax Wide albums I’ve found — they’re only available overseas but amazon will ship to the US.
Nice look, holds 80 photos with 4 per page (so when opened, you see 8 at a time)
Bought a ton of these and love them! Haven’t found any others comparable to it yet!
ah thank you very much.
I found the film on amazon , here's the link if you're interested.

I have bought and used the PIF300 on Amazon and used it with my instax mini cameras (the Fuji Instax Mini 90 Neo and a Rolleiflex Instant Kamera)
Good to hear you prefer Instax in general!
I'll be using it with my cameras, the two mentioned above.
I just checked on Amazon the the one I usually buy is a little more expensive than usual: https://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-Instax-Mini-Instant-Value/dp/B01E3QM34W/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=instax+mini+film+bulk&qid=1577417790&sr=8-5
Just keep looking out for a good sale on it!
I've just started shooting Instax and haven't needed an album yet, but when I do, I think I'll just go with a big scrapbook album and then use these photo corners to hold the Instax photos in place. They will work for any size photo, although you'll need to do a bit of measuring or planning if you're particular on where you want them placed on the page.

The corners are also available as clear too.
These ones are the Amazon Basics ones.
They are a little on the thinner side as far as page protectors go, if you’re looking for something thicker I’d search business card page protectors and read some reviews. With the weight of the photos they do fold over easily, but that doesn’t bug me.
Width wise they are perfect, the pockets are a little longer than the photos but not enough to be super noticeable or anything. They work well with one or two pictures (front and back facing) in them. These ones in particular have the opening for the pockets down the middle which is nice because nothing flies like if they are on top or the edge.
I used to use those tiny albums with 2 pics per page but I like this a lot more.
If you didn't find one on Etsy, then it'd be difficult to find one hand-made elsewhere. Personally, I did buy one from amazon and it works nicely. It fits not only my Mini 9, but also my Mini 70 with ease, and my Mini 90 (a little bit tight for the 90 around the lens, but it still works). For that reason alone, I was happy with that purchase, even if it was a cheapo Chinese bag. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GJ3YF89/
I carry one of these in my back pocket to keep my prints from getting bent

You can try to find a pouch that attaches to your camera case strap and store extras in there. There's a pouch for the film in various colors as well but the one I found has a gap at the bottom so probably not ideal for small parts.
They're not sized specifically for instant film, but the self adhesive albums can hold them pretty nicely. This one on Amazon is one example, but there are lots of these kind out there.

I've used the Caiul album. Got it from Amazon. It's made of paper and it's pretty cool.
Personally i think it's better to display these in frames on a wall or in some fashion so that you can see them all the time.
Unless you're making an album for someone as a gift.

I repurposed something like these pouches that I got with a camera accessory, and liked it so much that I got a bulk pack. When I give someone a nice set of instax prints it makes for a great way to gift them.
I haven't filled it up yet (or really put much more than a handful of pics in it) but this one by Woodmin seems more than fine to me. Is there something in particular that makes any given album much better?
I've never been a big fan of those - I know many of the older ones did damage photo prints (mostly with it yellowing photos and sticking to them, ripping the photo apart when removing it), but most of the modern ones are sold as photo safe. With that said, it comes down to how much you want to chance it.
Is there a particular reason you're looking at the self adhesive ones over something else?
There are some other options - either a normal photo album with loose pockets to hold the photos in place ( like this ), there are also photo corners which are a sticky corner-pocket you can place on anything.. put 4 of them down and use them to hold the photo without actually sticking anything to the back (or using a 'self adhesive' cover on the front)
I use these Business Card folders. I like that I can display them in sets of 10, the same number of shots in a pack.
The capacity is 200, but I don't put them back to back as I intend to write little slips of information of the back (who, where and when). The only issue is that I haven't found a binder that I like enough to put them into, so they are just slipin'-and-a-slidin' in a box at the moment.
I guess you could always find a business card holder-folder that had a cover already.
Have a mobile solution working on an iPad Pro with iOS 9.3.3.
Purchased this Lexar MicroSD adapter:
Lexar microSD To Lightning Reader - LRWMLBNL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012PKYVT8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4YjjzbG7DQDDT
My steps are:
This works with any photo I've tried to do this way. I think it's a pretty good mobile solution since no matter what you need a MicroSD adapter.
I order in bulk off of amazon usually 5-10 packs at a time and store it in my fridge. It ends up being about 75 cents (US) per image, sometimes less.
I know it's been a month but saw this and thought I'd mention that I have this camera bag and have gone all over the world with it. It has a bunch of compartments and fits my Nikon D70 and two lenses, my large format and regular Instax and a ton of film packs for both, my GoPro, an extra strap and all of my smaller accessories. Really sturdy, an insane amount of room and it has thick movable pads all over the inside so I haven't worried about things knocking together. It's an added bonus that it's really nice looking in person.
