Flickr user Dh0r has set up a PPA to eliminate the previous difficulty of installing Photivo on Ubuntu.
Photivo is open source, multi-platform software for processing RAW and bitmap images in a non-destructive 16 bit processing pipe with gimp workflow integration and batch mode. This Ubuntu PPA contains Photivo & its dependencies (liblcms2, lensun, libexiv2, graphicsmagick with 16bit enabled), and is available for Lucid and Maverick releases (32/64bit).
Quickly add the repository & install photivo with the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dhor/myway&& sudo apt-get install photivo
