Mojeek CEO here. That's an excellent article. Thank you for sharing. I've bookmarked the podcast; to listen and will share with my colleagues and our designer. Because we don't track users, and avoid using analytics that would help us identify user demographics, we are unable to measure their experiences. Not that we wish too. We use, and value greatly, direct user feedback, suggestions and input. We are not driven by numbers and analytics like many tech companies.
We've been actively encouraging discussions with users; hence the "Talk to Us" link next to search results. I'd encourage you or any other women to contact us so we can get more input. We've also being doing UX interviews and welcome more people for that.
Please use this form: https://www.mojeek.com/about/contact?subject=talk+to+us&message=I%27d+like+to+talk+to+Mojeek if you or anybody can help us this way.
We look forward to hearing from anyone, in this thread, on how we can might or can reduce design bias that we no doubt will have. As you say we have full control of our UI. The timing would actually be great too; we are currently doing some new design work.
In case anyone comes across this with an interest in this parameter, it is now live.
To use it add "&lr=" with the two-letter code representing the language, such as: https://www.mojeek.com/search?q=hallo&lr=DE.
It's not infallible and Feedback reports are much appreciated.
This makes me think of Zenwalk GNU Linux. You can run a LiveCD and then shut down after you're done. I use to use it at the library to get the broken computer in the corner connected to the library catalog. This saved me from having to go downstairs for lookups.
That's great to hear; if anything else comes up then you can ping us here or https://www.mojeek.com/about/contact is also a great place to send support stuff :D
