13 years ago I gave up on consumer routers and just started installing OpenBSD on cheap low power devices. Currently I’m running it on an edgerouter lite I got marked down to $50 in a promo.
Yes it’s a pain to spend a few hours getting it going the first time but that amount of time spent in night 0 eliminates the next 18 months of pain.
