This is the book I've heard the best things about, but I haven't cooked any recipes from it yet to know if its really good:
That's a sound plan.
For what it's worth, I typically work in a Vietnamese restaurant (haven't worked since COVID-19 hit) and during lockdown This stuff has seriously been a godsend. The package doesn't tell you to char and add ginger and onion, but if you do (and you follow the instructions- you can use bones instead of all the beef it suggests) it's damn good. Good as my boss (who's from Vietnam) makes it.
Well, all the pho I've ever had used rice noodles (vermicelli) Tons of different brands that are pretty much identical. I usually go with the flat rice noodles: https://www.amazon.com/Vietnamese-Stick-vermicelli-Three-Ladies/dp/B00ADHM9WW
(Usually way cheaper than 7$ on Amazon) Most general grocery stores sell them for $2 per 16oz package.
Vifon is pictured, and the best I’ve tried! Here’s a link to what I bought: Vifon Beef Flavor Soup Instant Pho Noodle Soup, Beef Flavour, 2.1 Ounce (Pack of 24) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0043OQUVC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Zq3JFb1QRTNBV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This book is pretty good: The Pho Cookbook: Easy to Adventurous Recipes for Vietnam's Favorite Soup and Noodles https://www.amazon.com/dp/1607749580/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6fDnFbB3KNX41
It’s got pretty much all of the major Pho recipes. It’s what I base my home made attempts from.
Definitely can. It'll look something like this. Some packets will say in English "pho spices"
Old Man Que Huong Pho Bac Spice Seasoning (3 Packs)- Gia Vi Pho Bac https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PE5596G/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_BT36BFH9HTYWYB1QGBXN
i use this, much cheaper in the asian market https://www.amazon.com/Quoc-Viet-Foods-Beef-Flavored/dp/B000XDJU0A/ref=sr_1_2?crid=LVOS3K1WZK2F&keywords=pho+base&qid=1643398537&sprefix=pho+base%2Caps%2C189&sr=8-2
This is the meat slicer we got to try out
We figured that we would get a basic model and see how it worked. If it was something we used a lot, then we would get a heavier duty model. We chose this particular model mainly for ease of cleanup since we were planning to use it to cut raw meat.
Quoc Viet has a vegetarian pho broth base on Amazon, not sure if it is available in india though
Then just add your own veggies and rice noodles.
Or here is a instant version
Just started getting into pho a couple months ago but was really into ramen before which also needs a massive bowl. I've been using these bowls here for my pho now. They're perfect! The chopsticks that come with it are trash but the spoon is cool and the bowls are great
I'm thinking something along the lines of this 50oz or bigger.
You seem knowledgeable.
This was 'frequently bought with' one of your suggestions
https://www.amazon.com/Quoc-Viet-Foods-Beef-Flavored/dp/B000XDJU0A/
That going to be any good to use for broth?
https://www.amazon.com/Pho-Hoa-Beef-Noodle-Spices/dp/B003GRMUCU
The cambells one lacks flavour by itself.
If you youtube Jet quick pho recipe on YouTube he makes a quick version with beef bouillon. Sacrilege in my opinion though.
