Martyn Lloyd-Jones’ Studies in the Sermon on the Mount was incredibly helpful when I preached on The Lord’s Prayer. Helped me put the prayer in context and understand how all the parts fit together.
I LOVE reading all things Spurgeon and do that a lot. Also huge, huge fan of John Gill's commentary on the Bible, which I read with e-Sword when I'm on the computer or Tecarta app on my phone. It's super in depth and usually dead on (especially considering he lived a couple centuries ago). Also J.C. Ryle... and I don't see Piper's Future Grace on here, that's probably my favorite modern theology book. Denise Sproul's "Tending Your Garden" is great although very dominionist, which prevents me from randomly recommending it to people. But it's very inspiring toward holiness.
The closest thing I’ve come to reading about this subject is Rachael Denhollander’s What is a Girl Worth?, but I’ve added your book to my “Want to Read” list.
LOL...I had misread thinking it was Susanna Wesley who was friends with Charles Spurgeon. I haven’t read the biography yet, which is entitled, “Susanna Wesley: Servant of God” by Sandy Dengler. It looks like an easy read, but my reading is on hiatus right now.
Edit: Wasn’t done yet
Oh wow! I had no idea they knew each other either. Nor did I ever know Wesley’s wife’s name! That’s really cool. Did you like that biography? Which is it? this Is the one I was referencing. I haven’t read a biography probably since I was a child. I really need to soon.
https://www.amazon.com/Women-Life-Unborn-Unloved-Neglected/dp/0997140909 I loved this book and highly recommend it for any Christian woman. I'm trying to read more things like this, because I'm super into Reformed theology and have been for a while but it's not always the most "practical"... :)
