A quick Google search with "identifying fossils" will turn up multiple .edu websites with fantastic reference materials. I did Fossils as an event when it was still part of the cycle as a 7th grader and placed 2nd at State, and ours was mainly looking at a physical fossil and then writing down the order/family/scientific name/common name and possibly a fact attributed to the species involved.
If you generally need more practice ID'ing real fossils, I would suggest going to: http://www.cram.com/flashcards/fossil-identification-quiz-2469610
http://petrifiedwoodmuseum.org/scioly.htm The second link provides practice specifically tailored to SciOly 2015. Visual events like Fossils and Entomology always require a "practice makes perfect" approach, so happy identifying and I hope that helped(:
I got this one. Not perfect but it works

No water. There are videos on YouTube on making launchers, but it is infinitely more complicated and time consuming than building the rocket and parachute. Your data will also be (nearly) worthless because it is an apples-to-oranges comparison with the Nerds Inc launcher used in competition. It’s pricey and really late in the season to start thinking about this stuff.

The launcher is $140 and you still need another $50 for 2 pumps.
This launcher will work without water, but is only good up to about 40 psi before the safety valve bleeds air. It’s cheaper and quicker, but will still be different than the Nerds launcher data. Thanks for the answers and the compliment on the bots. Robot Arm is one of my favorite events to make open source designs for; it is always changing and it seems to get more interesting/challenging every year.
I usually go with makerbeam as it ~~is~~ was super easy to order off of amazon.
Based on my 5 year of mentoring/coaching I don't think a build event last more than 2 consecutive years. So my guess would be the 'track' event next year will be one of the following:
The experience you gained this year and the well designed nature of your cart means it should have a long service life as a platform for you as long as you are competing in Sci Oly. Much like the basic design of the Speed Bird is the backbone of most of my cart designs and I could see your EV doing any of those events with a minimum amount of changes.
