I got them at home depot in the child safety aisle. I think they are made by safety first. Here they are on amazon Safety 1st Magnetic Locking System (1 Key and 8 Locks) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GCJMLG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Wy6.DbJA07WMH
I originally ordered it from Amazon but the day it was scheduled to arrive, I got a message from them that it had been damaged in shipping andI was being refunded. So I ended up finding it on eBay for 30% cheaper.
Moisture paper (60min tar paper ) is underneath.. I know the doorway piece is small.. I tried to feather in just a little to avoid the straight cut and needing a threshold. I don't want to cut too far into the hallway either as it is pretty much all single piece across the hallway.
Yea I noticed the color not matching too late. But I think for my purpose and inside a closet they are passable.
Refinish the floor is in the list.. that I will hopefully get to this summer. So I will leave it as is for a while until I can try refinish all floor in hopefully 2 phase.
As you likely have more experience in hard wood flooring.. is it possible to use this kind of floor buffer ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008BPFK1U ) with sand screen to slowly remove existing finish? ( Or maybe with some 10" or 12" sand paper for disk sander)
I was thinking if this would be enough to remove poly and do a bit of smoothing, I can just get the machine, do it slowly one room at a time, and try feather the poly in at the transition of different phase. I do not have confidence with the drum sander.. would rather take the time to avoid damage to floor
Won’t help the fingerprints but could you do one of the latches that you push in, then the door pops out? That door looks pretty heavy…
They're talking about attaching to the inner box. It was a bottle of AkFix 705 Fast Adhesive CA Glue.

Not a link as such no, and I’m in a different country to you so may be of limited benefit....
But something similar to this:
https://www.amazon.com/Seco-Larm-941SA-80Q-Mini-Maglock-lb/dp/B000G7ZE1M
I just bought a standard 9V door mag lock and a 9V power adaptor to run it. Did a few tests prior left it running for a few days on a heat proof chopping board, but they’re designed to always be on anyway. The force they can hold is crazy, about 270kg. They do hold some residual magnetism once you power down so you’d still need to give a decent tug on the shelves I imagine.
I had a friend make me a circuit board with relays, then had a button on the other side of the room to deactivate the lock by killing the power.
Mine was actually a door, so I had a fire door closing mechanism rigged in reverse pressing the door open. When the lock disengaged the door opened automatically.
Eventually I decided I wanted it voice controlled, so I installed a LightwaveRF plug on the power supply to the mag lock. Then programmed a sequence of “turn off power, wait ten seconds, turn on power” within LightwaveRF. Finally you can set up an amazon Alexa to trigger that sequence with a voice command. So in your case “Alexa open the bookcase” or whatever, then it will disengage the maglock for however long you want.
Your ultimate fail safe is kill the power to the house/sockets and the mag lock will disengage.
