Our senior dog avoided a tooth extraction by us administering these products per our vet’s recommendation (in addition to brushing his teeth):
Dental solution we add to his water 1x a day: https://thepetlabco.com/products/dog-dental-formula
Oral rinse that we squeeze over his gums/teeth after meals: https://www.amazon.com/Vet-One-510054-ChloraZinc-Rinse/dp/B00BQMINFA
Our dog’s breath used to stink up the car, now we can barely smell it!
I just got my senior this one for the bedroom and one in the living room. He’s smaller but they make all sizes. I really like that the cover is washable and the mattress is waterproof for accidents or, in our case, making messes with treats and licking it until it’s soggy 🤣

I recently moved into an apartment and wanted an easy pee spot for my senior instead of having to take him all the way to the lawn that’s far away from our apartment. I bought a turf pee contraption from Amazon. He wasn’t interested at first, until I took a paper towel, dipped it in his pee then wiped the paper towel on the turf. After that he peed on it! This is one similar to the one I bought. The drawer underneath catches the pee for easy clean up! Not a human food, but for my picky 15 year old she absolutely LOVES the Hill's Science Diet puree dog food. I mix it with her dry food.
I'd tried some other wet food and while she was super in to it at first, she quickly lost interest. I've been feeding her the Hill's food for the last few months and she just doesn't get tired of it. I get her this one and this one and I alternate each day.
I think he loves really sleeping with YOU, not so much in your bed :)
Fortunately, I live in a house that just has a basement, which my senior has literally never been down the stairs to the basement once, but when my senior stayed over the weekend with my parents my mom slept on the couch with him.
I have a 13 year old shepherd mix with the same exact problem, he fell last winter going down the back stairs to the yard. I ended up trying to put a towel down for him, but he didn't like that one bit. Finally I just decided he would do what he wanted to do and would tell me when it was time for him not to do steps.
I would search for something like this:

But maybe on the less expensive side?

Good luck!
