Ah that's interesting your pass-through isn't working now. I have my cable box doing hdmi out to the tv and then component to the slingbox so I don't have any experience trying to get passthrough working sorry. Maybe give one of these component splitters a go instead of using slingbox passthrough?
For 2) I'd do a factory reset then go through the whole initial setup again. I have a friend across the country signed into my slingbox right now watching football otherwise I'd see if there's an easier way to set up a different STB, but good luck to you.
I had the same issue when my cable company upgraded the box. I got these two items off Amazon and it worked great. As was previously mentioned, it is a mess of wires. Each one of those adapters requires a power cable as well as the video cables.

Thanks for your recommendation and actively helping everyone on these subs!
This may be a newbie question but how come all the product listings from the search results only have the adapter part without the AC cord going into the power outlet? This just as an example. Do we need to purchase the cord separately like this one?
Thanks!

That is just a BNC in rather than HDMI in. The URayTech is just a dedicated streamer. It needs an input source.
You will need a separate input source. Unless your TV has a video out you are stiff out of luck.
Maybe your provider can supply you with an additional STB separate to the TV.
Ie I use a separate dedicated Panasonic DVR with Satellite and Terrestrial tuners in it just connected to the URayTech. This is separate to the TV.
A few things.
Can you stream at 60fps if the setupbox/ISP does not broadcast the channel at 60fps? I assume no, and a regular channel would only work at 25fps (Europe), unless it's a specialty 4k/sports channel that is broadcasted at higher than regular FPS correct?
I got the https://www.amazon.com/URayCoder-Streaming-Encoder-Facebook-YouTube/dp/B07CP3G86L/ encoder the previous user posted. Is your encoder from the link you posted any different other than not having a HDMI OUT so you cannot watch your setupbox at home? Might be worth saving a few coin. Also, how is your IR blaster from the link compared to the RM4 mini? (setup wise, performance, etc). I like that just like the encoder, it's cheaper.
Regarding the encoders. Is there any point not using the H.265? Any instance in which the H.264 would be better? And what bitrate have you found gives the best quality over bandwidth usage?
I'm seriously contemplating reverse engineering the firmware for the Slingbox 500 and modify it so it'll run through a new backend that I guess I'd have to develop from the ground up.
Since the assholes at Sling decided to buy Slingbox and immediately kill it, and November of this year killing it entirely, they should have the decency to release all the source code.
Just like what Google did when they bought that Java based home theater/tv streaming solution, which they ended up using as the foundation for Google Fiber TV. It did take them a few years to release eit (probably had to scrub it due to licensing), but they did.
So far I've found these options https://www.witbe.net/blog/witbox-the-best-slingbox-alternative/, which looks fantastic, but seems to, at least for now, to be geared exclusively towards professionals managing headends.
The other is this one, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V436FSN/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_44KXYQA740ZWPWPHWQES, but it got sold out before I pulled the trigger, and for the life of me havnet been able to find it anywhere. The remote support is a little limited, but they've taken a novel approach, and it would work perfectly for what I need it for.
In the same boat as you, I have had Slingbox since 2010. I completely stopped using it last year and got this. It's amazing.

Possibly point your router's DNS towards a Raspberry Pi or a linux box running the PiHole software? ( https://pi-hole.net/ )
I don't know if it works against pre-roll ads, but it definitely blocks those below-the-frame horizontal banner ads in the OSX SlingPlayer for Web.
(or at least it did last month )

Probably the connection between you and your slingbox sucks and their proxy/vpn/relay is helping you by taking another route.
Check which port its using and block it at remote slingbox end or locally. Maybe check with this http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/cports.html
would this splitter work? what makes the one you are a using so special?
I already have this hdmi converter..would this be sufficient?

Do you know of any offline dvr options? How do you know so much about encryption/dvr stuff?
Appreciate the response.
I agree the experience with the powered one was better but still would do the job. had bought this one, with male RGB and female HDMI and power. The setup was that the hdmi (male) coming from the tv and the stb would hook into the device and the male RGB from the device go into the SB350.
When I logged into the watch slingbox url it showed me a standard set of channels page but no reception (no content).
So I gather that this device (RGB-HDMI adapter) is able to help me log in but is not able to get the content over to the watch URL.
Any advice you would have on how to get this step together?
PS - does slingbox need a specific STB only eg comcast or att? I am using an IPTV set top box.
Appreciate the advice. Thanks
I wonder if this would work. I currently convert my satellite TV to “ota digital“ using this modulator and it works perfectly for any digibox to pick up the extra free channel in the aerial signal input
Does anyone know if I feed this is into a HDHomeRun then I'd be able to watch the extra channel remotely via all thier apps?
Obviously I'd still need a way to use the satellite box IR remotelty but that seems the hard bit done.
The SB300 used to be compatible with Fire TV. Unfortunately, Sling recently deleted the Fire TV app from the Amazon appstore, so currently there aren't any Slingboxes that work with Fire TV (unless you installed the app before it was deleted.)
The app has disappeared and reappeared before, so it's possible that it will come back again. If it does, I assume it will still work with the SB300.
I was surprised when I went searching for a replacement after they killed the Roku integration. The lack of replacements might validate the decision to stop investing, as so few of us seem to be howling for a replacement.
For what it is worth, you can find your $100 Chinese knock off below. I’ve been using it for a month and it’s adequate, but it would be nice if it had more remote control functions. Did you get this resolved?
I had my 350 set up in my parents extra room, to a little receiver. It had hdmi and component out. I simply had one going to the TV. and the other component cables going to the slingbox. They recently changed their boxes to HDMI out only. I bought a converter, and it didnt work well. I tried an hdmi splitter too. nothing seemed to work.
When I try : cable box (hdmi) -> hdmi/component converter -> slingbox component input -> slingbox component output -> TV.... the Tv does get audio and video. It seems the pass through is working. It just does not want to stream.
I ordered a different converter to see if that helps. (this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R19BG7O/r)
"Yes, Streaming on LAN (home network) does not use the WAN connection once the connection is established. assuming that your Slingbox is fully configured. This means everything within your network is properly configured for and connected to your LAN." http://support.slingbox.com/KB/KB-2000575
I'd recommend The EZ-Bridge-Lite EZBR-0214+ https://www.amazon.com/EZ-Bridge-Lite-EZBR-0214-Outdoor-Wireless-System/dp/B002K683V0?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_dp to get the signal to your barn.
Just got the 500 on refurb and needed this to use the HDMI output of my cable box, so I pick up this lil splitter. Working like a champ! I have one output to the TV in my guest room, and the other to the Slingbox, which is hooked up via looong HDMI to a TV in the next room (office). The LEDs on it are really bright, I may tape over or remove them completely.

Have you tried using a hdmi splitter? I was having hdcp errors on some channels with dish network and I purchased this hdmi splitter and it worked out for me.
So in other words, roku doesn't have an interface (on the TV) where you control it? You are essentially only casting it to the roku?
http://www.amazon.com/Sling-Media-Slingplayer-for-Fire/dp/B00PJ3MGYG
Fire TV and stick can use the remote to control it. The problem is I don't want to use Amazon's services, and they don't offer a Android TV version for something like the Nexus player.
The best choice is the Slingbox 350. $89 at amazon with Prime shipping. No HDMI support with the 350- but it has component and does 1080p. Component is better for the slingbox than HDMI because it prevents any cablebox/dvd player from turning on the copy-protected flag on content preventing playback. TV shows such as game of thrones can be disabled from playing on a Slingbox with HDMI because of the copy flag. On component cables- you won't have those problems and still get 1080p.
