A set of flowmaster super 44’s or super 40’s will sound far better than straight piping.
Option 1: Take a tape measure and sharpen one side. Get in your truck and park it next to a lake. Use your freshly sharpened tape measure and get underneath the truck. While you measure the diameter of the pipe, brush the sharpened edge against your brake cable and cut it. Watch as it rolls into the lake. It will be better off that way than straight piped.
Option 2: Look up “1977 k10 350 v8 exhaust diameter” online and find yourself some measurements.
Option 3: Grab a ruler, go to your tailpipe and measure across it in the middle.
Option 4: Get a digital caliper and measure your exhaust that way.
Hmm. I'd maybe go get a cheap temp gauge and mount it under the hood somewhere temporarily. I've used this cheap one when I was needing a temp gauge sat somewhere: https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-7-123-Water-Temperature-Gauge/dp/B002ET4O5C/
You should pick up the temp somewhere before the thermostat, or at the very least before it flows to the radiator.
That will let you know if it's truly overheating, or if you're just smelling what's coming out of the overflow.
>Original one grenaded on the first drive lol had a rot hole in it
Lol, sounds exactly like my experience.
In that case, I'd just throw an overflow tank on it and see what's what. Does it look or smell like it's overheating, outside of the overflow hose - temps on the gauge look fine, and all that such?
Also, I found a nicer looking tank from Dorman, too: https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-54002-Engine-Coolant-Recovery/dp/B016V2BIB0
I use quite literally the cheapest one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000E35UV2
It may be overheating slightly quicker than it should, especially if you still have the original radiator and mechanical fan, but I'd start with the overflow tank and see what happens.
>Well, you need a puller that fits. You can use something like this https://www.amazon.com/OTC-518-Flange-Type-Puller/dp/B0002SRF9O
Came here to say this.... It's the only style puller that will work without damaging anything.
When you say steering column clamp, are you talking about something like The Club?
I use these on all of my vehicles and really believe in them. It's just enough of a deterrent to make the thief walk past your vehicle. At the end of the day that's all you really need.
Just regular metal stamps like these https://www.amazon.com/OWDEN-Professional-Stamping-Jewelry-Stamping/dp/B07ZFBGC3X?th=1
Electrically it should work. I bet the harness fits, too. I don't remember what the 3rd prong is for on an H4 bulb.
Worst case, you get something like this to adapt the two. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KC13WVL/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_CTGXFTYEMWXFAV04ZPR3 - I believe that will work for your sealed beam conversion, but I'm not in a location to look up what the original bulb type is to verify, sorry.
I'm partial to the H4 conversions myself. The LEDs always look funky and far too modern for a Square. https://www.amazon.com/GS-Headlight-Conversion-Replacement-Included/dp/B07F31V2CD/
You can always pop a H4 LED into those if you wish, but just the upgrade from the old school sealed beams to the H4 will be huge.
There are books like this:
They usually don't go into a lot of detail for mechanical stuff. A Haynes or Chilton book will do you good there. And YouTube is a great resource. Sometimes you'll have to watch several videos to get a "complete set of information" but I've gone through a lot of my build with just some YouTube stuff. Even if it's something I've done before, those videos are helpful for tool sizes and little gotchas during the project. Forums like this are good to get pics of something that was changed and you need to see the factory setup or whatever. Bottom line is I guess there are books like that, but essentially it comes down to all of the resources combined.
