https://trello.com/b/6BwRMiPw/tower-unite-roadmap This should show you the progress they are making They don't update everything in immediately, they pack everything up (like tons of content), then give the new content.
If you link your GMT account (the steam user you played GMT with) Your money will transfer over to tower unite, you also get the monetary value of the items you had. If you played both Lobby 1 and two you get the lobby plates, and if you donated you do get some special items. I think the normal "thank you" basket, a model of lobby 1, all the trophies from GMT, and I few more I can't think of at the moment. There isn't a tag next to your name, or a fancy glow (yet, its still in early alpha)
Here is the Forums, they have updates and many Q&A's going on. http://forums.pixeltailgames.com/
Here is the trello page showing what they are working on and what is coming up next. https://trello.com/b/6BwRMiPw/tower-unite-roadmap
PLEASE NOTE! THIS GAME IS EARLY ALPHA!! The devs are working super hard to make this game awesome. This game will be bigger and way better than GMT will ever be.
Since the game is in Early Access, it's more of an investment. There's a good chunk of stuff to do, but some people may get bored after a few hours with its current state. It's constantly being worked on by the developers, though. They're close to releasing a new gamemode called Little Crusaders. You can find their plans and progress on their Trello page: https://trello.com/b/6BwRMiPw/tower-unite-roadmap
Surprisingly enough making huge expansive virtual worlds without a lot of premade content takes time.
You can go on their Trello if you don't believe they're working on stuff.
> Allowing players to edit games rules and values. I believe that this will help the replay ability and variety of games, when players can change things like ball size in mini golf, or speed in Ball-Run. this is confirmed https://trello.com/c/g7Rfr1Vy/6-mutators
>I try turning the graphics down to low, but they just change themselves back(Yes i am hitting apply & save.
Thats a glitch that's fixed in the next update (releasing soon)
According to the officiαl Trello Roαdmαp, Steαm Workshop Support is estimαted to be coming Q3-Q4 ~~(not sure why the Trello isn't in the sidebαr)~~ Added to sidebαr
I'm talking about Trello.

You could see them moving it from April to May to Juni to Juli and then to 3th quarter up to the release. (Something like that). If you want to see the april scroll all the way down in the casino card to see the change.
Also the early backer players could play it even before the april release.
While I don't know what the files actually contain/do, they were added in 0.8.1.0 and I assume they were used in testing 2D arcade machines as a bunch of other arcade stuff slipped in in that update despite the arcade update not releasing until 9 months later. The same update that added these files also added the grass, dirt, stone, sky, and bush textures that can be seen in this preview of the arcade 2D gamebase, which can be seen here. The Unreal documentation for the Paper2D plugin says
"Stores the data necessary to render a single 2D sprite (from a region of a texture) Can also contain collision shapes for the sprite." Because each of these files (ThisFileBreaksCopyrightLaw_Sprite_*.uasset
) reference the ThisFileDoesNotBreakCopyrightLaw.uasset
file I'd assume that each of those contain information about how a sprite should work in a 2D environment and where on the DoesNotBreakCopyrightLaw texture/sprite sheet the sprite should show. idk why the individual sprite files would break copyright law and the sprite sheet wouldn't though.
I would like to point you over toward their Trello page here:

I can see the frustration behind not having a working game like GMT while Tower Unite is developed, but it's a sometimes necessary leap in this sort of thing. Just because their approach to the situation includes taking down GMT and working full time on Tower Unite, doesn't mean that they don't care. I'd personally say that they care more, because with this, they're funnelling the attention from GMT to TU, effectively giving it more feedback and making it a better experience because of that.
I wouldn't suggest shunning the dev team or the game because of reasons like money. If they abandon the project in the next year you can come back to me and give me a big ol' "I told you so".
The game doesn’t support straight up GIFs, first you’ll have to convert them to an animated sprite sheet, apply that texture to the canvas item, then enable the sprite sheet option for the object.
