1010 teaches you basic programming using something called Processing, which is Java but you draw 2D objects. 1012 teaches you basic programming using Python. 1020 teaches you OOP and other intro topics using Java.
Interesting that that professor chooses a different distribution. I would still go with Anaconda's Python 3.6 distribution and then use the Spyder IDE as most professors still use these, and that's what's installed on the university computers. However if you get comfortable enough with enthought's Canopy IDE you should be able to pick up Spyder pretty easily.
As for intro to University, it kind of depends on the person, I never took it so I can't comment too much on it. If you can take it this summer before the fall term starts I suppose it could benefit you but again, having never taken it I'm not totally sure how useful it is.
UM students get discounts with the ISIC card! It’s free to sign up and you get nationwide discounts on products like Herschel backpacks, NordVPN, Grammarly, Apple and Samsung products! If you find yourself revealing you can also use it in other countries. Check out the link:
The 6th edition is a new edition, there is probably new content in it so it is recommended you buy it.
This is the anatomy atlas: https://www.amazon.ca/Photographic-Atlas-Anatomy-Physiology/dp/0321869257
I actually still have the assignment PDF from the project! Instead of Java the course is now based around Processing which is based on Java but has an easy graphics library integrated into it.
i see the macbook air recommendations, and that makes sense with your apple gift card, sure. But since you're asking about chromebooks, i think you're conscious about price, so maybe shelling out north of 12 hundos plus tax might not be your cup of tea right now. So I'm gonna shamelessly advertise my laptop :)))
This is the exact model: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07WXQ4V3R/. I've rarely used it. 350 is my offer. You get a core i3 laptop with a touchscreen running full blown windows, instead of the limiting chrome OS. Feel free to dm me if you wanna meet up to inspect it or if you wanna ask about any further details.
Yes, I tried it! It works! I have storage over 100 GB worth of old photos I need to rid from my phone and you can search up from the official Microsoft website, they offer an online site that transfers your files from one account to another for free! Of course, don’t worry about privacy since it’s your account, pretty sure the admins don’t search through such things over thousands of students, otherwise that’d be invasion of privacy.
Anyways…
I think it’s this website, try it out: https://flow.microsoft.com/en-us/galleries/public/templates/02f86638b67b464f913f282c3dc5a459/copy-files-from-one-onedrive-account-or-folder-to-another/
It's one of the most important courses you will take in computer science. It's challenging but a good professor makes a great difference, some professors focus a lot on analysis of algorithms (which are taught in COMP 2080), while others focus more on data structure implementation. This is the textbook that was used to teach the course, in case you want to a headstart. That book is too big and intimidating but I have found it very useful outside of class. Assuming that the course material has not changed since I took the course a few years ago, you can use this free alternative to learn most of the materials covered in class.
