I wanted to be able to charge my phone if needed from my 2020 Versys 650. Kawasaki sells a part to allow this for $95. I found this one on Amazon for $15 and it fit with just a whisker of sanding the left side factory hole.
If you want to add one, I'll give you the secret to how to get to the screw on the back that holds the plastic plug in the stock dash. Take off the upper fairing (you don't have to remove the windshield) by pushing down the two button clips on the top and the two hex screws on the front. Once that is out of the way, grab a 1/4" deep socket and a phillips head impact driver bit (the long kind). Stick the bit in the socket and use the socket as a handle to turn the screw. You don't need a ratchet, just turn it by hand but this combo yields the best length and leverage to get at that screw. It took me 15 minutes and several other attempts to discover this.
I wired mine through a relay which just plugs in while you are under the top fairing. You could run it to the battery directly (use a fuse of course!) but this may have some power draw even when nothing is charging so watch your battery.
Anyway, maybe this post saves someone $80 over the cost of the "factory" USB port.
Hey bud, I just went through this. The previous owner had over-tightened and ruined the stock mirrors mounting hardware. So I found some on Amazon I think, they were only $20 and they are AWESOME!. Trying to post this for the 10th time. Kept giving me errors. I sent to OP in DM. This is for everyone else that might have the problem.
Excellent! Congratulations on the bike!

Here are the low mounted amber lights: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08M3NY3VL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Most people say it's too much, but I prefer running both. The Spot lights I mount high and use them when on the pavement during the day and night in clear weather.
The amber lights I use during crap weather as they cut through better than spots. I mount low to cut below the fog, during foggy days and night They are also GREAT when off-roading because it will allow you to see pot holes or elevation change in low level conditions
I think these are them:
Hella dual tone Very very loud but does push near the max amps of the circuit.
These are the only ones I could find for my 300: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QHWQJ3D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_AJ5FD3ZGJ21QTSYRADFH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
If you do get them, be careful threading the bolts into it. The threads are pretty soft and strip easily. I was able to keep the anti-vibration pads on with these.
I'm pretty happy with them. My feet definitely feel more planted off road and I'm less likely to skip off a peg in mud.
I did not purchase one yet. I saw some pictures of people having this one, and it was easy to mount without problems. I thought it wasn't but maybe the cheap AliExpress one is good to try, I don't ride very rough terrain. I want to have one in spring and when I install it I will make a video of that! I think this is the one someone mentioned in the reactions as well. Also still considering the light T-Rex model.

I replaced mine with an LED bulb, and checked the aim, liked it so much I bought the same brand of bulbs for our car.
I've had a set of these for over 2 years. Had a few other cheap types which have failed one way or another, but these are have been on for 20,000 miles in all weathers. I paid about £60 for the pair.
I bought this kit for 20$ Canadian. Yes, I have a switch. You nay need to modify the wiring kit a bit.

Disclaimer, just sharing my experience and what I did! Not outright recommending any of the following.
I have a VX300, and I originally bought and installed these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LL3DCZP/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_4QHKW0WER4X2WYS5ZWHN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
They were way too bright, I tested them in my driveway and immediately knew I'd blind anyone in front of me or driving in the opposite direction, so removed them and they're sitting in a box somewhere now.
To avoid any road legality issues and not cause annoyed drivers, I instead got these: https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/S2-Sport.asp
They're pretty good, with both a spot and driving light so you get some extra light going forward and immediately surrounding you. I think they're a good middle ground with extra "noticeability" during the day and aux light at night. A little spendy from RVZ (~$200 when I purchased) but I think they're good little lights; low wattage, bright enough for my use, multiple lens options if you want to change them out for different lighting options.
To install, I did a lot of research but found that I could buy an OEM wire harness for the OEM fog lights and splice the connectors from the harness included with the S2 lights onto it. Was pretty easy to do, just used some heat shrink soldering sleeves and heat gun. Mounted them to my crash bars with some cheap Amazon light mounts. Then just installed the OEM fog light switch, and was good to go. Now I have a dedicated switch to turn them on/off when I need, and can easily disconnect them if necessary when I work on the bike.
Could maybe do something similar with the V650? Also be sure to check out the Versys forums, thats where I did most of my research.
I bought those for my Versys 1000 LT SE

They are very bright, not sure if its legal. I used them primarily on day time to be seen. Or alone on the road at night. Didn't cut any wire, I plug them in the 12 volts 10 amp plug. So if a policeman require it to be unplugged to be legal, I can do it in front of him and not get a ticket.
Any thoughts on crash guards? The bike I am looking at has this one (I think). The way the lower assembly mounts to the frame tube with a brace seems a little weird to me. Looks like it would scratch the frame.

I installed a 12V charger and you do need a relay.

and used this 12V (use any you want, they are all the same)

I just installed 2 USB sockets on mine (one for my Quadlock wireless charger and one to store under the seat to charge other devices)

Just used the accessories wiring under the left fairing (there is a positive and negative connection exposed for this reason) This gives you a switched live connection so the USB is only operational when the ignition is on. No relay needed

Hope this helps

Hmm, Essentially no. A technician should be able to do all the wiring for ya.
If you don't have mounts on your crash bar, I recommend getting mounts: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0791NB4FM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I got these for my 2009 and I like them. They stand vertically but have a little adjustability to the sides. I'm able to see as much as I need to since I always do a head check before changing lanes anyway and they help me see directly behind.
I think it's this one (Givi). I'm not 100% sure because I bought my bike used and it came with the rack and the case. My bike is a 2017 - so not sure if the same rack works with the 2009. I re-mounted it, doing away with the metal pieces that came with the case and instead drilling additional holes in the rack hardware and adding some flat bar from home depot to span across the rack. I also bought a plastic cutting board from Walmart and mounted it on top of the flat bar. This provides better support for the case. Here are some pics of mine.
I went with these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KQZXGXN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_YB6ZCE4NREACXTB05QJ3
They were the only option I could find that wasn't super expensive. They've held up just fine for me over the last year and a half. If you do get them, just be careful installing them if you keep the stock peg weights. The threads are a little soft so make sure the bolts are in a decent ways before you start tightening them down.
Yup, I just ordered mine off Amazon since the shipping was quick: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XZCVLHZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_X4AM6AJF7DP0CS4GQ22A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I got this power socket too because the kawasaki one is ridiculously expensive: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0031793XO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_D0TFCWP43EPRE1F8T6CW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Although I have the side cases, I don't use them regularly. My (used) bike came with this top case and I really like it. It's fairly inexpensive. Some of the reviews complain about the base breaking. I remounted mine using a cutting board from Walmart as a spacer and haven't had any issues. I think that top case will work with either the gen2 or gen3 - just passing it along in case you end up needing some additional storage.
something like this https://www.amazon.com/Driving-Wrangler-Offroad-Harley-Motorcycle/dp/B0778WDGP9 They're bright but they have no upper cutoff so unless you keep them pointed low they blind oncoming traffic.
I wanted some larger ones but I didn't want to spend Motech money, so I picked up some cheap DR650 pegs off Amazon. I was not expecting much from them, but they turned out to be surprisingly (and frustratingly) touch when I tried to drill the bolt hole out to fit the Versys mounting pegs. Huge PITA, but definitely worth it, especially for the cost. I certainly don't feel like I put $130 worth of work into getting them on the bike, so as far as I'm concerned they're still a significant value of the SW-Motech. Not as nice, obviously, but a cheap upgrade so long as you've got a drill/dremel and patience (and some cutting oil helped as well tbh).
As for highway pegs, I have the T-Rex cage, and I have their highway pegs as well. Just get theirs, they're totally worth it. Not a good pic, but the best one I have to show where the footpegs were set up on mine when I got to my destination in mid VA from DFW, TX. If you'll look closely, you'll see that the top and bottom puck are both scraped up from where I ate pavement on the way up, but the footpeg only took a slight hit (lower left corner of it) and was pushed out of the way and protected by the rest of the cage. Footpegs are also visible here, and as you may or may not be able to tell they are a higher placement than stock - which I actually like, partly for clearance and partly because I have a taller seat (seatconcepts) so it works out well for me. Brake pedal is a bit of a reach but only took a slight adjustment.
