Hi there u/kree-of-gamwich and thank you for your questions.
Do you always find the film you are looking for on your paid services? Most people don't.. and when you don't, why not pay directly to those who made the film? They are usually paid very little for their efforts by the streaming platforms - so we want to make viral distribution and direct to consumer viewing and payment the new reality.
You pay for each film yes - not just viewing but for permanent access to the film. We recommend a price of €3, although the rights holders themselves can set the price (for each territory or globally).
P2P works because the White Rabbit extension in your browser can identify films wherever you stream. Once the films is recognised you pay directly. Just check out this video here and you can see it work for yourself: https://www.loom.com/share/76ab1aeb8f054574b2ae29881776b95b
We intend to build out a p2p reward system rewarding fans who want to give excess CPU and bandwidth to the network. This is especially important for non-mainstream content, helping to ensure easy access and fair distribution of content. We believe p2p is the future of streaming and so want to build everything to empower fans and filmmakers.
Hope this answers your good questions - let me know if you have some more!
Alan
