I just ordered this one. I have to go pick it up at my shipping center. Will see how it goes with how well it works.

this is what I bought. The barrel looks small to me but i used a digital caliper and the female receiver measures 5.8mm so im sure it will fit.
I replaced my Xtool d1 stepper with one from Stepperonline. Find it on amazon its only 10 bucks and works really well
You can also user an "egg crate" light cover. Like this (not an affiliate link, just an example)
Depending where you work, you might be able to get one for free. Where I used to work we had them in the elevators, and vendors bringing in large items tended to break them, so I would grab one of the broken ones before it went to trash and I could cut it to size needed. I know there is no magnetic properties, but it worked well for cutting without charring the wood, and they were easily replaceable.
If you keep an eye on it and a small spray bottle you will probably be ok. I would not walk away from it though.
For the enclosure im currently using this comgrow one with it on its side. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093H1J46W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I recently purchased a D1, and have only had time for one project, but just lightly engraving some pine gave off enough smoke I moved it outside.
I'm going to build an enclosure with an extraction fan that I extend to a window to make it usable indoors.
XTool sells their own enclosure if you are not able to make one yourself, so I would recommend going one of those routes.
It should be fine once you connect it to your Inline Duct Fan. I have a similar setup with my resin printers and spray booth. I use this fan for my setup. You can always go smaller.
Sure. Here is the product I've cut:
Elmer's Foam Board Multi-Pack, 18 x 24 Inches, 3/16 Inch Thickness, Black, 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K2580AU/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_QS40W0T41F5GPZTAWFF1
A lot of foams, plastics, and even woods (according to the state of California) are going to release toxic fumes when burned. It's up to you to keep yourself safe by actively extracting the fumes outside or into a good filter (if you must cut indoors).
As I mentioned, I only use mine with a fan and open garage door. I will never use it in a closed room.
