True but people also can get Celo, AmpForth, NuCypher, Compound, and Graph also for free
But XLM is higher than them all.
Personally I think its because XLM has almost no fees compared to other coins, it has a dope logo, and lets face it XLM has the easiest to understand project goal and has the better looking future imo
This isn't a secret - it's on their bloody mandate page. They say exactly how much they sell every year to fund development.
How exactly do people think all of these blockchain foundations fund themselves? From thin air?
https://www.stellar.org/foundation/mandate
> SDF uses lumens from the Direct Development fund to directly develop and advocate for Stellar. On Nov 5, 2019, when this mandate was first announced, 12 billion lumens were allocated to this fund and 3 billion were released for use through 2020. These funds are escrowed and unlocked 3 billion per year, beginning in 2021.
Do any of you know anything about the project you've bought into?
Seeing this entire sub jumping to conclusions is embarrassing.
> Huge, huge red flag.

Foremost I have over 10k xlm and I am hodling. Now...
You mentioned XLM 0 times here.
The programming language means less than nothing. Hoskinson could have written it in machine language in notepad++ as long as it runs.
Don't trust a guy on the internet Here is what ledger has to say
Monetary Policy and Development
Stellar does not have mining like in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, and it does not rely on proof-of-stake (PoS) either. Instead, Stellar has a monetary policy, similar to Ripple, for producing XLM that does not involve the SCP.
Stellar initially minted 100 billion XLM tokens at the network’s launch and distributed a small portion of those tokens to the public via various giveaways such as airdrops. New XLM are issued via a 1 percent annual inflation rate that accrues proportional to the participation in the inflation voting process.
The current circulating supply of XLM is just over 19 billion, and the total supply is just under 105 billion.
Stellar provides a suite of developer tools for building on top of the network and has some high-profile firms creating applications on it including Deloitte and Tempo Money Transfer

And here is what Stellar themselves say
Notably:
Unlike the tokens of other blockchains, lumens aren’t mined or awarded by the protocol over time. Instead, 100 billion lumens were created when the Stellar network went live, and for the first 5 or so years of Stellar’s existence, the supply of lumens also increased by 1% annually, by design.
I am not familiar with mobius, but Smartlands has been around for 3 years and is certainly not a scam. They are partnered with the Stellar Developmental Foundation. https://www.stellar.org/ecosystem/projects?locale=en
Protocol 17 introduces operations that allow asset issuers to maintain tighter control over how their asset is distributed to the world. Specifically, it gives them the power to burn their asset from a trustline or claimable balance, effectively removing it from the recipient’s balance sheet:
The amount of the asset clawed back is burned and is not sent to any other address. The issuer may reissue the asset to the same account or to another account if the intent of the clawback is to move the asset to another account.
This allows for things like regulatory enforcement, safety and control over certain assets, etc. You can refer to CAP-35 for more motivations or technical details behind these new features.”

TLDR: COINQVEST today announced approval of its application for the European Union Virtual Currency Service Provider License from the Estonian Government. In addition to its current suite of online payment services, this allows COINQVEST to operate compliantly and provide custodial wallet solutions to our clients as well as cryptocurrency and fiat exchange or cross-border remittance. COINQVEST’s platform is built on the Stellar Network, one of the premier financial technology blockchains in the market.
We are all looking for that exact coin!
There is Celo and there is cUSD (celo stable coin) . Check the Valora app, i think there is alot of potential.
Stellar has been around for so long and still hasn't something like this? I'm also invested in stellar by the way
I emailed Ultra Stellar customer service last night, and they promptly provided the above link. I haven’t tried it yet, but it looks like our solution.
I have slots open for both if anyone is still interested

I made payment of 0.66579800 BitcoinSV to Coinsbee for an amazon gift card:
The BSV address Coinsbee gave me to pay into: 19gtzMCPh4VhRiCkJNWG8aDKtBX3VAtBaJ
Tranasction Hash (txid): 9863a98469ff5c245aa17750caf1310dd8a7132e2bca88f36bda0a756a9ea5b0
However I never received any confirmation email nor any Amazon GC after making the BSV payment.
What is most concerning is that Coinsbee has since moved the 0.66579800 BSV out of that address we paid into, it not like they are unaware.
I emailed Coinsbee customer support and got a very badly written reply that my invoice ticket expired before I made the payment (which is totally untrue as there was almost 17 minutes left on the clock when I hit send) so they gave me the link to Coingate to fill out the refund form, but I never received the order number and transaction number from an order that I never received a confirmation email for!
..I still have not received any refund nor the Amazon Gift Card
Okay, so SDF is allowed to sell 3 Billions of XLM each year starting January, 2021 according to their mandate page ( https://www.stellar.org/foundation/mandate ), and that's like more than 8 Millions of XLM each day, and that's pure sell pressure and about 5% of daily trading volume. And it seems that's enough to keep the price down. How can we expect for XLM to rise compared to other major cryptos if this much selling pressure is coming from the founders themselves!
> Major stakeholders anchor the network and perhaps develop their own tokens for their own uses.
No. There are major players that do run an anchor but there is no requirement for anyone to be an anchor no matter how many lumens are held. Anyone can make their own token you don't need to be a massive holder or company. XLM has a total of 50 Billion coins of which nearly 23 billion have been released. Also the fees from every transaction are burned. The SDF controls the release of the remaining lumens and have stated directly how they plan to do it on their mandate.
The have been shy of media attention in the past. Marketing was not one of their focus points. In their 2021 Roadmap (https://www.stellar.org/roadmap), Stellar says they want to "broaden awareness and drive ecosystem expansion." So it sounds like there is going to be more of a focus on market in the future, and thus, media attention.
Stellar has been more focused on building sound and trusted partnership, with that, media attention will come.
Since the USDC runs on stellar, I wouldn't be surprised to see companies such's as Square begin to allow xlm transaction.
It's just a matter of time.
I think you are missing something,
It's not written in stone to own 1 xlm to own a trustline. Before 2017 you need 5 xlm to own an account, now its 1xlm, if xlm goes high, the validators can vote to make that number lower.
Also, if you read up on the protocol 15 upgrade: https://www.stellar.org/blog/protocol-14-improvements?locale=en
I got sold on xlm mass adoption after reading it. Focus on 'claimable balances' and 'sponsored reserves' how users of won't even have to notice they are paying xlm fees in the first place, all that the institution handles.
Also, it's quite strange you say xrp was built for corporate use when stellar has been making inroads with numerous corporate entities.(like black baud is a recent example)
the first thing to know is that using stellar consensus protocol means using Stellar core software which is the open source software of xlm.
Stellar core is designed for trusted corporations to validate transactions and is not designed for 100s of unknown persons to be validators so some modifications need to be made.
If you install the node software and can maintain uptime you'll be upgraded to a node which is a stellar archiver node. Pi are only using 2 types of the stellar nodes: archivers and full validators.

Dont be discouraged for what you believe in for your investment. Sorry on behalf for those in the sub.
Personally, I think xlm is a great project by helping to bank the unbanked (thus individuals included those in less develop country where access/approval to create bank accounts is limited).
https://www.stellar.org/foundation
The business it is trying to run is not for profit as oppose to xrp (no offense) which aims at cooperate audience however. Both are design to serve similar purpose, a better, faster, more secure monetary transaction experience.
With that said (though superficially and subjected to my personal interpretation), I hope you would find stellar interesting and worth investing into. It is indeed a bare minimum mid to long term if you ask me. The nature of its design to do is naturally a slow but steady walk n jog to its goal. With more support from corporates and companies it could go wider.
In the end, we are all looking at the same product from different perspective, heck even how we want to support it. ❤
Have a great day and hope you stay with xlm no matter which sub reddits you join.
Thanks
For wallet, I followed Stellar's official recommendation on wallet. Went with lobstr, easy to use with 2fa and extra multisig with lobstr vault, available separately.
All are free of charge.

“Right now, the minimum balance is 1 lumen and the minimum per-transaction fee is 0.00001 lumen. These are small enough to keep Stellar widely accessible, but big enough to discourage large-scale bad behavior.”

Interesting.
there is no more inflation pool for xlm anymore. supply has been halved due to that. Check stellar.org for the wallet. I'm sure you can get a paper wallet from there the same way you can check your lumens using your private key. https://www.stellar.org/account-viewer and generate a wallet
