Hijacking top comment, appologies:
As many people have mentioned, many websites or email forms don't allow +forwarding as their inputs.
I use to use it a lot, but I've since witched to 33mail
33mail is a mail forwarding service where you can make-up your own email on the fly, because the part that matters is the subdomain.
Example: is what I'd use for reddit.
Anytime a new website asks for my email, I can make one specifically for them.
and
Full disclosure: I don't work for them, nor do I receive any kickback for recommending them. I have used their service for 3.5 years and have been more than happy with their service.
33Mail is a disposable email system but one which is super efficient and easy to use. All mail gets forwarded to your usual email account but with a link added in the email. One click and the address is blocked. No needing to go to a website and setup addresses, it's all automated and simple.
I just use 33mail. I found it here on reddit a while ago. Basically, once you have a 33mail account, you can make up an email alias on the fly each time you need to give your email address, ( ShadyMallShoeStore @ MyAccount.33mail.com, or RandomPrizeDrawing ). You don't have to create the account ahead of time. All email sent to that alias gets forwarded to your actual email address (like gmail). If spam starts coming in, you can just shut off that alias, and none of the bogus email reaches your inbox.
It's pretty great. And free.
I'd definitely be interested in something like this too. Currently I subscribe to 33mail for this service and while I'm happy with it, self-hosted is always nicer.
I looked into this a few years ago and didn't really find anything. SpamGourmet is probably the closest I found at the time but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. Like, I wasn't happy with the max 20 email limit per address it enforces by default. This might be something you could change though. Looking around now, MailSac might be something to check out, it's at least still being developed.
This requires you to set up aliases in advance though, right? I use 33mail and the best part about it is that I can create addresses on the fly without setting up any aliases.
Edit: To be clear, this isn't just an email alias. Each message comes in showing which address it was sent to and you can disable aliases instantly from the email or via the website.
http://www.33mail.com/ is a mail redirector, you have a base address eg @lolcats.33mail.com and whenever any email is sent to this account no matter what you put before the @ will be sent to your proper email address. If any address you give out starts spaming you can block that particular address and still continue receiving all other mail sent to your 33mail account. This doesnt expose your actual email address like gmail does
Keep in mind a lot of email marketing companies are aware of those sites and the domains they use and won't let you use them.
http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/ is another one that also generates fake details like your name, address, phone, etc. and a realistic-sounding email you can use.
http://www.33mail.com/ was made by another Redditor. Use this for times when you might need to "own" the email address or you need to reply. You can kill off any of the email addresses you use anytime.
You just make up an email when filling in a form. example: signing up for facebook, put your email as and you will get forwarded emails to your preferred address.
and here's my referral url if you want to be cool like that
If you are looking for disposable email service, I heartily recommend http://www.33mail.com (not affiliate link :)
Register an account at 33mail and forward the mails to yahoo mailbox, then you can use arbitrary email address for instance allsos@<username>.33mail.com.
If you no longer wish to receive the mails for a specific 33mail email alias, you can block it at their web page.
