Haha, that was the first task, for two of my groups. I hope that hasn't caused a problem.
I'll mail you, thanks.
You should know that I looked long and hard for a suitable blogging platform like this (free, with option to extend, open source, minimalist look, relatively easy to set up, option for browser only work, no server required) and there were next to none. https://bearblog.dev/ is the only other one I'd consider.
I’m gonna plug the Bear platform for those who just want a simple blog and don’t want to host one. It’s scaled back and privacy-friendly. A custom a domain can be connected and self-hosting is possible through a fork.
Google will be able to read your blog anyway, wherever it’s hosted unless it’s not public. (Because Google crawls the web). But as a good alternative I can recommend ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ Bear
Answering your question: under GDPR you should be able to request to download and delete your data. Write to Google.
They don't have a blog platform, and don't want to muck about with Github pages? The latter I presume -- I have no idea why use Medium instead of, I don't know, https://bearblog.dev. Must be all the fine typography on Medium, with the generous amount of negative white space :B

Free, no-nonsense, super-fast blogging. No javascript, no stylesheets, no trackers. Just your words.
It's currently gaining a decent amount of traction and just wanted to get some feedback on where it could potentially end up.
There is, actually, such a platform: https://bearblog.dev/
But I do see the point in creating a new separate space. The solution you've suggested puts a whole lot of responsibility on the guy running the platform, and I guess decentralization is desired by the kind of people who would use Gemini.
